We were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Lehnert, and our time in the holiday apartment unfortunately came to an end far too quickly. The apartment leaves nothing to be desired; it is very well equipped. The beautiful winter garden with the great view of the lovely garden is particularly special. The seating furniture is so cozy that one enjoys spending time there and watching the birds at the feeding stations. We immediately booked our next stay and are already looking forward to that time. Thank you very much and great praise to Ms. Lehnert.

The area along the Moselle and the Saar is known nationwide, if not worldwide, for its excellent wines. The most culturally and historically significant city on the Moselle is Trier. The city has a history spanning over two thousand years since it was founded by the Romans. It quickly gained importance, as evidenced by the numerous historically impressive buildings that have survived to this day. The Porta Nigra is the best-preserved Roman city gate in Germany. Built in 170 AD, the gate is not only a landmark of Trier but also a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the Roman era, the amphitheater, three baths, the Basilica of Constantine, and the Roman Bridge are also preserved. Trier Cathedral, St. Peter, is the oldest cathedral in Germany and, along with numerous other sacred and secular buildings, attests to Trier's continued significance after the Roman era through the Middle Ages and modern times.
To ensure that the hiking vacation on the Moselle does not become monotonous, there is plenty of entertaining fun for children of different ages. In Traben-Trarbach, mystical creatures have their home and can be searched for on the Elf Trail. The five-kilometer circular route is lined with well-hidden dwellings of forest elves and the Oberon Seat. If the little ones want not only their parents as companions on a hike but also a furry, four-legged companion, they should visit the Abayomi Farm in Lieser. From there, hikes with shaggy alpacas start. The climbing trail at Calmont is more physically challenging. However, the nearly alpine effort is rewarded with an unparalleled view of the Moselle Loop. The climbing trail is conquerable for children from 10 years old.
When a Roman feast is not taking place, the typical cuisine of the Mosel - Saar region can be enjoyed. Here, the regional riches from the rivers Moselle, Saar, and Ruwer meet the fruits of the slopes. Ample sunshine and rain not only allow the wine to thrive excellently. The vineyard peaches testify to the climatically special conditions in the Mosel - Saar region as well as to the Roman tradition of the region. The ancient Romans once brought the peach to the Moselle. The stone fruits are enjoyed as a sweet dessert or in liquid form as a liqueur. The meal before can then be something heartier. Potatoes combined with fish or the Moselle eel are the lighter alternatives. A glass of fine white wine from the Moselle slopes completes the perfect Mosellan dinner. Over 2000 years ago, the Romans founded the city of Trier in their effort to defend the outer borders of their empire against "barbarians". In the process, the entire Moselle Valley was cultivated by Roman settlers. Viticulture was introduced to the valley, and roads were built for goods transportation. Today, many of the Roman structures are preserved and restored, or the remnants of them provide insights into ancient Roman life along the Moselle. The Villa Borg offers a glimpse into the life of wealthy Romans in the third century AD. A manor house, a Roman bath, and the garden were elaborately and detailedly renovated.
