Location and surroundings of object

The **** holiday apartment Sonnenblume is located close to the forest and quiet, with no through traffic, in Daun-Boverath.
From here, hiking trails and circular routes lead directly into the nearby forest.

The entry points to the Eifelsteig, the Maare-Mosel cycle path, the Kosmos cycle path, and the Dream Paths all begin
right outside the front door.

The nearby district town of Daun can be easily reached on foot and, of course, by car in no time.
All well-known shopping facilities are available. Daun is the district town of the Vulkaneifel district, south of the High Eifel on the Lieser river.
The landscape is characterized by its volcanic nature.

2.5 km to 3.5 km southeast of Daun’s town center are the Daun Maars,
three crater lakes directly adjacent to each other, separated only by their tuff walls.
Swimming pools are integrated into two of these maars.

The natural open-air pool Gemündener Maar, for example. , with its crystal-clear water, invites you to swim, go boating, and also fish.

The event "Classics on the Volcano" takes place at and in this maar every year.

With its approximately 7-hectare water surface, it lies in dense beech forest, very close to Daun, and is thus the smallest maar of the three famous Eifel Eyes.

The clear water allows a deep view, but it does not reach all the way to the bottom at 38 m.

It can be reached either on foot, as a hike, or by car (5 min). An unforgettable and unique experience is swimming in the waters of the crater lakes.

The Weinfelder Maar is considered a “symbol of Eifel melancholy.” Gentle slopes, where in early summer the Eifel gold – as broom is called by locals – shines, surround the usually turquoise shimmering water.

The town of Daun is home to the Eifel Volcano Museum as well as an indoor swimming pool, a cinema palace, and a spa park with an herb garden and a duck pond that exudes peace and relaxation. Sports enthusiasts will find here the Maare-Mosel Cycle Path, the Kosmos Cycle Path, the Eifelsteig, the Dream Trails, and much more.

The annual cycling marathon (always in September) is a special event, as is the crime festival and many other highlights.

The town of Daun is a spa resort and has iron-rich mineral springs. This water is often used for making coffee and is highly valued by passionate tea drinkers.

The area was already settled in the 7th century B.C. Chr. settled for the first time. At that time, the Celts had settled on the fortified basalt mountain in Daun. The Romans also used this prominent hill in the Lieser valley as a watch station, as can be deduced from Roman finds. The place name is likely derived from the Celtic-Roman word "Dunum" for fence or for a fortified elevation, that is, a fortress.

Daun was first mentioned as a town in 1337. In the year 1346, the town rights were granted along with its own market rights, and Daun simultaneously became the location of a high court.

Vacation in the Volcanic Eifel

Dear Family Philipp,
we had a wonderful time in the beautiful Vulkaneifel.
The apartment is wonderfully quiet and completely equipped.
The cold sparkling wine and the wonderfully warm sauna made our New Year's Eve
perfect.

We felt completely at home in the Sonnenblume holiday apartment! The accommodation was very clean, tastefully furnished, and equipped with everything you need—from the fully equipped kitchen to the very comfortable bed. Great terrace with a nice view. The hosts were super friendly and helpful, always quickly reachable with questions. The location is quiet but still central—a perfect starting point for excursions. We would love to return!

Beautiful location for excursions

Well-equipped apartment, the bed very suitable for relaxation, the mattress top. The accommodation is unfortunately a bit further away from Daun by bike or car, but no problem, absolutely quiet location. The garden with terrace is great, additionally a small terrace with grill or for breakfast. It would be desirable to include the price of the final cleaning in the description.

recommend for: seniors, holiday with children, cultural and sightseeing holiday

Answer from Family A. Philipp:

vielen Dank für Ihre nette Bewertung. Dass die FeWo Sonnenblume etwa nur 2 km vom Zentrum entfernt ist, hat sicherlich auch seine Vorteile. Dafür schenken wir Ihnen Ruhe und Erholung, weil kein Duchgangsverkehr.
Danke für Ihren Tip, die Endreinigung in der Beschreibung anzugeben.
Wir wünschen Ihnen alles Gute und begrüßen Sie sehr gerne erneut als unsere Gäste.
