Description
The comfortable holiday flat has an area of approx. 85 m² and is very suitable for 4 people. By arrangement, up to 6 people can also be accommodated in the flat. The sleeping possibilities are a double room, a twin bed room (two single beds) and a guest room (spring room) with a large, modern sofa bed for 2 people. The guest room with its large panorama window and double-winged patio door is also ideal as a reading or play room, with plenty of literature such as thrillers, novels, fairy tale books for the kids through to interesting cookery books or reference works such as specialist literature, encyclopaedias or atlases.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped and has a fridge-freezer, an oven with a 4-burner ceramic hob, extractor bonnet, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, egg boiler and much more. No crockery or cutlery counted!
The dining and living area is comfortably furnished with an HD flat screen TV, HiFi receiver plus CD player, as well as a usable open fireplace. WLan available!
Large panorama windows offer a wonderful view of the opposite forest slopes of the Wiedtal. The double glass door offers direct access to the large, Mediterranean-style terrace with garden furniture including cushions and upholstery. A large sunshade with a traffic light serves as sun protection.
A (high) barbecue, a kettle barbecue and a table barbecue are also available on request.
The brightly tiled bathroom has a hand basin, a bathtub with shower device, shower curtain and sufficient storage space in wall and floor cupboards. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and can be used separately.
Our liquid gas boiler provides hot water and heat.
This holiday home is a detached house on a slope with two flats, each with separate entrances. The described holiday flat is located in the upper part of the building.

The holiday home is situated in the middle of the Wiedbach valley between Roßbach and Niederbreitbach in an idyllic and quiet hillside location at the edge of the forest in the small Waldbreitbach district of Gasbitze and directly adjacent to the Westerwaldsteig (over 235 km of selected hiking trails lead through deep green forests, green meadows, quiet valleys and breezy heights, through romantic villages past many sights).
This beautiful and peaceful spot can be reached in just under 1 1/2 hours by car from the Ruhr area or from the Frankfurt a. M. area. The forest is right on the doorstep and ideally situated for hiking enthusiasts and mountain bikers. To the centre of Waldbreitbach it is only a 5 min. drive by car (1,5 km). By foot it is only 1 km for which you need about 10-15 minutes

The small climatic health resort Waldbreitbach offers sufficient shopping possibilities for the daily needs. The very good general and dental care in combination with two pharmacies in the village promise optimal medical care
On the banks of the Wied, you can hire rowing boats and/or pedal boats and explore the Wied. In addition to the (annual) fireworks display "Wied in Flammen" (Wied in Flames) in conjunction with the funfair or a visit to the world's largest natural cot exhibition with over 1700 cots, many other interesting events take place throughout the year in the tranquil village of Waldbreitbach.
Whether for an active holiday or simply to relax, from hiking or walking to cycling or mountain biking, fishing, horse riding, tennis, swimming or paragliding, there is something for everyone. The possibility of playing golf is also available in the immediate vicinity (approx. 20 minutes by car).

Holiday in the countryside
We enjoyed our summer vacation in 2024 at the Hecker holiday home in Gasbitze. If you are looking for action, you are totally wrong here. In the depths of the Westerwald, relaxation and tranquility are the order of the day. The view from the holiday home is simply fantastic. It can't be described, it must be seen. The landlords are something very special in a positive sense (always accessible and ready for anything) :-)
Without a means of transportation, the holiday home is not recommended. The supply of all daily necessities in the village can be reached in a few minutes by car. Attractions on the Rhine and Moselle rivers are also easily accessible. All in all, we had a GREAT vacation with the Hecker family and would like to thank them again for their kind care.

Great location
This accommodation leaves nothing to be desired.
The great view, the Hecker family, old and young, are just great.
The area is also a jewel and very good gastronomy (including the ice cream parlour and Paganetti's) also highly recommended.

Short holiday - weekend
We had a very nice short pre-Christmas weekend in this accommodation. The flat is furnished with a lot of attention to detail, very cosy to feel good, absolutely recommendable. The location is basically beautiful, not walkable alone in the dark in winter.

Best feature, view!
From the village of Waldbreitbach, a fairly narrow and partly steep road leads to the small hamlet of Gasbitz and the holiday home of the Hecker family. Both were very welcoming and gave us a short tour of the holiday home, which is decorated in a homely atmosphere and very clean. It has its own entrance and front door. Large windows in the living room offer a beautiful view of the wooded Wiedtal. There are also French doors leading to a newly renovated, sunny terrace. Waldbreitbach offers extensive shopping opportunities and various restaurants. It's about a 25-minute walk to the village. The Wiedtal is a beautiful and diverse part of the Westerwald, and the Rhine is also easily reachable. Tip: visit the Malberg Hütte for good food and unbeatable views! It was great that our dog was truly welcome.

Dreamy autumn days in the Rhineland Westerwald
We were warmly welcomed by the landlords Marion and Rolf. This atmosphere remained until departure. That was a great start to our very pleasant holiday in Gasbitze/Waldbreitbach.
The holiday apartment alone is worth a vacation. Large panoramic windows that offer a spectacular view of the Wiedtal. On clear days, beautiful sunrises can be observed. All rooms are cozy and furnished with attention to detail. For example, we had a cozy seating area by the fireplace. Every evening tea lights were lit in various existing containers and thus created a cozy atmosphere. The fireplace is also enjoyable. We managed fine without a television. Anyone who wants to vacation here surely knows that the Westerwald is a paradise for hikers. The quiet dishwasher and the variety of cutlery, plates, glasses, and cups were also pleasant. The large double bed is wonderful to sleep in, even for someone with a back issue . The extensive description in the ad does not promise too much.
It is essential to mention the free Wi-Fi reception.
For those arriving by car, it should be noted that the property is slightly downhill. However, with cautious and careful driving, it is manageable, including maneuvering on the premises.
A visit to the "Zur Erholung" restaurant run by the Paganetti family in Verscheid is highly recommended! Best to take a hike along the Hochscheider Bach via Bärenkopp. And for those planning a vacation here in the autumn, like us, you can look forward to a wonderful procession in the neighboring town of Roßbach. At the Roßbach fair, as darkness falls, a procession of torchbearers, accompanied by two marching bands at the front and back, parades through the town. In the middle of nature ...
. . . is the lovingly furnished, clean, and superbly equipped vacation apartment. The 3 of us were warmly greeted by the Hecker family.
You can start hiking right from the doorstep. . . and it's only a few minutes to the center of Waldbreitbach. There, you can find everything for shopping and "indulging."
The Hecker family is happy to provide tips for hiking tours, excursions, and good food and always has an open ear.
We would like to recommend to readers here:
Nassen's Mill . . . . for excellent food
Pannhausen Cafe . . . for cakes & pastries
We cannot really evaluate the service point, as it is self-catered. However, we want to mention that we had towels included in our booking . . . and these were provided to us in more than enough quantity!
Additionally, there are plenty of cozy blankets available, so you can really make yourself comfortable in front of the fireplace in the evenings. Here also we would like to thank the Hecker family for the truly relaxing time . . . and now the vacation planning for 2015 will be completed promptly, so we can visit Gasbitze again in "green" . . . without ice and snow . . . and fully enjoy the hiking trails!

Recreational vacation with a twist
Idyllically located holiday home with good amenities. Everything you need for a short break is available. Hiking trails pass directly by the house and invite you to explore nature. There are plenty of shopping options in the village, so you don't always have to drive by car. Unfortunately, the otherwise good impression is slightly clouded by the cleanliness of the house not meeting expectations. It's a shame.

free time activities: Wanderungen können direkt vom Haus aus beginnen, für Kinder ist der nächste Zoo circa eine halbe Stunde, der nächste Tierpark circa eine Stunde entfernt. Schwimmbad im nächsten Ort. Sehenswert ist auch ein Ausflug an den Rhein (ca. 30 min.)
shopping facilities: Im Ort ist alles für den täglichen Gebrauch vorhanden. Schlecker, Norma und Rewe sind ansässig, eine gute Eisdiele und weitere Gastronomien sind vorhanden.

Dear Hecker family,
the apartment was excellent in terms of the furnishings, kitchen equipment, and cleanliness, and we can fully recommend it. Therefore, from our side, five stars and an additional "PLUS" for the helpful tips on hikes and local places in the area provided by you. The view from the terrace and the living room is unparalleled! On colder days, you can make yourself really cozy by the fireplace. Conclusion: Pure relaxation! Unfortunately, I cannot mention the service as it is self-catered, although on a cozy summer evening, we were indeed served a delicious soup by the owners. All in all, it was an all-around feel-good package. We will definitely not be the last time there with our dog to relax.

Dreamy family holiday in the countryside
A dreamily beautiful week has once again passed by far too quickly. We would have loved to stay a few more days. But this time, too, we were able to enjoy the peace, nature, and above all, the beautiful weather.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Wunderschöne Umgebung mit Blick auf die Berge, Wälder und Wiesen. Wohin man auch schaut, man sieht nur grün und Idylle!
free time activities: Es ist alles vorhanden was man für einen schönen Urlaub benötigt. Schwimm- und Freibad, Tennisplätze, unglaublich schöne Wander- und Mountainbikerouten direkt vom Haus aus.
shopping facilities: Auch hier ist alles vorhanden was das Herz begehrt. REWE, Edeka, Schlecker, ein paar kleine Boutiquen. Sehenswert sind aber auch besonders die Städte Bad Hönningen und Neuwied.

Restful short break
We spent a very relaxing weekend at Gasbitze on very short notice. The location of the house is excellent, offering the tranquility needed to unwind from a stressful week. It is in an idyllic landscape near the forest, yet only a 10-minute walk to the town center of Waldbreitbach where all shopping facilities are available. The house is perfectly furnished, everything is very tidy, and the cleanliness leaves nothing to be desired. The highlight for us was the open fireplace, which we used on both days. Fantastic! We have already reserved the next vacation! It will be much longer. Thank you for everything!

In Oberhausen, the cradle of the Ruhr industry, in Sterkrade to be precise, I, Marion Hecker, ran my own hairdressing business as a master hairdresser for almost 50 years and handed it over to my son, master hairdresser Kai Hecker, in 2014 when he reached retirement age. He now leads the 4. He now runs the old-established hairdressing business in a modern style Until then, we, my husband Rolf and I, looked after, maintained and managed the salon ourselves on weekdays from Oberhausen and on weekends at the location. When we handed over the salon to our son, we gave up our residence in Oberhausen-Sterkrade and have been citizens of Waldbreitbach-Gasbitze ever since. We have been at home here for over 45 years, feel comfortable, enjoy the peace and quiet and the nature that surrounds us And these are exactly the qualities we would like to convey to our guests in our holiday flat.
