Description
We greet each other at any time of the day with the beautiful little word " Moin", which means "I wish you a nice day". We, the Karl family, hope you enjoy your well-deserved holiday in our beautiful holiday home. Westerbur, with its approx. 300 inhabitants, is a place on the North Sea coast where you can feel at home from the beginning to the end of your holiday. There are two very beautiful monuments in the village. One is the church, built in 1753, with a Bentheim baptismal font dating from around 1250 and a painted organ loft in front of the altar. The Westerbur windmill (Westerbur's landmark), a single-storey gallery windmill, was built around 1870. The Westerbur local history society and the Westerbur fire brigade organise bossel games and barbecue evenings for guests and locals during the holiday season. A playground and football field is about 80 metres from our house. A small kiosk, where you can buy fresh bread or rolls every day, is located in the village. The beach and the seawater swimming pool of Dornumersiel are 2.5 km away. Shopping facilities, spa treatments and the spa doctor Dr. Wilters, as well as several very good restaurants are located in Dornumersiel. You can also reach all this by bicycle on the well-maintained cycle and hiking path. Other popular excursion destinations are certainly the seal breeding station and the Whaloseum in Norddeich, the twin mills in Greetsiel, the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, or the towns of Esens, Wittmnd, Wilhelmshaven, Aurich, Norden, Emden, or Wiesmoor with its flower halls.

Dr. Wilters: 2km Westerbur is a district of the municipality of Dornum in East Frisia. In 2008, the district had 292 inhabitants.
Westerbur lies about one and a half kilometres south of the North Sea coast. The main town of the municipality, Dornum, is about three kilometres away in a west-south-westerly direction. The neighbouring village of Dornumersiel is two kilometres to the northwest. The village was founded as a warf village surrounded by limestone marsh.
The village was possibly first mentioned in documents in the century as Westerbure. In 1530 it was called Westerbuhr. The present spelling has been in use since 1589. The place name is a compound of the cardinal point West- with -Bur, which means Bauerschaft.
On 1 July 1972, Westerbur was incorporated into the municipality of Dornumersiel. On 1 November 2001 it became part of the municipality of Dornum.

Very family-friendly and good location
The apartment is very clean and well-equipped for a family with two children. The landlords are very nice and love children. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back again.

Wunderschön
