Are you looking for a holiday home in southern Sweden that offers you absolute peace and relaxation but also the opportunity for a variety of activities in the midst of the beautiful Swedish nature?
Our house is situated on a hilly, varied nature plot of almost 8000 square metres in the middle of the Småland forest. There are tall trees, a birch grove, an old birch avenue, a small pine forest, sunny lawns, always shade, plenty of space to let off steam and play, and various fruit plants and berries
Herrafällan is a largely privately used holiday home, which is simple but practical and furnished with great attention to detail and is constantly being expanded. The property is almost invisible from the road (hardly any traffic) and the small wooden path that leads to the nearby lake.
Tour of the house:
You enter through the entrance with vestibule into a small, square hallway. From here you go up the stairs on the right to the upper floor, a door leads straight into the kitchen, which is fully equipped: Schnibbeltisch with chair, cooker and oven (new in 2018), small dishwasher (2018), large fridge-freezer (2018), microwave, kettle (2020), coffee maker (2019), lots of crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots, etc., and a large kitchen.
From here you enter the large living room with fireplace, 2 comfortable couches (2018), coffee table, dining table with 4 chairs and a bench for up to 3 people (2018), flat screen TV with German SAT reception and DVD player, music system with Bluetooth, board games for young and old and a book corner. Further seating is available throughout the house.
The toilet with hand basin and washing machine (2018) is centrally accessible from the kitchen and living room. From here you enter the shower, also equipped with a hand basin. Special feature: The toilet is also accessible from the garden.
If you go up the wide, old wooden staircase with handrail to the upper floor, you will reach a small hallway from which you can enter a bedroom with a double bed on the right. Straight ahead you reach a large bedroom with a double bed (individually adjustable head and footboard, 2018) and a cot. From here you reach another small bedroom with sleeping level and bunk bed for up to 3 persons . All rooms here have storage space for clothes and bedside tables.
The main house is about 88 square metres.
On the property there is a small guest house (about 12 square metres and about 15 metres away from the main house) which can be rented additionally - of course only by the tenants of the main house. It has two single beds, 2 bedside tables, a sink, shower, emergency toilet, coffee maker, hot plate and radio (see photos). "Klein Herrafällan" is ideal for accommodating heavy snorers, visitors during a family holiday, a friendly couple or the teenage children. It can also be added or re-booked on site at any time for a small flat fee (per week), please just contact us.
Outside area:
On the property you will find enough space for various leisure activities, recreation, relaxation, barbecues or just undisturbed sunbathing. You can play together (many outdoor games are available) or find 'your own spot'. There is a levelled football pitch with goal, 2 swings, shade and - weather permitting - sun. We have a fireplace, lots of garden furniture, tables and benches for eating outside.
Outbuilding:
In our old log cabin we have built a cosy, sauna, with rustic charm (2 walls have been insulated from the outside so that the old planks are visible) and a stove to heat everyone up! New since spring 2019: our outdoor shower by the birch tree.
Because even in Herrafällan the sun doesn't shine every day, on rainy days you can play one of the many board games inside or, since autumn 2017, organise a darts or table tennis tournament in our new activity rooms in the old barn. There are 7 bicycles, some of which are already older, which we maintain and care for once a year - these are also available for free use. Our canoe (Canadian) is located at Härtsjön and is included in the rental price. There is also the possibility to rent a rowing boat.
Additional canoes and bikes can also be provided - with a little more advance notice - for a fee, please enquire well in advance. You can also make use of our laundry service and book towels and bed linen, each per person.

*) The nearest public bathing place is in the small village Sävsjöström at the lake "Alstern" in about 3 km distance, many others are in a few minutes drive or bicycle distance.
*) 2 larger supermarkets are in Lenhovda, 11 km away, a small shop also in Älmhult - also just under 11 km away.
*) It is also only 20 minutes by car to the northern gate of the Småland glass kingdom (Målerås).
*) Grönåsens Elk Park is 27 km to the south.
*) New in Kosta is the Safari Park also about 25-30 km.
*) Kalmar, the gateway to Öland, is only 80 km away.
*) On Öland there is the Djurpark.
*) To the Astrid Lindgren World in Vimmerby only 100 km, about 1.5 hours by car.
*) Various fishing possibilities in the immediate vicinity (lakes and flowing waters), fishing permits can be purchased online. Fly fishing is well known in the Alsterån, which is only about 2 km away.
*) With a total length of 3.3 kilometres, the zipline at "Little Rock Lake" in south-eastern Småland is the longest zipline of its kind in Europe - that's "as good as around the corner".
*) Bicycle paths and hiking trails right in front of the house, a tourist bike tour along the old narrow-gauge railway leads through Sävsjöström.
*) By public transport you can get to Sävsjöström (bus connection from/to Växjö), from there it is about 3 km walk.

| Price information for 2023: We also offer: our guest house (see text/ pictures) for 2 additional persons for €175/ week and a linen rental service (5 towels (1 sauna/ bath towel, 2 large towels, 2 small towels, 1 tea towel), sheets, 1 set of bed linen) for per person and stay €22,50. With advance notice we can provide: 1 extra canoe €75/ week, extra bikes €25/ week/ piece. Electricity (comes from pure hydroelectric power) is currently charged at 35 cents/ kWh and deducted from the deposit. ATTENTION: in the current situation we cannot make any predictions about the electricity price in 2023, we do not want to earn money with electricity sales, but we also do not want to pay more. There is a corresponding passage in the contract. On request: short holidays (3 days=80%, 4 days=85%, 5 days=90% of the weekly price), but usually only from/to Saturday or without Saturday. Smoking in the buildings and bringing pets of any kind is generally not allowed, as we have allergy sufferers in the family. Cancellation terms:
Here is the translation to English: In case of cancellation up to 60 days before the arrival date, we charge a fee of 20% of the rental price up to 35 days before the arrival date, we charge a fee of 50% of the rental price after that, we charge a fee of 85% of the rental price. In the event of a cancellation, we will always try to re-rent the house—depending on the time remaining until the rental period begins, if necessary also with discounts. If this is successful, the canceling tenant only pays the difference to the amount of their own rent plus €200.

Rentals are made annually from the beginning of the Easter holidays until the end of the autumn holidays - by arrangement also during the rest of the year.
In the main season, the arrival day is always Saturday, but it is also possible to book short breaks of only 3, 4 or 5 days, which allow other arrival and departure days. Occupancy of the main house with a maximum of 7 persons plus infant, occupancy of the guest house with a maximum of 2 persons.
We provide a WLAN router (mobile internet from TELIA) with SIM card. Any available credit can be used / consumed. The guest can purchase credit and simply load it onto the card, we are happy to help with this.
The guest house with 2 additional beds can be booked additionally (at any time) and costs € 139 per week.
The bicycles are partly older and therefore included in the price free of charge.
Special conditions are possible for longer rentals. With advance notice we can provide: 2nd canoe €65/ week, additional bikes €15/ week/piece.
We want our guests to feel comfortable and have a good rest. We also don't like hidden costs and long final bills - so since 2019 the rental price includes:
1) the final cleaning of the main house
2) firewood for fireplace and sauna
3) our canoe
4) if the guest house is booked also the final cleaning of the guest house

Sweden in Autumn
Here in the absolute quiet, we find peace. The weather has been very good to us; the thick sweaters stayed in the suitcase.
In the house, we find everything we need.
The drive to Vimmerby is a wonderful journey into our own childhood. The way to the Katthult farm is also worth it.
Grönasen Moose Park, near Kosta, is also recommended.
All places are very well-maintained and lovingly arranged. The entrance prices are perfectly fine. Everywhere you encounter beautiful lakes, forests, and houses in many colors.
Shopping in Lenhovda is quite possible; the stores are surprisingly well-stocked and reasonably priced for their size.
'Fika' at Tadah is worth it. Coffee and the homemade cakes are very delicious.
Fueling at Ingo is the cheapest, at least that's our experience.
There are still so many beautiful impressions to share. . . . We will definitely visit Sweden and this house (or another one from these landlords) again.

Highly recommended!
We spent a wonderful week in Herrafällan with our 2 children (4 and 0). The location is super idyllic and the area very spacious - you can let children jump around here. The house is lovingly furnished, you feel comfortable right away, and everything you need is there. The small children's room behind the master bedroom was a hit: with bunk bed and nice and narrow as well as its own window. The information folder from the landlord is super informative, nothing is missing. Even the "support" and accessibility+assistance in case of a little problem is great! On the premises, there are various seating options, plenty of space to play, a shed with a table tennis table, and an amazing sauna - can be heated up to 100 degrees - truly remarkable!
In Lenhovda (about 10-12 minutes by car), there is a great coffee roastery (with a café) and an ICA + Coop - especially Coop is very clean! The cottage is a great starting point for activities in the surrounding area: a walk to the lake, nature reserve Våraskruv (about 5 minutes by car; highly recommended: beautiful hiking trail approx. 1.5 - 2 hours orange path), Grönåsen Elk Park (very natural park - grilling moose sausages at the large fire pit at the end! TOPP), visiting Kalmar (about 1 hour by car) and Öland -> worth it for a day trip! etc.
If you want to come with additional family members, e.g. Close friends, grandparents, small family with children) can also book the small sleeping cabin on the property! The price-performance ratio is very fair! Absolutely recommended overall!

Sweden at its best
Very nice grounds, very comprehensive care by the landlord, great sauna, rustic atmosphere of the house.....especially with children or as a couple a highly recommended holiday home!

A great family break
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed switching off in the midst of nature and exploring Smaland. Communication with the owners was so great, so helpful and committed... something I have not experienced before with "standard organizers".

Pure relaxation
A very special place in the midst of seemingly endless forests and very close to beautiful lakes: the house is superbly equipped and lovingly furnished. And if there wasn't so much to discover in Smaland and the in-house canoe and bicycles, you wouldn't really need to leave the relaxing tranquillity of the huge garden. The children loved the table tennis table and the many games; the adults spent so much time in the sauna.
