Welcome to this imposing retreat in Ariège! With a private pool and six bedrooms, this unique getaway in the south of France accommodates a total of 12 people. The property including the pool is available for your exclusive use. A ping pong table and a foosball table provide entertainment.
In the garden of the historic estate, there is a 10x4m heated pool with stair access and an electric pool cover. The castle includes its own valley to the south of the palace with a masoned grotto and spring, as well as the old Cathar ruin from the 12th century on the mountain ridge above the residence. A part of the castle was rebuilt in 1784 and has been tastefully renovated over the last 30 years, preserving the majestic charm of the building.
The castle's representative ground floor offers a chivalrous atmosphere under high Romanesque arches and behind thick natural stone walls. All floors are made of handmade terracotta from the region. Two of the three romantic bedrooms are equipped with four-poster beds. Two bedrooms are located in the mezzanine, one of which can be accessed via a staircase in the living room, the other via an external staircase. There are two bathrooms (the larger one made of red marble from the region), each equipped with either a shower or a bathtub. A washing machine is also available. In the newly installed, very spacious and fully equipped kitchen there is a large dining table. The imposing living room has leather sofas and a huge fireplace.
On the terrace, there is a gas grill and a ping pong table ready for use. Four bicycles are waiting for you to explore the surroundings on them.
On the upper floor, the 180 square meters under the roof have been transformed into a separate holiday apartment. In addition to three cozy bedrooms with double beds, a bathroom with a bathtub, shower, and washing machine was installed. The living room is friendly and bright. The open kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, and refrigerator. The floor in the charming apartment is made of handmade South French terracotta. Thanks to the cast iron stove, it is also nice and warm in the winter.

The Cathar located on the idyllic edge of the Pyrenees, on a small hill above the quiet village of Castelnau-Durban between Foix and St. Girons. Here in the department of Ariege, Midi-Pyrénées region, you can reside in a historic property and experience a very original and nature-loving France off the beaten track. The 18-hole golf course Ariège is just 10 minutes away by car. In the house waiting 4 bicycles that you can explore the area on you. Hiking, climbing, canyoning and rafting are other activities in which you can get to know the enchanting original Ariège.
The castle is situated in a quiet location on a hill overlooking the peaceful town Castelnau-Durban. By car you can reach the center in less than 2 minutes to walk it is just a short walk.
Castelnau-Durban is located in the department of Ariege, which is part of the Midi-Pyrénées region. Find picturesque towns and mountain villages, strongholds of the Cathars, Romanesque churches, stunning scenery and tranquility far away from mass tourism. St. Girons and Foix with its impressive castle are in each about twenty minutes. Fifteen minutes away, you can drive through one of the largest caves in Europe, the Mas d'Azil. It is also worth a day trip to the famous castle town Carcassonne. In the summer months, festivals and medieval markets are held in many villages. Culinary desires are anyway throughout the year their money - usually in the best organic quality. In Château of Castelnau you live like a god in France!

If you cancel your booking, the following charges will apply: - Up to 31 days before the start of the trip: 20% of the rental price - From 30 to 15 days before the start of the trip: 50% of the rental price - From 14 to 8 days before the start of the trip: 80% of the rental price - For later cancellation or non-appearance, the total rental price will be charged.

The castle is rented out year round. Arrival and departure on Saturdays. The departure is by 10am, arrival from 14 clock possible.

Wow!
Wonderful with an incredible amount of space and a beautiful pool. Fantastic landscape, we went hiking a lot and enjoyed the nature. The house has a huge kitchen that is incredibly well equipped. It really leaves nothing to be desired. We would like to come back again and again. The house is perfect for a holiday with several families.

Very nice property
We spent 2 weeks at the property and were completely satisfied. Very good facilities (even sharp knives) with a beautiful pool. Will gladly come again.
