Description

Our holiday home Marie (****DTV) was completed in 2014. You can expect a tastefully furnished holiday home that reflects the charm of northern Germany.
In our house you should of course not do without comfort on approx. 115 sqm of living space. Enjoy some time out in the house's own log sauna or in the solarium

Location and surroundings of object

The Marie holiday home is located directly on Lake Geest, and is thus in the middle of one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region. The windsurfing club and the sailing club regularly organise regattas here. Of course, courses for beginners and advanced can also be attended.

The marina with 190 berths offers the opportunity to set sail with your own or rented boat. An 850 m long bathing beach with a sunbathing lawn and adjacent playground invites you to laze around, sunbathe and play.

The cycling and hiking trails around the approx. 180 ha lake offer opportunities for more or less extensive tours.

The municipality of Geeste is situated directly on the largest man-made lake in Europe with an area of approx. 230 ha and a sandy beach approx. 1 km long.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and love nature, Geeste is the place for you. Between water, forest and meadows, you can let your soul dangle undisturbed.

The typical Emsland landscape with the Ems and extensive high moorland areas shows its original charm in the municipality.

Geeste is home to the Geester See lake and the Emsland Moor Museum in Groß-Hesepe, two of the main tourist attractions in Emsland. In the Emsland Moor Museum, the settlement of the moor and the daily life of the pioneers can be traced.

The Geester See, a popular destination in the region, offers a particularly varied range of leisure activities. Whether beach volleyball, inline skating, swimming, diving or sailing - there are no limits to sporting activities.

The unified municipality of Geeste, with a population of around 1,000, consists of the formerly independent municipalities of Dalum, Groß Hesepe, Klein Hesepe, Geeste, Osterbrock, Bramhar, Varloh and Bienerfeld-Nord. The basic centre is the district of Dalum, which has a population of around 1,000 and is the seat of the administration, lower secondary school (pupils from class 5) and good shopping facilities (Aldi, Lidl, etc.).
The municipality of Geeste is centrally located in the middle Ems region. It borders the town of Meppen (Rühle and Schwefingen) to the north, the town of Haselünne to the east and the town of Lingen (Ems), the municipality of Lengerich and the municipality of Wietmarschen to the south. Our neighbour to the west is the municipality of Twist. The area of the municipality is 133 square kilometres.

In recent years, the municipality of Geeste has become increasingly active in the tourism sector. With the construction of the Emsland Moormuseum Groß Hesepe in the early 1980s and the creation of the 180-hectare Geester See in the mid-1980s and the adjacent 50-hectare wetland biotope with good gastronomy and a wide range of leisure activities (surfing, sailing, diving, bathing, etc.), this area has gained in importance.

Perfect!

Very well-equipped house, comfortable, good beds, top bathrooms, shed for bicycles, quiet surroundings, lake and café/restaurant within walking distance, good starting base for bike tours and walks/hikes. Nice, accommodating landlord contact! We would love to come back!

Super accommodation

The house is definitely recommended. We had a relaxing weekend. All amenities were available at a high level. The sauna is nice and large, and you can sit in front of the stove to continue relaxing. Large spacious bedrooms. Even in bad weather, like we had, the house makes everything pleasant. Thank you, and we would love to come back.

Fantastic!!!!

Three women with a dog can only highly recommend this house! The description was 150% accurate... everything is really there! Best kitchen equipment, great sauna with outdoor area and a nice fenced garden, very nice bedrooms, and just a few minutes to the lake, which we walked around every day. Recommended dining right by the lake with a Mediterranean feel... we had full sunshine under a bright blue sky. There is truly nothing to complain about, so we will definitely come back!!

Beautiful holiday home

We spent a week in this holiday home at the end of August 24 and can only agree with the positive comments of our predecessors. The holiday home is well equipped, clean, and cozy. The personal contact with Mr. Deters was very nice. The area is excellent for cycling, but also for walking through the moor. The reservoir also provides a beach feeling. Our dog also felt very comfortable here. We will definitely come back.

Excellent!

Thank you for the great time in your holiday home, which we enjoyed very much with our dog Ludwig. The equipment was very extensive/current, the sauna and the very well-maintained garden were used extensively. A house to feel comfortable

From the very first moment, we felt very comfortable in the House Marie. Lovingly furnished holiday home with high-quality electrical appliances that leaves nothing to be desired. Of our 13 vacation days, we were out cycling almost every day. We could start all our bike trips right from the front door. From Geeste, there is a very well-described cycling network, for example, a junction system like in the Netherlands or wonderfully signposted pre-planned bike tours. After our tours, we were able to relax either in the beautiful garden on the terrace or in the sauna. We also liked the secluded area after the sauna sessions. A holiday home where you simply feel comfortable, regardless of whether the weather is good or bad. There is still much to discover. We will definitely come back again. Mr. Deters also advised us very well. As a nearby highlight for good food, the inn "Gasthof zur Krone" is recommended.

Great house with top equipment, perfect for relaxing.

There really is nothing missing here, everything as stated and shown in the pictures. A minor technical problem was quickly resolved. Even the firewood for the fireplace was delivered - you couldn't ask for more service. Since the garden is fenced, our dog could play safely there while we enjoyed the terrace. The sauna provided relaxation after long bike rides.

Superfijn huis

Stayed in this lovely house with a nice garden and good fence for a long weekend, ideal for dogs! Unfortunately, we had bad weather so couldn't enjoy the garden, but we did enjoy the house with a delightful wood stove! Have already booked again for the summer so hopefully we can also enjoy the garden then. The house is cozy, well-equipped, with comfortable beds, so we could sleep wonderfully. The surroundings are very nice for long walks, with lots of forest around, charming towns, and great for cycling when the weather is nice.

Super Ferienhaus

We didn't miss anything. The sauna was big enough for the four of us. We didn't use the solarium, but we enjoyed the fireplace. There is sufficient technology available with a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher. The proximity to the storage lake is wonderful, even though the weather didn't cooperate, we went for a quick swim several times. The zoo in Nordhorn is recommended, and while you're there, you can have a good and inexpensive lunch at the Chinese restaurant "Mongolei". The Emsflower garden center is also worth seeing. And if you have children, you should plan a day at the adventure park Schloß Dankern. The outlet center in Ochtrup is suitable for shopping-crazy teenagers. We also went fishing, but the options are limited. The Ems river was flooding, and the lakes in the area are off-limits for fishing. Despite that, there were small and big successes in the Dortmund-Ems Canal. All in all, it was a lovely vacation in a recommendable holiday home. Thanks again for the nice welcome.
