A perfect vacation at Eefelhuus-Charly

We had a fantastic vacation at Eefelhuus-Charly! From the first moment, we felt at home there.

The holiday home is equipped with everything you need and truly exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean, tidy, and well-maintained. It felt wonderfully luxurious, and everything was taken care of. We even said to each other several times, "Shouldn't we just stay here?"

We also found the beautiful garden great. It was wonderful to sit there in peace with a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Additionally, you can take beautiful walks and hikes directly from the holiday home.

The landlords are friendly, warm, and helpful. This made us feel especially welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay and look back on this vacation with great joy.

An absolute recommendation! We would love to come back anytime.

A true "Eifel pearl"

We had a relaxing short vacation in a beautiful holiday apartment that is furnished with a lot of passion and attention to detail. The equipment is high-quality, modern, and very cozy due to the materials used (wood & natural stones). Everything is super clean and well-maintained and exactly as shown in the photos. From the welcome greeting, the coffee machine already filled with beans, to the very well-equipped kitchen, the comfortable beds, and the great bathrooms - nothing is missing. One feels immediately at home.
This is also, and above all, due to the two wonderful, warm, and hospitable people who created this gem and who take care of everything attentively and always helpfully from the first contact until departure. This was definitely not our last vacation at the "Eefelhuus" - we would love to come back.

Great holiday home

Absolutely great, everything you could wish for is available, perfectly equipped and super clean. If you could give more stars, 10 or more stars would also be appropriate. Very nice landlords, very friendly reception, Mr. Klotz showed us the whole house and explained everything important.

Which sights are there in Monschau?

Idyllic Half-Timbered House Meets Hiking Paradise

Those who delve into the cobblestone alleys of the Old Town around the accommodation will understand why Monschau is called the "Pearl of the Eifel". Charming half-timbered houses and rubble stone buildings, dreamy lanes, the babbling waters of the Ruhr, and wrought-iron bridges make over 300 years of city history come alive here. Discover the old world of coffee at the historic Wilhelm Maassen Coffee Roastery, founded by the great-great-grandfather Wilhelm Maassen. Treat your palate to the finest roasts in the original ambiance. The roastery is open from Friday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. (As of October 2023) A very special building in the beautiful Monschau Old Town is the so-called Haus Troistorff, which today is used for many exhibitions, seminars, and fairs. Picturesque and historic, the imposing Monschau Castle from the 12th century towers over the idyllic place and is worth the climb. It can be viewed from the outside all day. Inside, it currently houses a youth hostel. (As of October 2023)

What do you need to experience in Monschau?

Monschau's Most Unusual Sides

On your list of special attractions in the region, the so-called Red House should definitely be included, which gives you a rare insight into the lives of the wealthy cloth manufacturers who made their money with fine cloth in the Eifel. Here you will see excellently preserved furnishings in styles from Louis-Seize, Empire, and Rococo. Take a trip to Monschau-Kalterherberg with its beautiful old half-timbered and rubble stone houses in various shapes and the "Eifel Cathedral". In the immediate vicinity is the noteworthy Reichenstein Monastery, which perfectly rounds off your stay in an affordable apartment in Monschau!

What can you experience in Monschau with children?

Vacation with Dogs and Family in the Monschau Eifel

You don't have to leave your beloved pet behind here, as many landlords offer apartments in Monschau for a vacation with dogs. And what could be better than a long hike on the famous and highly acclaimed Eifel Heights Route? Here, both two-legged and four-legged friends can relax and enjoy the very diverse nature of the Eifel Nature Park. Families with slightly older children love to cycle in this magnificent nature, for example, on the connecting path to the Eifel, which brings them to the center of the special moorland of the Venn. Excellent diversion for the whole family on such a day is also the Experience Museum Learning Place Nature, which focuses entirely on experiencing the natural exhibits and is very entertaining. Ideal for an exciting day trip with children and dogs is the legendary Emperor Charles's Bedstead, where you can also have a wonderful picnic.

Where can I eat out in Monschau?

What the Eifel Has to Offer for the Palate

Your vacation in a private apartment in Monschau holds many special treats for you. The typical Eifel dishes are simple and convince with their quality, as they are seasonal. This includes game, especially wild boar dishes, headcheese, asparagus, dandelion salad with potatoes, or Mettwurst sausages from good local butchers. Visit the Felsenkeller Brewery Museum, where you will experience a museum dedicated entirely to the art of brewing. The "Hopfenstübchen" and, in summer weather, the beer garden invite you to relax with a glass of beer or non-alcoholic beverages. From Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, you can taste the beers here. However, during the winter months from November to March, the brewery is only open from Friday to Sunday. (As of October 2023) In Monschau, the particularly "sharp beans" at the historic Mustard Mill also attract visitors. In the old mustard mill, a very special mustard has been produced for over 100 years and six generations using an old water wheel.

What is a must-see in Monschau?

Culture All Year Round

In Monschau, near your accommodation, there is much to experience. The Christmas Market here is famous for its "living nativity scene," which is quite special. The Monschau Classic, an open-air festival with international musicians, is definitely worth your visit. Those interested in optical devices such as film and photo cameras should definitely visit the private Photographica and Film Museum of Wolfgang Geisel and see, among other things, NASA's high-speed camera and old Laterna Magica, and view the beautiful photos from the imperial era. A special attraction is the active Glassworks, where the art of glassblowing, passed down from the Romans, is still practiced today. Don't miss the demonstrations by glassblowers Valdemar de Sousa and Fernando Costa, and find something suitable for your home among the numerous glassware on display and in the sales shop.
