Ideal for a relaxing vacation.

I had a great time in the small vacation home of Salavatore and Lisa. The both of them are warm people who provided me with Nduja and other local specialities right away. It's not far from Tropea and other beautiful places on the coast, and offers an idyllic, green retreat!

Very relaxed cottage

The cottage has everything you need, including a washing machine. The garden is very quiet and pleasant. You can spend a lot of time in the warm sun on a deck chair. tropea is 6 km away. The town has a beautiful centre and a wonderful beach. While bathing in the water, you can look at the rocks on which the town was built!
The hosts took great care of me and were very nice. I was offered fruit from the garden, some liqueur and fresh ricotta.
I would definitely come here again.

Relaxed location in beautiful Calabria.

The two days I spent at Casa Stella were very relaxing and quiet. The host took very good care of me and even provided fresh fruit from his garden.

Thank you Salvatore and Lisa!

We had a great time at Salvatore and Lisa's Casa Stella. Even if the weather was not great, we enjoyed the sunny hours in the large and beautifully maintained garden, or on the veranda of the holiday home.
One evening, Lisa spoiled us with culinary delights and in the morning we enjoyed oranges from her tree and kiwis from her garden. The couple goes to great lengths and cares about their guests. I can only recommend the cottages. We felt very comfortable the whole time and were able to rest well. Many thanks to Salvatore and Lisa for everything you did for us.

wonderful holiday home

A much too short, wonderful time in the holiday cottage of Lisa and Salvatore, such very lovely hosts. We were spoiled with their own and regional products and got to know and love Caria and the surrounding area thanks to their valuable tips. Our holiday cottage was a feel-good oasis with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Caria, Tropea and the west coast of Calabria, as well as our excursions inland and further south, are worth the trip. We have not yet explored everything, but we will be back and are looking forward to our next holiday with Lisa and Salvatore.

Very pleasant and hospitable hosts

We were warmly welcomed by Lisa and Salvatore and were spoiled by them with many different regional delicacies, we were also allowed to nibble from the garden.
The house had everything you need for a stay. It is a quiet location where you can switch off well, although it is directly on the main road (holiday homes are at the back). Salvatore's directions also make it easy to find the accommodation. The excursion and restaurant tips are also great. Also to the beach, which is about 15 mins away by car. Walks in the surrounding area are possible, but we would recommend a car as the place is above Tropea. This makes excursions into the surrounding area no problem. We felt very comfortable and thank Lisa and Salvator for the wonderful time. We will be happy to come back.

Wonderful accommodation and warm landlords

We (a family of 5) spontaneously decided to explore Calabria. we spent 1 week with Andrea (Salvatore's nephew) and 1 week with Lisa & Salvatore. The house Casa Stella is a wonderful place to stay. Lisa and Salvatore came almost every day and brought us fruit, crossaints, cheese etc. We were given tips about the area. We were also provided with tips about the area. We were lucky enough to be present at the bean festival in Caria. Which was also a highlight. Calabria is a very beautiful area. We explored Stromboli by night, Pizzo, Capo Vaticano, Tropea, Aspromonte National Park, Reggio Calabria and the beautiful fishing village of Scilla.
Lisa & Salvatore put their heart and soul into pampering their guests and introducing them to the specialities of Italy to bring them closer
We even had tartufo (an ice cream speciality from Pizzo) as a farewell. We will definitely keep in touch and come back again
Thank you very much for everything ? We hate to go home.

Highly recommended

Very friendly and always helpful. If we had any problems or questions, they were there to help us immediately. We were provided with fresh eggs, fruit, regional dairy products and sausage. We were given recommendations of the different beaches as well as the different sights. It was a very nice holiday with a toddler. We are sad to leave, but will definitely come back.

Ideal stopover

Dream vacation and relaxation in fascinating nature.

For the umpteenth time, I set out on a journey to spend a wonderful holiday in Calabria with Salvatore and Lisa. I got to experience the olive harvest, pick lemons, tangerines, and persimmons, and take home lots of delicacies like red onions, Pecorino cheese, fruit, and, of course, the finest olive oil. Lisa and Salvatore pampered me with local food, I enjoyed the peace and wild nature during my walks, and relaxed in the delightful garden under olive trees. A vacation at Salvatore and Lisa's is worth it in every season, everyone is welcome from young to old, whether two or four-legged. There are beautiful beaches, boat trips, hikes, and sightseeing tours to enjoy. A visit to the ever-spurting volcano Stromboli and its little brother Vulkano are still missing on my list, so I will definitely come back and already look forward to it.

Urlaub mit Hund

Vacation with Salvatore and Lisa is like vacation with friends. Almost every day there are small and big loving surprises! You don't feel alone in a foreign country because they are always there for you. Whether it's recommendations for restaurants or trips. We really enjoyed the vacation! You can do a lot or just relax on one of the many beautiful beaches. The area is very beautiful and green! One lives very quietly, Caria is a small cute village with a beautiful church, a small shop, and 2 bars with coffee. We recommend vacationing with Salvatore and Lisa for a holiday with dogs, for singles, and it is possible for disabled people to stay, just not for wheelchair users. There are no stairs, all on one level, including the shower entry. However, a car is necessary.

Wonderful accommodation

We stayed in the holiday apartment Stella, everything was very clean and well-equipped. The beds allowed for a good night's sleep. The three apartments are located idyllically in a garden away from the road. Very quiet and secluded, yet the beaches and places are easily accessible. The hosts take very loving care of the guests, occasionally spoiling them with treats like cheese, bread, cake, eggs, fruits/vegetables, and wine. There were also always tips for nice places or beaches. I can only recommend this small "resort", we felt very comfortable and enjoyed our vacation. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Fantastic holiday in a great, quiet and lovingly designed location

We 2 adults and 2 kids had a wonderful time with Lisa and Salvatore. Our holiday home was well maintained, clean and everything we needed was there. The lovingly designed garden has a very high recreational value, there is enough space for the children to play and the location is wonderfully quiet. In the evening it is very cool on hot days and you can enjoy the time on the terrace with a fantastic sunset with a view of Stromboli.
The great helpfulness of the two is also just great. We had a car breakdown on the way to our holiday on the motorway and Salvatore offered us his help directly, through his recommendation of a workshop and the establishment of contact we were able to take our car back repaired after a few days.
The local delicacies that Lisa and Salvatore brought us almost daily were also very nice and delicious. Our well-being was very close to their hearts. Thank you for the great time with you.

Toller Urlaub im Casa Stella

We had a very nice summer holiday with Lisa and Salvatore in Calabria. We spent 2.5 weeks as a family of five at Casa Stella with two teenagers and our two-year-old. The cottage is quite small (two bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen), but very lovingly furnished with a beautiful covered terrace, outdoor shower and sink, barbecue, and around it a beautiful garden with a hammock that we used well on the lawn under the olive tree. And one usually spends most of the time outdoors :-). Children are very welcome and have plenty of space on the premises.
Salvatore and Lisa were very warm hosts who welcomed you with food and drinks and occasionally surprised with fresh eggs, bread rolls, Calabrian specialties, a bottle of wine, or a salad from the garden. They took great care of us and provided recommendations on what to do, when there are markets in each town, or where the most beautiful beaches are located - including insider tips on where to park for free in Tropea or where to get a rapid test for the return flight. And afterwards, Salvatore even arranged for the forgotten phone charger to be returned to us. The location is very beautiful - situated on the edge of the small village of Caria at around 400 m altitude, it is actually a few degrees cooler at night than on the coast, which was very pleasant. Nevertheless, you are not far from beautiful beaches (about 10-15 minutes by car), where you can also snorkel. We had a very nice time and would love to come back.

Feel like at home

Great holiday in Calabria with Lisa & Salvatore

We had a very nice week at Lisa & Salvatore in Calabria.
The house Casa Stella is functional, very clean, and really well located.
The hosts actually brought us something every day, fresh eggs, bread, cheese, ice cream... we ate great!
Excursions are easily possible from Caria, the beach is about 7 km away...

Super vacation.

A splendid oasis of tranquility with many special features.

We felt incredibly comfortable. Lisa and Salvatore's holiday homes are so lovingly arranged and furnished. Everything is clean and hygienic, simply perfect. Shade providers are olive, lemon, and kiwi trees, which already give such a special flair. Caria is a cute village, up on the mountain. The air, even in hot summer months, is wonderfully cool. Salvatore and Lisa are exceptionally warm hosts who provide great tips to explore the beautiful region. The typical Calabrian delicacies that Salvatore occasionally brought over made our vacation perfect. We have never felt so comfortable, never had such a great vacation, and been able to enjoy relaxing days. Thank you Salva, thank you Lisa, we will come back again and again.

Holiday in Calabria

We (4 adults, two 4-year-old children, and three dogs) felt very comfortable and well taken care of with the Rombolà family. They made sure that we lacked nothing and we were pampered with culinary delights. The accommodation offers everything needed for a great vacation, the children could play in the garden for hours, and we didn't have to worry about the dogs as the entire property was fenced and they were also welcomed. The garden with its diverse fruit and plant/flower offering is beautiful to look at. Tropea, the small town on the coast, invites you to stay, and we had no problems with the dogs there either. The beach with its long coasts and diverse vegetation is super beautiful and brought joy to everyone. In short, a great vacation with nice encounters that we will definitely repeat.

Holiday in the "wild" south

We were in Caria at the end of September, had wonderful weather, and enjoyed our time in Calabria after a long journey by car, where much is still wild, original, and somehow "normal." Salvatore and Lisa welcomed us very warmly, and Salvatore made it a point to let us taste all the local specialties, whether sweet, salty, or spicy. He even served us a bean stew made by his mother once! The beaches in the area are beautiful, we were always at an even more beautiful beach. :)
The house was clean and functional.
The landscape is mostly really green and fertile.

The time with Salvatore and Lisa will remain a wonderful memory for us. The two are wonderful hosts. We were pampered with delicacies every day: eggs from their own chickens, olive oil, ricotta, mozzarella, and fresh bread on the terrace almost every morning. Moreover, from Caria, every imaginable vacation pleasure is easy to experience: the beaches of Tropea and Capo Vaticano, the hiking trails of San Bruno, Pizzo, or Vibo Valentia. Simply top! 5 stars! Very warm hosts, who pampered us with delicious and typical products of the region! The red onions from Tropea and for those who like it spicy: The spicy raw sausage 'Nduja! As a spread for bread or to refine sauces. Very tasty! Delightfully beautiful and quiet location. In the evenings, a glass of red wine after the excursions. As a family of five, we were all very excited! Just under 10 minutes by car to Tropea and with good visibility, you can see the 60 km distant volcanic island of Stromboli from there! The surroundings are ideal for exploring. The host Salvatore will provide you with very useful information and tips. Among other things, his recommendation is Stromboli at night - a hit! Or Pizzo with the 'Castello Aragonese'. To motivate you, try the Italian ice cream specialty 'Tartufo di Pizzo' invented in Pizzo. Super delicious and the children will be thrilled! Of course, the wonderful beaches around Tropea, which are mandatory in the summer at the ideal temperatures. For example, to visit the famous viewpoint of Capo Vaticano. Definitely also visit the pilgrimage church 'Santa Maria dell'Isola' in Tropea, which is located on a rock. Now we have to stop writing, otherwise we will book the apartments for our next vacation. Our children (and of course, we adults) are still benefitting from the enjoyable excursions and relaxing beach stays! :)

Super Ferien

We had a very nice week in Caria. Salvatore and Lisa are very hospitable and super nice people. We were very satisfied with the location in Caria, about 10-15 min. away from Tropea. In the village and surroundings, there was everything you need. After a 15 min. drive by car, you can reach a shopping center where you can get everything. Tropea and its surroundings are very beautiful and invite you to explore.

In an absolutely quiet location yet quite central. 15 minutes to the beach or to Tropea. Good shopping options. A beautiful area to take the dogs for a walk. The garden is securely fenced in (which is very important with two small dogs!). The hosts, the Rambola family, have pampered us in every way, especially with regional products. The house and garden invite cozy evenings. A dream holiday home and a MUST for dog owners who want to spend a beautiful summer with their beloved pets!

Wie zu Hause

My middle-aged friend and I had a wonderful and unforgettable holiday in unspoiled nature this year at Salvatore and Lisa's place. Salvatore and Lisa take care of their guests, providing them with bread and fresh eggs in the morning, or even warm ricotta cheese to pamper and pleasantly surprise sleepy guests. As a nice welcome gesture, a bottle of red wine and freshly pressed olive oil were waiting in the room. It was very warm and personal. we felt at home. Salvatore gave us some tips on excursions and since we liked it so much, we decided to say goodbye to the summer in Caria and are flying back there for nine days in September.
There are beautiful beaches nearby, and of course, Tropea and Pizzo are places that must be seen. We recommend this accommodation to people looking for peace, not needing hustle and bustle, no disco, no shops because there is none in Caria. Instead, every Friday a fisherman comes to the village, there is a market with fruits and vegetables, a cafe selling fresh croissants, and that's all you need.
We are very happy that in a few days we will meet this beautiful nature and the lovely people again.

Traumurlaub

We were hosted by Salvatore with two adults, two children, and two big dogs and enjoyed every minute to the fullest! Almost every day we were pampered with Italian delicacies by our hosts, received tips and tricks for beaches, excursions, and shopping. The location is quiet and away from mass tourism, but there are various shops and a playground in the village, everything else is just a few minutes away by car. The chalet is simple but fully equipped, the garden is a dream.

Holiday home in Italy located quietly and idyllically

We had two wonderful weeks in Caria, lots of sun and beautiful beaches (Tropea and Cape Vaticano) just a few minutes by car. You could enjoy ice cream and stroll through small alleys in the 7km away Tropea. We really liked the location of the holiday home, due to its quiet position in the small village of Caria and the idyllic atmosphere of the lovingly maintained garden. The house had everything we needed with towels, a fully equipped kitchen, and garden furniture for outside.

A True Calabrian Experience

Sal and Lisa are exceptional hosts. They both work very hard to insure that their residents are comfortable and all of their needs are met. Their properties are conveniently located to all that local attractions including the scenic beaches, trekking and biking trails, along with historical sights. Our dog, who is only 1 year old, could enjoy the fresh air in the garden day and night, as the house is securely fenced!

Simply an excellent, dreamlike holiday.
The sea is also not too far away, about 10km, so you can enjoy the beautiful area on the way to the sea!

Insider tip (still)

We were greeted, as described in previous reviews, with rice salad, melon, eggs, homemade wine, etc., which was a dream for our arrival time (10pm). Salvatore regularly brought more of this and even fresh bread rolls for breakfast at the weekend. First and foremost, the charm of the surroundings in the countryside was a reason to spend our holiday here.
Here are a few tips on the surrounding area:
-Inexpensive shopping market in Vibo Valentia at EUROSPIN. It is located directly on the main road from Caria to Vibo Valentia. On the way there we found the cheapest petrol station in the area. But you can buy fruit and vegetables from the street vendor or at the vegetable market.
-Fishing, snorkelling and boat trips with the funniest and German-speaking skipper (Daniele) in Calabria can be found on the internet at "Calabria-Sport-Fishing"
-Once a week the fishmonger comes with fresh fish right to the holiday home.
-In Caria there is a very good pizzeria directly on the main road (on the right) in the direction of Tropea. This is inconspicuously located just before the right-hand bend. We drove past it so often that we regretted not having visited it until quite late.
-We were more likely to be in secluded bays. The first two are reached by steep steps down to the sea and in some cases you had to climb a bit over stone blocks. When the sea is calm, you even stay dry. ("Terrazza Naturale Marinella, Zambrone VV, Italy" or "Via Ermenegildo E. Tropea VV" or beach at "Contrada Brace, Ricadi VV, Italy"). The latter can be reached by car and parked in the shade for 3 euros.
-The last tip is the Raganello Gorge in Civita. "Hiking in the Raganello Gorge". Although this is almost 200km away, it was an absolute highlight for us. In Civita you can also sign up directly for canyoning.

Holiday with children

We had a fantastic holiday, salavatore and lisa are great landlords they welcomed us with rice salad fresh melon and cold drinks, in the morning they brought us fresh rolls and bread and asked if we were missing anything. They are totally fond of children. on the last evening we all had an ice cream and fun conversations. Salvatore speaks very good German and with Lisa it is easy to talk in English. Salvatore has many good tips on what to do. They are also very helpful with problems. The holiday homes are very clean and well maintained, all in all a great holiday. We come again

Wunderbare Ferien

The hosts of the holiday home are very accommodating, friendly, familiar, helpful, and not intrusive, we lacked nothing. Especially the delicious pecorino cheese and fresh bread in the morning are worth mentioning. Every Monday and Friday, a fishmonger comes with freshly caught delicacies from the night to Salvatore's property, where you can get the freshest fish at good prices. The house and yard dog Beagle Gennis has become very dear to us. This accommodation is also perfect for dog owners. We are looking forward to the next vacation! Because we will come back.

Very nice vacation

We spent a wonderful and very peaceful late summer vacation with our dog in Caria. Lisa and Salvatore are very attentive hosts. It was our first vacation in Southern Italy. Salvatore speaks good German and gave us many valuable tips for our initial explorations. Lisa provided us with fresh fruit from the garden almost daily. Despite sometimes still quite summery temperatures at the beach, it was pleasantly cool but not cold in the higher-altitude Caria. We will definitely repeat the vacation.

There you learn what hospitality is.

Vacation with a dog, unwind, gather strength for the gray everyday life. That works excellently. The fresh bread rolls in the morning on the veranda pillar, the delicious fruits fresh from the garden, the fresh ricotta, the almost daily visit of the fisherman and his fresh fish sizzling in the pan. That's vacation according to our ideas. Behind all this are Lisa and Salvatore, with whom we felt really well taken care of. Anyone who wants to get to know Calabria and its people, explore the many beaches, and discover the numerous sights is in good hands here. The friendly, almost friendly way of the hosts deserves only guests who appreciate it. Distance didn't matter. From the moment of arrival, it is forgotten. Thank you Lisa, thank you Salvatore!

Hervorragende Lokation

The accommodation fully corresponds to the description and is highly recommended without reservation. Federico is a very friendly host. Due to the altitude, it is very pleasant in the evenings (especially not too warm when sleeping!). The place is well suited for exploring the entire area. Tropea is less than 15 minutes away. A car is necessary.

A great week in Calabria

We, as a family (2 adults + 2 children / 10 & 12), spent a very nice vacation week with Salvatore and Lisa. The hosts are extremely friendly, helpful, and gave us very good tips regarding beaches, restaurants, bike tours. . . . Salvatore also speaks German, so communication is quite easy. During our travel period (mid-June 2016), we had sufficient good weather to go swimming in the sea without encountering crowded beaches. At this time of year, also an excellent price/performance ratio.
100% recommended.

The nearest beach is approximately 7km away - car required.

The landlords (Salva and Lisa) are very helpful, courteous. (fresh bread every morning, other delicacies from their own production - wine, olive oil, salads, ..., lots of insider tips!)

Where Italy is still original

For everyone who wants to experience the authentic Italy, a great address.
Salvatore and Lisa are the perfect hosts, and we felt like we were staying with friends that week.
The area around Tropea is beautiful with great beaches and sights.
But definitely rent a car because the only downside is that it's very difficult to get around on foot. So not suitable for hikers. But those who seek peace and relaxation are in good hands there, and we will certainly not have been there for the last time.

Calabria was worth the long journey. Particularly worth mentioning is the hospitality of Lisa and Salvatore. A warm welcome and always approachable and helpful. Through them, we were able to experience Calabrian lifestyle. The large garden provided fresh vegetables and fruit, and in the mornings we were spoiled with fresh bread. The accommodation in the fenced chalet surrounded by ancient olive trees provided everything for a beautiful and relaxing holiday for us and our dog. We felt very comfortable and wish Lisa and Salvatore all the best from the bottom of our hearts. We would love to come back. :)

Lisa and Salvatore have a beautiful property, a large garden with lots of fruit and vegetables. They are fantastic hosts and always make sure that everyone is doing well. We spent 3 weeks there and felt very comfortable. There is always something going on there, whether it's tourists, helpX workers, or cyclists. A great experience

This vacation was the most diverse one we have ever had. We could schedule our working hours ourselves, so we took care of our duties in the morning and explored the beaches of Tropea in the afternoon. Due to the variety of beaches, we visited a different one almost every day. We especially enjoyed the communal meals with the host parents and other guests. On weekends, we received Italian specialties from our host mother. The city of Tropea is quickly and easily accessible by car and offers everything your heart desires, such as: bars, restaurants, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and more.

We can recommend this accommodation with a clear conscience :)

For the 3rd time, everything is TOP!!!

Not without reason were we in Caria for the 3rd time. We love the seclusion, the great garden, and the dreamy terrace. The chalet is functional but equipped with everything you need for a nice holiday. Even a "German" coffee machine and a washing machine are not missing. The Rombola family is very nice and helpful! You can only feel comfortable there! We have gladly recommended this accommodation multiple times already!
We are looking forward to the next time!

Fantastic sunny holiday in beautiful Calabria.

We had one of our most beautiful holidays at Salvatore and Lisa's! In our small but nice 'garden cottage', comfort and privacy were present from the first minute with the enclosed garden. There was always a breeze in Caria and the climate was very pleasant, also wonderful for sleeping at night. Salvatore and Lisa welcomed us with Calabrian specialties and vegetables from the adjacent garden more than hospitably. Our dog Cheri felt completely at ease in her garden realm :) the distance to the sea is no problem with a car, you just have to give yourself some time to explore the coast and find bathing spots. The food in Calabria leaves nothing to be desired for us! This is exactly how we imagine a summer vacation! We will gladly come back! ! Only small downside: the litter on the streets and the red fires on the slopes - unfortunately this slightly tarnishes the landscape, even though the coast and the sea are simply fantastic!

A wonderful holiday week with the Rambola family. The chalet is very nicely located, with a fenced garden, which was great for the dog. Everything you need is available in the chalet, and the family repeatedly treated us to regional delicacies. It is quiet and in the hills, so it doesn't get too hot during the day, but you are also close to the beaches. We will definitely come back next year as there is still much to discover. Dreamlike environment for nature lovers and yet close to Tropea.

We spent a fantastic 10 days here in the wooden chalet with our own fenced garden. We were wonderfully welcomed and LBsa and Salvatore took good care of us, looked after us, and gave us tips for wine tastings, sightseeing, and much more. Super hospitable. . . Here you get to know the real Calabria. And in the small village, there is also a small market for bread and the essentials. . . When we come back to Calabria, we will come here again. The distance to Tropea and the other places by car is no problem (10 minutes).

Affordable holiday near Tropea

Ideal for a holiday with a dog, simple but functional equipment. The lovingly furnished garden cottage is located above Tropea and is a good starting point for exploring Calabria. The family is very nice and always concerned about the well-being of the tenants. Good value for money, own car required. In summer, it is certainly pleasant, as it is located 400 meters above sea level, making it windy and about 3 degrees cooler than by the sea. We have already been there 3 times and it will certainly not be the last time.

Vacation for two in a small paradise

The Rombolà family welcomed us very warmly on our arrival day. We were given almond milk to refresh ourselves and Salvatore then showed us our accommodation/apartment. We were more than thrilled. Very spacious, well-equipped, and everything was very well-maintained and clean. Additionally, we were in Calabria before the main season, so we had the entire property (huge garden) to ourselves. Caria is truly a very small remote place, you need a car to go shopping, go to the beach, or visit cities (Tropéa). This makes the charm of this vacation rental even more special. The various beaches are a dream and easy to reach by car. Lisa and Salvatore are available to help with various concerns and assist wherever they can. For example, we had a problem with our car (brake pads), and Lisa took us to the workshop. During the time we didn't have a car, we were allowed to borrow her car.

If you want to take a vacation to relax, unwind, and let your soul unwind, away from typical hectic tourist resorts, you're in the right place with the Rombolà family. The entire ambiance, nature, and hospitality contribute to a relaxing stay. A little paradise! We were and still are truly very excited and can recommend this holiday home 100%!!!

Einfach wunderscön

We have been to Caria at Lisa and Salvatore's place 3 times already and it was always beautiful. It feels like visiting friends, so warm and kind. Even our dog was welcome and felt comfortable. It's great to get to know the real Italy far away from mass tourism – that's how we like to spend our holidays. Even in September and October, you can still swim in the sea and have the beaches almost to yourselves. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to Calabria in the last years, but when we retire (in 2 years) we want to stay longer, at least 4 weeks, and of course with Lisa and Salvatore. We are already looking forward to it.
