Description

The long-stretched Casa Formosa with apartment, studio and our house is located in the middle of a large property with old trees. In three heavenly directions, the area descends from there to the tranquil valley. This allows all units maximum privacy, so our guests repeatedly emphasize that the other residents hardly noticed.
Via the access road with electric gate, you can get behind the house, where guests have a car park with a shaded roof. In the middle of the house there is a communal laundry room, next door is the entrance to the studio (see "Studio" apartment), a staircase leads to the 120m² roof terrace with sea view.
On the west side of Casa Formosa is the apartment advertised here. It has to south-west a very private garden of about 1500m² size. Various terraces and plateaus with sea view invite you to linger. In the garden there are fruit, almond and olive trees as well as a play area with football goal, in the old tree dangles a swing. A further highlight are the outdoor kitchen with barbecue and the panoramic terrace with shaded roof and summer shower - all exclusively for the guests of the apartment.
If you are traveling with more than 4 people, studio and apartment can also be rented together. They are separated by two doors, acoustic and optical separation has been taken care of during construction.
Both units are also suitable for a holiday at a cooler time of the year, because all rooms have economic wall heating. There is also a wood-burning stove in the apartment.

Description Apartment:
The apartment is accessed via a large glass door. The round archway leads into the spacious living area, which is divided into the kitchen and living room. The three windows of the living room face south-west and offer a view over the garden to the sea ...
The heart of the living room is the cast-iron stove, which is located on a rustic brickyard. There is a dining table, a sofa and a corner with music, TV and Internet. The adjacent "blue" kitchen is high-quality and well thought-out, so that even complex menus can be cooked without any problem.
To the north are the two bedrooms positioned. The beds can be used as a double or single bed. Both rooms have their own wall-mounted closet and ceiling fan. The walls adorn the works of local artists. The large tastefully tiled bathroom with tub is located between the two bedrooms with access to the hallway.

additional information:

From Olhão there are all-year ferry services to Ilha de Armona and Ilha da Culatra. Here you can enjoy endless beach walks along the Atlantic and visit the restaurants depending on the season. The ferries run probably every day but not very often, so it is recommended to know the departure times before (pdf-ferry plan). The investors are located in the east of the harbor promenade.

In Quelfes, about 1 km north-east of Olhão, a flea market takes place on the 4th and 5th Sunday of the month.

Perfect stay in Algarve

Heidi and Jens were very accomodating, and the accomodation had everything that you could possibly need.
I particularly enjoyed the sea view a lot from the garden. It was close to Olhão but still very quiet and lots of birds around.
Big plus is that there was space to enjoy outside, but no traffic. We had our 5year old son with us and we did not have to worry.
If we go back to Olhão again, this is definately the place to stay!

LATE SUMMER 2024

Impressive accommodation, a lot of nature and tranquility, good food, good balance between nearby big city and remote beaches. What impressed me the most was the openness and friendliness of the Portuguese people. Whether it was a waitress or customers at Pingo Doce.

Schöne Urlaubstage an der Algarve

The holiday in the apartment Casa Formosa was great. We recovered very well. The house was exceptionally clean and well-kept. If you want to cook for yourself, everything is available in the kitchen. We especially enjoyed the garden with its various seating and lounging options and a wonderful view. We were also allowed to help ourselves to the ripe pomegranates hanging on a bush. Very tasty! Heidi and Jens are extremely nice and pleasant hosts, who were always approachable and not intrusive in any way. Since we only drive during vacation, the drive up to the guest parking lot - especially in the dark - was a little challenging.

We would have loved to stay there!

How can one describe a holiday home that one would prefer to rent for half a year oneself? Unfortunately, there is this thing called "work." We had rented the apartment and immediately fell in love with it from the very first moment. . . no, it was actually the second moment, as the arrival in the dark was already a little adventure. The unpaved road and the steep ascent to the house were a tiny challenge. But also immediately the first very pleasant surprise, because we were greeted by the super nice rental couple Heidi and Jens, even late at night with the house brightly lit. So everything is good and everyone can manage the driveway if you know that the accelerator is on the right and should also be used in this case. Many things have already been described in the reviews before, but there is really nothing that doesn't fit. Everything is there and it shines with cleanliness. We slept incredibly well on the mattresses and the silence is truly fantastic. Unfortunately, the time was too short to really use every seating opportunity in this paradise garden. It's like wonderland, with something to discover at every turn and that breathtaking view of nature and not far away, the sea. All thumbs up from us, and one thing is certain. We will be back!

On the top ...

. . . Casa Formosa is remarkable in two ways: Besides the beauty of the harmoniously designed garden, one also enjoys a broad and mostly unobstructed view of the surrounding area, which mentally opens up. The amenities and care provided by Heidi and Jens are perfect. An ideal accommodation if you can enjoy peace and are willing to drive to the Ria, the nearby beaches, the beautiful and diverse small town of Olhao with its shopping options including fresh fish in the markets, fruits and vegetables at the Saturday market, and everything else available in modern supermarkets a short drive away. Without a car, you can explore the surrounding area on numerous walking trails. The evaluation based on the categories mentioned above is therefore difficult and is not very meaningful without the written context. The accommodation is definitely recommended, but not specifically for any of the mentioned groups.

Beautiful !!!

We had rented the apartment for 2 ½ months and immediately felt "at home" upon our arrival. We can wholeheartedly agree with all the very positive reviews and comments. It is simply beautiful in every way! Heidi and Jens are very likable and helpful hosts, and as neighbors, they are extremely pleasant. If the studio is also rented, it is very comfortable for a large family. But even when a foreign guest stays in the studio, you are undisturbed. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Casa Formosa.

Jewel with sea view

A truly recommendable gem in every respect.
The flat is very well laid out, fully furnished - absolutely nothing is missing - and, above all, spotlessly clean (which is not always a matter of course in Portugal)
Three different terraces - two of them with a fantastic sea view - make it pleasantly difficult to decide where to have breakfast every time.
The hosts are both very nice and happy to help if you need information or have any other questions (" Where can we get a delicious portion of fresh ameijoas tonight?")
All in all: If you don't have a dream holiday here, it's your own fault - it's certainly not the fault of the flat or the landlords!

Pure relaxation

The flat of Casa Formosa was recommended to us by a former guest and the very well-maintained, clean property, designed with great attention to detail, corresponded exactly to this description. All around, the view sweeps into the distance. Cosy seating areas make it possible, depending on the weather and the position of the sun, to enjoy the stay at any time of the day in the very well thought-out garden. If you love nature, are looking for peace and quiet and appreciate reliable, friendly contact persons as landlords, you will find here an ideal place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere amidst flowers and old trees.
The location is favourable for a variety of activities in the Ria Formosa, for bird watching, mudflat walks, boat trips, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean or simply strolling and eating delicious food, e.g. in Tavira
The flat is well equipped and clean.
For older people with limited mobility, it might be difficult to get into the bath to take a shower. However, there is a sheltered outdoor shower at ground level.

Golden autumn at the Algarve.

A beautiful, tastefully decorated house with a large well-kept garden that leaves nothing to be desired. It is in the countryside with a view of the sea. The beaches and the Ria Formosa are not far away, and the cafes, markets, and restaurants in the coastal and inland areas can be quickly reached. Heidi and Jens are the perfect hosts - charming and always there when you need them, yet also so discreet that you can feel at home in Casa Formosa as if it were your own house.

Great flat with beautiful large garden

We stayed at Casa Formosa with our two children (four years and 10 months). Heidi and Jens are friendly, reserved hosts and take very good care of their guests. You can always ask, but you don't get to hear much from them, as the flat has its very own area on the property

The flat is very well equipped and above average clean and well maintained, spacious and bright. We especially liked the huge, beautiful and well-kept garden where you can harvest almonds and pomegranates and discover a lot.

The location is good, it is only about ten to fifteen minutes by car to various beaches and to Olhao

We can highly recommend this accommodation!

Holidays to feel good all around

An eventful holiday in the beautiful coastal landscape of the Algarve lies behind us - and the warm hospitality of Heidi and Jens as well as the location and facilities of Casa Formosa contributed to this.

A lot of praise has already been written about the equipment of the holiday home - especially the kitchen - in the reviews. We can confirm all of this!

We love to visit the local markets on holiday and cook, fry or grill with the fresh products. The kitchen offers everything you need for cooking and in a great quality. Heidi and Jens even pay attention to details so that their guests feel comfortable.

What you should definitely do:

- get up shortly before 8am and drive to the market in Olhao in about 15 minutes. Buy fresh fish (for the evening) and oranges (for fresh orange juice to go with the fruit). Ask Heidi where to find the best baker in Olhao.

- take a refreshing shower in the outdoor shower at the sun terrace and then enjoy the view of the sea with tapas and chilled vino verde.

- Watching the starry sky on the roof terrace - perhaps with a cool Sagres or a Super Bock :-) .

- visit the nearby Ria Formosa nature reserve.

The location of the accommodation is such that you can visit all destinations in the Algarve, from the Portuguese/Spanish border to the most south-western point of mainland Europe, by rental car.
