One of the most beautiful buildings along the IJssel riverbank is the former synagogue in Kampen, which has been restored and is now used as a municipal exhibition hall. In Kampen, you can visit fascinating mills (Rossmühle, Mühle d'Olde Zwarver) or museums (Stedelijk Museum, Tobacco Museum, Icon Museum). The town of Ootmarsum is considered a true open-air museum of old Twente heritage. Delden is known as the pearl of Twente with its castle parks, manor houses, and mills. The most colorful village in the Netherlands is Staphorst, where traditional costumes are worn not just for events or tourism. Vlisteren is also worth a visit, where all houses belong to the impressive castle. In Deventer, you can visit the interesting Historical Museum to trace the city's exciting history. The Toy Museum even features toys excavated from the 13th century. One of the biggest highlights is the provincial capital, Zwolle, with its picturesque old town.
