The holiday apartment is located in a quiet hillside area and has a separate entrance from the garden, outdoor area with barbecue, terrace, garden furniture, sauna.
The apartment includes: a living room with satellite TV and radio, a dining room with kitchenette (refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, and coffee machine), two bedrooms, two bathrooms with shower/WC.
Bed linen and one set of towels are provided.
In one bedroom we can additionally provide a baby bed as well as a guest bed. The apartment was extensively renovated in 2026.

Our holiday apartment is located just 300 meters from the mountain station of the Oberweißbach Mountain Railway. Lichtenhain is a small holiday resort 600 to 700 m above sea level, situated on a ridge above the deeply cut Schwarzatal valley, 10 km north of the Rennsteig near Neuhaus, with a magnificent sunny panoramic location, fresh mountain air, relaxing tranquility and friendly hosts, mountain station of the historic Oberweißbach mountain railway, typical Thuringian Forest architecture with slate-roofed houses, most of the village is traffic-calmed, park and recreation area with children's playground, Lichtenhain forest railway,

Kontakt
Mr. Möller is a very nice man, he provides information and makes an effort to explain all hiking destinations well.
His wife, on the other hand, is very cold and very unfriendly. Guests should actually be treated nicely and if something goes wrong, one should still behave politely.
We do not need this kind of host.
The accommodation is at the level of East times.
Not recommended for tourists.

Great short holiday
Very nice and reasonably priced holiday flat! The landlords were very helpful and friendly. We felt very comfortable with our two little sons! The mountain railway was the hit for our almost 3 year old son! The accommodation is accessible by public transport (with mountain railway that runs every half hour).
Thank you for everything! We will definitely come back again!

Pure nature with nice landlords.
In the summer of 2015, the four of us arrived in the idyllic town of Lichtenhain and were warmly welcomed. The furnishings are simple but sufficient for a cozy, independent vacation. The 30 square meters are absolutely adequate for 2 people - it's a temporary solution for 4 people. Upon a last-minute request to set up a tent in the garden for our children, we quickly received a positive response from the landlord couple. So it even became an adventure holiday for our children. Within walking distance, there are 2 beautiful playgrounds in the village (on the way to the train station and shortly behind the train station) - which will surely be appreciated by families with children. The holiday apartment is located in a house on a quiet street (dead end), not far from the upper station of the Oberweissbach Mountain Railway. The train travel times (every half hour) are to be considered positive and in summer a highlight - the convertible car with panoramic view.
Shopping facilities (supermarket) and an ATM are located in the neighboring town (Oberweißbach), 2 km away. Those arriving in summer can visit numerous outdoor pools in the vicinity at very low prices. The approximately 10 km distant city of Ilmenau offers various cultural and sports facilities. The fairy grottos of Saalfeld, located 30 km away, invite young and old for a day trip, and those who want to enjoy tranquility will find the right path with hiking routes around Oberweissbach and in the Schwarzatal. In general, there are many interesting sights in the nearby area.
All in all - the hosts are super friendly and welcoming (happy to give tips for excursions). The apartment is far from traffic noise and other stress triggers, making it a pleasant and relaxing retreat for young and old alike.

First holiday apartment in a quiet location
We were very satisfied! Came with a dog and a baby, no problem. The vacation apartment has everything you need to relax and have a holiday. The sauna in the house is great. We will come back!

Dear guests, for more than 30 years we have been welcoming holidaymakers here with us on the panoramic mountains high above the Schwarza valley. It all started with a flat in our detached house. In the mid-90s we built an extension and two flats were created, each with a separate entrance from the garden. The sauna with relaxation room - also accessible from the garden - was added in 2007. Yes, and since we always had the dream of a holiday home, we took the opportunity in 2011 to acquire a building plot directly opposite. Since the beginning of 2016, we can now also offer our comfort holiday home Weitsicht. With a lot of personal commitment, we have tried to realise everything that we ourselves want from a contemporary holiday home. Just take a look inside.
