The 14 parcels of the property have a total area of 6 hectares, this includes a private valley south of the castle with brick grotto and source as well as the old Katharerruine from the 12th century on the ridge above the residential building. Part of the castle was rebuilt in 1784 and tastefully renovated in the last 30 years. Here the majestic charm of the building has been preserved.

The representative ground floor offers under high Romanesque arches and behind thick stone walls a chivalrous atmosphere. Overall, can live comfortably here up to six people.
All floors are handmade terracotta from the region. Two of the three romantic rooms with four-poster beds. Two bedrooms are on the mezzanine floor, one of which is via a staircase in the living room to reach the other by an external staircase. There are two bathrooms (the larger red marble from the region) is provided, each with a shower or bath. A washing machine and a vacuum cleaner robot are available. In the newly built, very spacious and fully equipped kitchen is a large dining table. The impressive living room has leather sofas and a huge fireplace.
You rent the ground floor shown in the pictures, can if necessary also to the upper floor of the property show. The upstairs can accommodate six people. we send photos are available on request, we like to share and the price you are interested with. It is not possible to rent only the first floor. Thus, you can use the 6-hectare plot together with pool, garden and terraces to exclusive use, even if you rent only the ground floor.
Upstairs, the 180 square meters were converted under the roof in the last few years in a separate holiday apartment. Besides three cozy bedrooms with double beds, a bathroom with bath, shower and washing machine was installed. The living room is bright and friendly. The open kitchen is equipped with stove, oven and refrigerator. The floor in the charming flat is handmade terracotta southern France. Thanks to the cast-iron stove, it is nice and warm in winter.

The Cathar located on the idyllic edge of the Pyrenees, on a small hill above the quiet village of Castelnau-Durban between Foix and St. Girons. Here in the department of Ariege, Midi-Pyrénées region, you can reside in a historic property and experience a very original and nature-loving France off the beaten track. The 18-hole golf course Ariège is just 10 minutes away by car. In the house waiting 4 bicycles that you can explore the area on you. Hiking, climbing, canyoning and rafting are other activities in which you can get to know the enchanting original Ariège.
The castle is situated in a quiet location on a hill overlooking the peaceful town Castelnau-Durban. By car you can reach the center in less than 2 minutes to walk it is just a short walk.
Castelnau-Durban is located in the department of Ariege, which is part of the Midi-Pyrénées region. Find picturesque towns and mountain villages, strongholds of the Cathars, Romanesque churches, stunning scenery and tranquility far away from mass tourism. St. Girons and Foix with its impressive castle are in each about twenty minutes. Fifteen minutes away, you can drive through one of the largest caves in Europe, the Mas d'Azil. It is also worth a day trip to the famous castle town Carcassonne. In the summer months, festivals and medieval markets are held in many villages. Culinary desires are anyway throughout the year their money - usually in the best organic quality. In Château of Castelnau you live like a god in France!

Wow!
Wonderful with an incredible amount of space and a beautiful pool. Fantastic landscape, we went hiking a lot and enjoyed the nature. The house has a huge kitchen that is incredibly well equipped. It really leaves nothing to be desired. We would like to come back again and again. The house is perfect for a holiday with several families.

Very nice property
