Beautiful Småland

We were there with two teenagers who particularly enjoyed the rowboat on the nearby lake. It's about a 3-minute walk to the small supermarket, which is super convenient. You'll find everything you need in the house. The kitchen is very well-equipped. Good walks nearby, beautiful mixed forest. And there is street art at the sports hall. The view on the drive to Västervik is a dream.

New country, new house, new acquaintances?

Dear Andy, dear Katja,

it was our first vacation in Sweden. Your house Vårbacke was the perfect starting point for many great trips (like Kleva Gruba, the Elk Park, the Astrid Lindgren World, and the beautiful archipelago coast) and a relaxed family time.

The house is cozy, well-equipped with everything you need on vacation, and the location is perfect for excursions (of course, you need a car here - the surrounding forests and the bathing lake can be explored on foot or by bike).
Both of you, your children, and our great neighbors contributed to us having a wonderful time in Sweden (unfortunately, much too short...).
We would love to come back!

Holiday in the enchanting Smaland

Unfortunately, we were only in the beautiful house Värbacke for one week, which we inhabited with 2 adults and 3 children (13, 11, and 6 years old). The house had everything needed for a relaxing vacation. Our youngest daughter especially enjoyed the bicycle, puzzles, dolls, and the Michel DVDs (other Astrid Lindgren classics are also available :)). The town of Totebo is small and picturesque, but well-suited for reaching various destinations within a maximum of 1 hour by car. However, our children also enjoyed the walk to the bathing lake and the small supermarket that sells everything you need. Andy and Katja were friendly and accommodating hosts who were genuinely concerned about making us feel comfortable.

The house is beautiful and in a quiet location.
Just the right thing to slow down! Everything you need is there
A car is needed in any case.
The children have many possibilities to pass the time with books, board games and garden playground equipment.
We were unable to use the bicycles provided due to lack of time.
We used the holiday home as a starting point for many excursions!
A visit to the island of Öland is absolutely recommendable.
The visit to the Virum Moose Park was one of our highlights.

Excellent starting point

Whether you want to visit Astrid's World, Michel's Katthult, the sea or Småland's beautiful nature, everything is within easy reach from Totebo, and the village itself has a small shop with all the essentials. At the nearby lake there is a bathing place and there is even a vildhandel. The house is fully equipped for a small family with everything a child's heart could desire and you will have an entertaining time there.

Schönes kleines Häuschen

We had a wonderful time at the cozy house Varbacke. The house is well-equipped - from bicycles, various board games, toys, books, magazines to a superbly equipped small kitchen, even a hairdryer - so we didn't miss anything at all. Several lakes are easily accessible, making the children especially happy. We will surely miss starting the day with coffee in the sunshine on the bench in front of the house! ☀️☀️☀️

Relaxing family holiday in Småland

The cosy Swedish house is super equipped (including bicycles, play facilities in the garden and a rowing boat that can be used). From there, we were able to explore the wonderful world of Astrid Lindgren and enjoy many more excursions thanks to valuable tips from Andy& Katja. Especially the boat trip with Andy was great fun for our son. We will be happy to come back again!

Beautiful summer holiday with children

We, as a family of four, spent a beautiful and relaxing vacation at Varbacke House in Totebo. The house is a bit old but well-equipped and has a cozy charm that makes you feel at home right away. The lake in the town is excellent for daily swimming trips and there are so many excursion options in the immediate vicinity to suit all tastes, often also suitable for children (hiking, swimming, fishing, adventure world, museums, moose park, archipelago coast near Västervik, national parks, Astrid Lindgren everywhere...), so that in 14 days, it's almost impossible to do everything. Just the drive from Totebo to Västervik is a beautiful route on the first 15 to 20 kilometers that you'd want to stop every 5 minutes to enjoy the nature. Andy and Katja are super nice hosts and always have a good tip for activities. We will definitely come back!

Schönes Haus

Very nice house, equipped with everything. The handover was nice and worked smoothly. Only the WiFi leaves something to be desired, the volume is very low and was almost exhausted by the previous tenant. So we had no WiFi for several days. The use of the rowing boat is great, only the quality of the lake water is not nice. We had a nice week in Totebo.

Wunderschöner Urlaub

A wonderful vacation, especially because of this beautiful house in typical Swedish style and the great garden. We felt comfortable right away. The house is very clean and equipped with everything (and more) that you need for a vacation. Our children were especially thrilled by the dreamy and huge garden, and we parents also could relax here. We enjoyed using the boat Luna that comes with the house.

The surroundings are also great... Forests, crystal-clear lakes, moose park, Astrid Lindgren World. . . Every day there was something new and great to discover.

We felt really comfortable during our first holiday in Sweden and would love to come back again. Next time, for a bit longer.

Charming Swedish cottage with everything we needed. Very helpful, warm landlords whom you can always ask for help, especially if you are not so proficient in the Swedish language. They also provide tips for excursions, shopping, cash or card payment, etc.
The house is located in a small village where there is a small shop that offers everything for daily needs. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

Detta är vårt hus

Härligt hus för barn, barnfamiljer samt pensionärer som dessutom är mycket prisvärd. Utrustad med allt man kan önska sig. Värdparet har lyckats sätta en personlig prägel som gör att man verkligen trivs. Härlig naturtomt där man kan ligga i hänmattan där man kan läsa en bok och stressa av. Nära till trevliga aktiviteter för hela familjen.

Badplats med fin rodbåt i fantastiska omgivningar. Charmig och lantlig omgivning. 30 min till den vackra sommarstaden Västervik där du kan unna dig en middag på en av många fina restauranger.

Hela familjen, inte minst barnen älskade tillvaron, så även vår pudel Zoya.

Vi kommer definitivt tillbaka!

Great house in Småland

We were very satisfied with the well-equipped, lovingly renovated accommodation in a quiet, idyllic location. All sights around Astrid Lindgren as well as the lake with the great rowing boat and the beautiful city of Västervik as a gateway to the archipelago islands are quickly accessible. Our Swedish summer dream 2015

A great house where everything necessary and a little more is available. We were on tour every day: Katthult, Bullerbüh, Moose Park, Vimmerby, etc.

Verstervik is a charming harbor town from which many excursions can be started. The trip to the island of Hasselö was a highlight in fantastic weather with 24°C and pure sunshine.

In the small country store, the children could also get an ice cream and enjoy it in the hammock in front of the house. At the lake, everyone had a lot of fun and some even went out to sea with "Luna."

We would like to thank Katja and Andy once again; we had a lot of fun with you. Thank you as well for the many small tips and recommendations. We will come back, no question.

3 weeks family vacation in a very cozy holiday home

Lovely and cozy holiday home with plenty of space and a well-equipped kitchen on a beautiful property, very good support from the landlords, always available (thanks again for the nice trips with you!!). A very good starting point for excursions, even 3 weeks can be filled well. If you want to relax and slow down, this is the right place for you! Fishing opportunities in the vicinity, shopping and playground within a 5-minute walk. to achieve
All in all, we have recovered very well at an unbeatable price! The price-performance ratio is hard to beat. We will definitely come back again.

Vicinity of the holiday home: Ferienhaus liegt auf größerem Grundstück im Ort Totebo. See ist fußläufig erreichbar.

free time activities: Ein Badesee liegt in der Nähe. Ein Ruderboot konnte kostenfrei genutzt werden. Schöne Wanderungen in den naheliegenden Wäldern und Fahrradtouren auf den Nebenstraßen sind möglich. Ein Elchpark liegt nur rund 5 km entfernt und ist sehr zu empfehlen. In ca. 20 min erreicht man Vimmerby. Für die Astrid-Lindgren-Welt sollte man sich zwei Tage Zeit nehmen. Für Astrid-Lindgren-Näs (Museum mit schönem Garten)reichen einige Stunden (Hunde sind im Museum jedoch nicht erlaubt)Ausflüge nach Bullerbü und Katthult runden das Programm ab. Ausflüge zur Schärenküste sollten auf dem Programm stehen.

shopping facilities: Ein kleinerer freundlicher Kaufmann ist im Ort. Größere Supermärkte in den benachbarten Städten.

free time activities: Das man viel mit dem Auto in Schweden fahren muß, sollte jedem klar sein.Die "Schärenstadt" Västervik ist gut zu ereichen. Vimmerby (Astrid Lindgrins Welt)ist ebenfalls gut zu ereichen.

Nice holiday home with lots of extras and a very good value for money.

Ideal for a family vacation with children - we really liked it. The swimming area and the boat can be reached on foot in a few minutes, and there is plenty of space around the house for playing, etc. For bad weather, there are many games, books, etc. available in the house. German TV was only possible to a limited extent in bad weather - but you don't go on vacation to watch TV anyway. Overall, a very good value for money.

Familienurlaub im wunderschönen Smaland

The holiday house in Totebo served as our accommodation for our Easter vacation in Sweden. The house is very lovingly furnished and has a very good equipment. Vicinity of the holiday home: Das Ferienhaus liegt optimal um die Region Smaland mit dem Auto zu erkunden oder Spaziergänge/Wanderungen zu unternehmen. Innerhalb von ca. 30 Minuten kann man die nächstgrößeren Städte Västervik mit dem schönen Hafen und Vimmerby erreichen. Außerdem kann man auf den Spuren von Astrid Lindgren wandeln, was vor allem für Familien mit Kindern einen tolle Erfahrung ist.

free time activities: Die Umgebung eignet sich hervorragend für Spaziergänge oder Wanderungen durch die Wälder und Felder Smalands. Außerdem sind Besichtigungen und Besuche der Schauplätze der Geschichten Astrid Lindgrens für Familien sehr empfehlenswert. So kann man z.B. den Hof Katthult (Michel) besuchen oder auch Bullerbü entdecken. Absolut empfehlenswert ist auch ein Besuch in Astrid Lindgrens Värld. Die zahlreichen Badeseen in der Umgebung (auch in Totebo selbst) laden zum baden ein.

shopping facilities: In Totebo gibt es einen kleinen Supermarkt in dem man alles bekommen kann was man benötigt. Außerdem gibt es dort auch eine kleine Metzgerei. Größere Supermärkte gibt es in den umliegenden Dörfern/Städten alle sind sehr gut zu erreichen.

We were here, and we would do it again!!

Not only as a family, but also as a couple, it is very pleasant to live here.
The house is super beautiful and cozy. The equipment was good and complete so that we lacked nothing. We were only there for 4 days and that was by no means enough, because from Totebo you can discover and admire so much. We were very enthusiastic and we will definitely come back.

We stayed in the house Varbacke last summer, which was lovingly designed by Katja and Andy. We felt incredibly comfortable from the first day ... it was like being at home. This was mainly due to the lovely tips (excursions, exploring the area, ...) and the nice care by Katja and Andy.

Family vacation in Sweden at a top price

During the preparation of our first vacation in Sweden, we came across the holiday home Varbacke on the internet and promptly booked it for two weeks in July/August. As expected, we did not come across a typical Swedish house, but rather a mostly freshly renovated, solid house located on a beautiful sloping plot on the outskirts of Totebo. By Swedish standards and especially considering the rental price, there are no aspects to criticize. On the contrary, one can assign a whole list of positives for:
- a complete equipment,
- personal care by the landlords,
- numerous toys in the house and several swings in the garden,
- the rowing boat Luna,
- etc.

free time activities: in der Näheren Umgebung gibt es für Groß und Klein vieles zu entdecken - perfekt, um auf Astrid Lindgrens Spuren zu reisen. Die Küste ist nicht weit entfernt - sie bietet auch viele Möglichkeiten zur Freizeitgestaltung.

shopping facilities: im Dorf selber gibt es einen Landhandel und einen Metzger. Sehr hilfsbereit und alles vorhanden, was man zum Überleben braucht. Für den größeren Einkauf fährt man ca. 25km - welches eine schöne Fahrt durch das Land verbindet.
