Perfect vacation apartment!

We were only there for one night, but we would have liked to stay longer!

The furnishings and cleanliness in this apartment were very impressive. The hosts really thought of everything one might need, and everything is of very good quality (e.g., the kitchen utensils). Although the apartment is located in the basement of a house, enough daylight comes in, especially on the kitchen side.

The apartment is spacious, with a pleasant layout (e.g. with a dining area by the window in the kitchen);
the bed did have a rather soft mattress (as I read in another review), but for me it was not too soft, and the sofa bed offers an alternative harder surface for people who are used to something firmer. The curtains really block out any daylight, unlike most vacation rentals or hotel rooms.

Since the surroundings are also very quiet, one can sleep well! The bathroom is perfect, with a showerhead with mist effect, very pleasant!

The private parking right in front of the house is also a pleasure for everyone from larger cities :-)

In summary, we would book this holiday apartment again next time in the region!

Best regards,
Jerome.

Beautiful spacious holiday home in a good location

We spent a wonderful vacation week. The hosts are very pleasant people who enjoy chatting. The house is wonderfully cool in the summer, well-maintained, spacious, and fully equipped. You can easily reach the nature reserve on foot or by bike directly from the house. We will definitely come back.

Perfect starting point for e-bike tours on the Saar and Blies

We (2 people) spent a week in this large holiday home near Saargemünd and were completely satisfied. The house is used exclusively, which offers a lot of privacy – the private parking space right in front of the door is particularly practical.

Amenities & Living Experience: The furnishings are well thought out: The kitchen is fully equipped, the living room cozy, the dining area inviting. The bedroom and bathroom are clean and functional. The additional guest toilet is a real plus. Small drawback: Those with limited mobility should note that there are a few steps to overcome from the kitchen/bedroom to the bathroom/living area – not a big hurdle, but worth mentioning.

The highlight: The location is a dream for e-bike riders. From here, the area around Blies and Saar can be wonderfully explored. Especially nice: The bike path on the French side – well-developed, scenic, and low in traffic. Saargemünd itself is quickly reached by bike, as are the small towns along the rivers.

Conclusion: For those looking for a quiet, well-located base for active tours (and who have no problem with the few steps in the house), this holiday home is a clear recommendation. Would gladly return!

Which sights are there in Saarland?

Attractions for Your Vacation around Saarbrücken

For your vacation in a holiday home or apartment in Saarland, you can plan to visit numerous historical attractions. Important buildings are located in Saarbrücken, Saarlouis, and Merzig-Wadern. Saarlouis is a historic fortress town that exudes a unique charm. Also interesting are the attractions of historical technology: The Ostertalbahn Museum Railway, the Mining Museum in Bexbach. Another interesting excursion destination from your vacation apartment is the European Cultural Park Bliesbruck-Reinheim. In this archaeological park, you can admire numerous finds from the area. The artifacts were discovered during excavations between the towns of Reinheim and Bliesbruck. Animal lovers will enjoy a tour through the Saarbrücken Zoo, the Werner Freund Wolf Park, or the Freisen Nature Wildlife Park. A great attraction is the Botanical Garden in Metz on the French side of the Saar Loop. It presents a wonderful facility in the style of an English garden over an area of more than 4 hectares. In the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, the Lorraine Escarpment, and the Saar-Nahe Uplands, you can embark on hikes or bike tours from your vacation apartment, leading you to beautiful natural experiences and viewpoints. You can also hike along the Saar-Hunsrück Trail. The trail impresses with its scenic potential: Vineyard and river landscapes along the Saar and Moselle compete with the forested ridges.

What do you need to experience in Saarland?

Highlights for Your Stay in the Tri-Border Area

The German-French Garden in Saarbrücken is a special gem of landscape architecture. Its diverse themed gardens and idyllic water landscapes make it a popular recreation center in the Saarland metropolis. Be sure to visit the Völklingen Ironworks. The former ironworks was shut down in 1986. Since then, it has served as an exhibition and festival venue. A large part of the historical facilities for iron processing still exists today and can be visited, such as the sintering hall, the ore hall, the blast furnace group, and the coke oven plant. The Völklingen Ironworks has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. For technology enthusiasts, a hike through the Mandelbachtal with its optical telegraph stations is worthwhile. At the annual Steam Spectacle at the end of April, you can ride trains pulled by original steam and diesel locomotives in the state of Saarland, in Rhineland-Palatinate, and in Luxembourg. The PERSPECTIVES festival is also held every year and has been a tradition for over 40 years. At this German-French festival of stage art, you will experience theater performances, circus, music, and dance shows in modern and experimental styles. In summer, guided tours and the popular Roman Days with craftsmen and mock battles take place at Villa Borg. Now book a chicly furnished vacation accommodation or a spacious apartment with a kitchen, for example in St. Wendel, Mettlach, or Losheim am See, in a prime location and enjoy a vacation with your loved ones tailored to your personal wishes between hiking trails and farms.

What can you experience in Saarland with children?

Family Vacation in Saarland

For a relaxed family vacation, a comfortable vacation apartment with a terrace or balcony is particularly well-suited as accommodation. You can rent the apartment directly in the city if you are interested in city trips. It is quieter in rural areas. Here, the proximity to nature provides relaxation and numerous entertainment options. A beautiful excursion destination for families with children is the Center Parcs Bostalsee. Bostalsee is located near Nohfelden in the northern Saarland and is an artificially created reservoir. Here, there are many opportunities for active recreation. You can swim and engage in water sports on the lake. The Aqua Mundo located in the park is particularly family-friendly. Also very nice are Calypso, a bathing and wellness paradise in the Saarbrücken Regional Association, and the Schaumberg Adventure Pool in Tholey. Several high ropes courses invite you to exciting heights and climbing adventures. On rainy days, parents and children can have fun on indoor playgrounds. The indoor karting track in Bous promises pure thrill. In summer, a canoe tour on the Saar or on the Blies is an impressive experience.

Where can I eat out in Saarland?

Saarland Specialties

In Saarland, culinary enjoyment is highly valued. The unique climate allows wine and fruit to thrive excellently. Agriculture produces high-quality meat, sausage, and dairy products. In home kitchens and in the numerous restaurants and wine taverns, fine and rustic dishes are prepared from regional ingredients. Rent your vacation accommodation in a holiday home affordably from private individuals and take advantage of the surrounding inns for a culinary exploration. If you have booked an apartment near the French border, feel free to take a trip across the border to acquaint yourself with French specialties. For your own supply in your accommodation, get regional products from farm shops or at the farmers' markets of local farmers. The farmers' markets are held regularly in Saarbrücken, Hornburg, Merzig, Neunkirchen, and Saarlouis. Participate in a tasting hike through vineyards and orchards or let yourself be seduced into a culinary journey across the countryside. Be sure to try the regional potato dishes such as Gefillde, also known as Gefillde Knepp or Gefillte Klee. These are stuffed potato dumplings filled with pork or beef mince or liver sausage. Dibbelabbes, a Saarland-style potato pan with dried meat, is also very delicious. Browse through special offers when booking your private vacation apartment to find an affordable place to stay. There, make yourself comfortable with your partner or family in a quiet and modern domicile and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere at the Saar Loop.

What is a must-see in Saarland?

Experience Art and Culture in Saarland

If you have chosen your accommodation near Saarbrücken, you can reach the cultural and historical attractions of the Saar-Lor-Lux region in a short time. Several menhirs from prehistoric times can be seen in Blieskastel, Rentrisch, and Walhausen. Excavations of Celtic and Roman settlements and fortifications show how they were once constructed. Visit the Hunnenring at Otzenhausen, the Roman Villa Borg, or the Roman Museum in Homburg-Schwarzenacker. Countless castles and fortresses invite you to explore. Saarbrücken Castle is one of the highlights. Also worth seeing are the Hohenburg in Homburg, the baroque fortress town of Saarlouis, and Karlsberg Castle. For art enthusiasts, a tour to the Sculpture Road in St. Wendel, and to the Stones at the Border near Merzig is worthwhile. Learn about the cultural history at the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Saarbrücken and the Museum of Rural Everyday Culture in Gerheim-Rubenheim. Regular events featuring drama, comedy, and music take place at the Saar Music Academy and on the stages in Saarbrücken, Saarlouis, and Neunkirchen.

How do I come to Saarland?
