Family vacation

We were warmly welcomed after a 13-hour drive.
The garden is very idyllic, inviting for barbecuing and cozy gatherings.
From there, you can get anywhere; the moose park is highly recommended, with a moose to cuddle and a lake with a beautiful beach.
We will definitely come back.

Spacious house in Swedish idyll - great for families!

During our three-week trip to Sweden, we stopped in Totebo for a week and found a nice and very spacious house. Up to 8 people can stay there; one of the bedrooms with a double bed is a passage room to the children's room with two single beds. All the rooms are very generous and have good storage options and can also be darkened well. There is a shower room with a toilet on the first floor; there is no other bathroom on the ground floor. We greatly appreciated the existing washing machine; with children, it’s worth its weight in gold! Our kids were also very excited about the abundance of available toys and the huge garden with many play options (trampoline, playhouse…). Due to the sometimes changeable weather, we unfortunately couldn’t use the garden as much as hoped, but we enjoyed reading in the hammock and on the sun lounger under the apple tree. One or two more sun loungers would be a nice addition. The rooms themselves are furnished quite classically; some of the furniture is also older and shows signs of use. We missed a bit the comfort of a dishwasher and unlimited Wi-Fi, to perhaps stream a movie in the evening. The available internet works well in itself but is limited in terms of data. It is great that there is a small supermarket within walking distance in the neighborhood, which has a versatile range of products for its size and is close to many wonderful excursion destinations and the beautiful swimming spot at Nässjön. We enjoyed our time and can highly recommend the accommodation. Andy and Katja were always quickly reachable and attentive hosts.

Really enjoyed!

We really enjoyed our week-long vacation at Huis Höganäs!
We were warmly welcomed by Andreas. The house was wonderfully heated.
A spacious house with wood stoves everywhere. The house was clean and had everything we needed.
A lovely big garden. We used the boat, which was a 10-minute walk from the house by the lake, for fishing.
A quiet location. A beautiful area.

We have been to Haus Höganäs 4 times now and each time it feels a little more like coming home. That's partly because of its location near the sea/Västervik, close to various lakes, in the middle of (Astrid Lindgren's) Småland, and partly because of the cozy Swedish accommodation with a huge garden. We are excited to be able to come back again - there is always something old and new to discover.... Thank you and goodbye.

The archipelago tour offered by the landlord is great. Well worth it.

Our children liked their rooms and the living room invited everyone to stay cosy in the evening.

The holiday home is a fully equipped residential house. The garden is very large, child-friendly, and lovingly designed. The highlight for our children was the narrow-gauge railway that passes by the property several times a day. The holiday home is also accessible by public transportation.

Gute Zeit

We had a good time in Totebo with our adult children. The house offers enough space for everyone, is comfortable and practical. The wonderful garden was used by us in the morning, afternoon, and evening; you can find shaded spots or a sunny area for communal dinners as needed. The village's bathing spot is close and invites swimming, as do other wonderful bathing spots in the area. The children used the rowboat and bicycles - everything is available for a successful Sweden holiday. Andy and Katja are friendly and helpful hosts and always approachable. We will be happy to come back!

Our very spontaneous booking went smoothly thanks to the excellent communication, a special "thank you" for that. The garden with its numerous fruit trees is the ideal place to relax and test apple varieties. We enjoyed the peace and felt completely comfortable!

Beautiful, large holiday home with great garden near the archipelago

Beautifully situated in a small village. Bathing lake with boat within walking distance, small shop around the corner.
Everything is available in the house for children and parents (games, magazines, etc.). Beautifully furnished and very clean.
Many possibilities in the surrounding area, a trip with the narrow-gauge railway is very worthwhile.
Very nice, helpful, always accessible landlords.
We would book it again immediately.

A house with a dreamlike garden

Around the Pippi Longstocking-like house is a large, dreamlike garden with lots of play opportunities for children. The house was fine and we often went swimming at the lake. Most of the excursion destinations (Pippi's World, Elk Park, canoeing on the Langsjö, Vesterwiek, ...) are about half an hour's drive away, but it's worth it.

Plenty of space for a completely relaxing holiday.

We (parents with 2 primary school-age children) really enjoyed our 3-week vacation in Totebo. The house and garden offer all comforts and plenty of space for relaxation. The playhouse and various garden toys (dartboard, bocce ball, soccer, etc.) were extensively used by our children. A special treat is, of course, the historic train that passes by the house about 4-6 times a day (definitely not disturbing) and is greeted with waves by our children each time. With almost consistently summery weather (25 degrees, lots of sunshine), we tested the many idyllic bathing lakes in the area intensively, being particularly impressed by the Haussee in Totebo, which offers an excellent sandy beach under oak trees. Excursions to the beautiful and ideal for children's adventures archipelago coast around Västervik, which is also great for shopping, are easily possible in 30-50 minutes of driving time and highly recommended. Another highlight for our children, but of course also for young-at-heart parents, is visiting the original filming locations of the Astrid Lindgren adaptations Michel from Lönneberga or The Children of Bullerbyn, just a 30-minute drive away. During our visit to Michel's carving shed at Katthult, our children were almost in a reverent silence :). Finally, we would like to thank Katja and Andy for your superb hospitality! We felt completely at ease in your holiday home and, of course, during our tar tea session with you in Västervik, it was truly enjoyable! Especially after the stressful months of this Corona year, this vacation in Totebo was perfect for recharging our batteries. In short: Anyone who chooses a vacation at House Höganäs makes the right choice!

Charmantes, typisch schwedisches Haus

Very nice hosts, smooth communication, spacious, lovingly furnished house with a large garden, extensive kitchen equipment, very clean.
Unfortunately, Wi-Fi was not available during the time of our stay due to a technical defect.

Recovery successful

We were 8 people in the house, we didn't miss anything. 1 week was too short, we will definitely come back. A visit to the Viking village near Trelleborg should be included on arrival or departure. It's a 3-hour drive from the house, but the visit is worth it.

Tolles Ferienhaus

We had wonderful weeks with the whole family. Especially the huge and beautiful garden was an absolute highlight for our children. All attractions related to Astrid Lindgren are within a short drive by car, the narrow-gauge railway passes directly by the garden and is an attraction four times a day, with which we nostalgically traveled to Vestervik. With the boat belonging to the house, we caught pikes in the nearby lake, and the children splashed around in the water at the small sandy beach at the bathing area. Really very nice!

Holiday like at home.

This very cozy furnished house convinces with good equipment, a beautiful large garden, which was extensively used by our children. Picking berries, cycling through the village, and boating on the village-owned lake, the narrow-gauge railway passing behind the house... there is something for everyone. The next vacation is already booked, and we are looking forward to the next summer in Sweden! Thanks to Andy and Katja for the nice barbecue evening and the insider tips.

This holiday home is an absolute dream for all Sweden lovers. The house is ideal for families. The garden is a dream for children to romp in. There is everything you need in the house. There is even a washing machine. The location is quiet and ideal for relaxing. Not far away are activities such as the elk park or the Astrid Lindgren Land. Katja and Andi are always there to help and advise. This is the second time we have stayed in this house and every time it is hard to say goodbye. We have always felt at home. We felt very comfortable in the house, we didn't lack anything except for a toothbrush mug and umbrellas... ;-) Our children loved the huge garden, the hammocks and the climbing tower! Weihnachten in Schweden

We were able to spend a pleasant, quiet, and relaxing time in Totebo. Long walks in the forest, by the lake, or in the archipelago and sitting by the tiled stove in the evening to relax - that's vacation. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and were able to admire a decorated Christmas tree, thank you very much.

We had a wonderful week in Totebo and were more than sad when it was time to head back home. The fully equipped house has everything one could wish for. A huge garden to relax, good coffee :), lots of nature, comfortable beds, cleanliness, and inside, a lot of attention to detail. The surroundings of Totebo can be easily explored by foot, bike, or car. The bathing lake is just a few minutes' walk from the house, and those who enjoy a city feel can take a trip to Västervik.
Groceries for daily needs can be obtained at the village store, or you can take a leisurely 20-minute drive to the nearest supermarket, of which there are quite a few in the area. If you are interested in Sweden and its indescribably beautiful nature, you will find the perfect starting point in the Höganäs house ;-)

Full score and a little crown

I have been to Sweden for the 9th time and have never been so impressed by the house and the landlords.
Price: In the past, we have paid at least double and were pleasantly surprised!
House: I have never found a house so clean! No stains on mattresses, pillows, or blankets. Everything was freshly washed or newly purchased. Some of the mattresses were new and all were comfortable to sleep on. There is a children's room with toys and games, boredom is guaranteed not to arise. The house is very well equipped overall, we didn't miss anything. There is a large garden where our children could play every day, thanks to the large trampoline, wooden house with slide, swings, and hammocks. Bicycles in different sizes are available and can be used or were also used! A grill and clothesline are also on site.
Location: We find the location optimal because there is so much to discover nearby. In the past, we had to travel at least 45 minutes drive to do something. About 10 km away is the moose park Virum, a must if you ask us. They offer a moose safari, you get very close to the friendly giants, can feed them, pet them, and let them kiss you. Vimmerby is about 24 km away and a must for all Astrid Lindgren fans and antique furniture shoppers. Speaking of antique furniture shopping, you can also do that two small towns over, highly recommended. Västervik is a charming harbor town, you can see and do so much there. The lake nearby not only invites you to splash and swim, but also to row with the house's own rowing boat Luna. For the anglers among you, it's worth it, big pike and perch are available. Happy fishing!

Sweden vacation to dream of

In Sweden, following in the footsteps of Astrid Lindgren can be experienced 100% in the peaceful Totebo! After a proper Swedish breakfast with delicious coffee, crisp crispbread, and tasty salami cheese, you can discover Michel's woodworking shed or the Children of Bullerby! To end an exciting day trip, quickly jump into one of the thousand lakes, no problem here! The friendly landlords always have great tips ready! A trip through the nearby archipelago to the island of Haselö, for example! Many thanks for that! An absolute dream holiday in a super comfortable house, especially for children!!!

Dreamlike Swedish home for a limited time

You enter the front door and immediately feel comfortable. Everything you need is there. The mattresses are thin, but probably standard. For those who prefer more comfort and softness: bring an air mattress to place underneath ;-) And for absolute coffee lovers: bring your own machine or whatever you prefer. Everything else is perfect*. However, to experience Sweden, be willing to travel a few kilometers... by bike and car. Västervik, Gränsö, Moose Park, Vimmerby, Katthult, etc.

Charmigt pittoreskt sommarhus där ingenting fattas. Har allt man kan önska sig. Väldigt personligt och hemtrevligt inrett. Här har man även tänkt till när det gäller barnen. Naturskön tomt, att ligga och läsa en bok i skuggan under träden i hängmattan är en dröm!

Ferienhaus in Totebo

Restful days in a quiet location. The house is as described. The location is well suited for diverse excursions in all directions. Småland offers a lot here. Astrid Lindgren is of course present everywhere. A visit to the Katthult farm, Bullerby farm, both in a dreamlike environment, and much more is worthwhile. Västervik and the Gransö peninsula as well as the beautiful archipelago world are always worth a visit. All around, Småland is simply lovely. Large supermarkets are plentiful in Vimmerby and Västervik. For smaller purchases, the local store in Totebo is nearby. Andy and Katja are uncomplicated and very nice landlords.

Großes voll ausgestattetes Haus

The Höganäs house is a very large spacious house with a big garden. The facilities leave nothing to be desired. Especially the kitchen is fully equipped. There is a large refrigerator and a very good stove. You can tell that it is not a small holiday house, but a full-fledged residential house.
The house is also well suited for winter use. The stoves and modern electric heaters provide great warmth. With Västervik and Vimmerby, there are two cities nearby, and the nearby archipelago of the Baltic Sea is a beautiful destination for excursions.

Entspannungsurlaub

It was a great time at Andi and Katja's house. The house is super cozy, and the large garden is great. There are three full bedrooms, a large living room, and even lots of toys for the kids. We were even able to use the nearby lake despite the late season. The Virum moose park is only 7km away. A visit is highly recommended. We thank you for the lovely time and would love to come back.

Smaland was great!

The accommodation offers everything that suits a holiday with children: a large garden, many rooms, good amenities, lots of toys in the house and garden, especially the trampoline, and much more. It is decorated with great charm and is located in the middle of the forests and lakes of Smaland. The area offers many excursions, in addition to lakes for swimming, all Astrid Lindgren sites around Vimmerby, and also trips to the Baltic Sea are possible. The landlords Andy and Katja are very helpful and welcoming. They even invited us to a barbecue evening.

Ein charmantes Haus in Totebo

We spent a week here and felt very comfortable. The location is ideal if you want to visit the Astrid Lindgren Park and other sights in Smaland. Andy and Katja are very nice landlords and gave us great tips. The coast is about 40 km away and Vimmerby is about 26 km away. The Virum elk park is also only 10 km away and really great.

Relaxing holidays with games and fun!!!

In the "real" Swedish house, we lacked nothing. In the large garden, the children and the dog could play wonderfully. Right in the village and in the surrounding area, we found the most beautiful lakes and dreamy sea bays for bathing. The arrival and handover of the house was very good - thanks to the nice landlords. The tranquil village of Totebo was wonderfully quiet and very relaxing. The ride on the narrow-gauge railway to Västervik is a real tip!

A quietly located house with a large garden for playing and relaxing.

Staying at Haus Höganäs was just the right thing after a week of paddling vacation. We immediately felt at home here. We didn't lack anything, except for a Swedish TV channel to watch the weather report even without internet. The village of Totebo is the perfect starting point for various excursions, whether to the Baltic Sea or Astrid Lindgren's World. In the village itself, one can find not only peace but also shopping opportunities and a very helpful grocery seller who showed us where we could fish successfully. Our children then caught three pike in one evening at the nearby lake.
