Harz Weekend

It was a great weekend... We were a large group of travelers and had the whole house to ourselves; it's a very cozy rustic cottage, especially with the stove in the kitchen, making it nice and cozy in the evenings. It was really lovely...

Silvester in Neuwerk

We spent several very nice days as a group over New Year's Eve 2019/20 at Kickel's Hus. Everything fit well. The 3 apartments are well equipped and cozy. The kitchen of the lower apartment became our communal space, as we could cook and sit together there. The location itself is a good starting point for hikes and excursions - Rappbode Dam, Rübeland with its caves, Wernigerode. The mobile phone reception is somewhat limited. But there is a landline telephone for that. The landlord is very nice and with the caretaker on site, everything was well organized. The house is highly recommended, and we will gladly come back for a few beautiful days in the Harz.

Sehr gute Lage

Secluded, quiet location, but everything easily accessible. Playground and hiking trails right outside the door. Friendly owner. Demonstration of the tower clock and model railway. BBQ could be used.

Again and again with pleasure

We (4 adults and 2 children) stayed in the middle and lower holiday flat for the second time and it was great again. The furnishings and the surroundings leave nothing to be desired. In the lower flat, the common cooking and dining kitchen was already standard. We often visited the playground and the sauna in the basement.
The landlord is very nice and helpful and let the model railway run for us several times. The children were thrilled.
Of course, the beautiful weather also contributed to a successful short holiday with lovely autumn walks.

Optimal for groups

We were 12 adults and could divide ourselves very well between the different rooms. The cooking was done on the first floor while the group sat around the stove downstairs. The super-comfortable beds and the selection of sauna infusions deserve special mention. All in all, the facilities are very homely

Cozy house, beautiful surroundings, good sauna

We were six people staying at Kickels Hus for two nights and were very satisfied. There is enough space so that everyone could have their own room, the furnishings are cozy and simple. The sauna works very well. The surroundings are beautiful for hiking. The landlord was very uncomplicated, there were no complications.

Nice holiday apartment in a very beautiful location

Beautiful old house that has been lovingly and originally renovated and modernized. Simple, functional furnishings. Very nice support from the landlord. Neuwerk is a very quiet place in a beautiful nature. Good starting point for hikes and activities in the Harz.

Ein Kleinod

The first contact with the landlord was already the beginning of the vacation. The smooth handover and return afterwards could not go wrong.
We felt absolutely comfortable in the lovingly renovated house, cozy (and not, as often found, broken) beds ensured restful sleep in a quiet area.

We will definitely come back.

Geeignet für Großfamilie

We had plenty of space for 11 people on an extended weekend, the self-contained living areas were a great advantage as it was almost constantly raining and we had small children with us. The on-site support is very reliable, the house decorated with a lot of love, the little town itself is worth a visit. So: highly recommended, thank you.

Highly recommended without reservation!

We, as a group of 5 people plus a toddler, spent several beautiful days at the beginning of August in Kickel's house. Everything worked out well, the location is a good starting point for trips (culture, nature), hikes, and jogging. Even if the weather is bad, you can comfortably relax on the porch of the house. There is a playground less than 30 meters away, and plenty to discover for the little ones inside and around the house. We didn't miss anything in terms of equipment and were very pleased that there was even a well-tuned piano and two cozy wood stoves in the house. In case of emergencies, a landline phone is available due to sometimes limited mobile phone reception. A special plus is the nice, really very helpful landlord! we will gladly come back, thank you for the nice days in the Harz!

Weihnachten in Neuwerk

The well-renovated half-timbered house is well equipped with dishes, and the charming wood stove gives the kitchen on the ground floor a special flair. There was no snow, but we still had three beautiful Christmas days with children and grandchildren. Highly recommended also for groups.

Family vacation with nine people at Kickels-Hus in Lüneburg Heath.

Rustic house with a lot of history! It also has the advantages of modern times - particularly noteworthy is the wonderful cooking stove in the ground floor apartment, which we fired with wood in the evenings. The warmth and atmosphere are splendid! The place offers many hiking opportunities to start exploring the Harz Mountains. Perfect for those seeking peace and wanting to escape the tourist crowds. Relaxing in the house's sauna in the evening was very beneficial!

Friendly, quaint, spacious, group-friendly, close to reservoir.

A beautiful old half-timbered house, maintained with charm by a family. You have a nice view of the "church tower" (which belongs to the old school). It is spacious, has new bathrooms, and the kitchens are well equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed the barbecue area (with swivel grill) and veranda (which was still nice and warm on cool summer evenings) with 14 people. We did not use the sauna as it was August. From the accommodation, we took trips to the reservoir (winch sports...) ) and a hike in the beautiful Bodetal to the Roßtrappe. A lovely spot and everything is quickly accessible from the house. Perfect!
The price is unbeatable.
Since the house is located in a sleepy, sweet little valley, the internet works slowly and weakly, as often happens in many other areas in the Harz region, and the mobile phone reception is weak to non-existent (hence only 4 service stars).
The communication with the friendly landlord from Berlin was always pleasant. The caretaker also lives in the village and handled everything smoothly. If you use a mobile navigation system to get to the village, you will be directed over a bumpy field and forest path. It's better to use a proper navigation device! All in all, a recommended house. I would vacation there again.

Just the right accommodation! | Trainee trip in Kickels holiday house in Neuwerk | Harz

With a total of 12 people, we were able to spend 2 days (1 night) in the idyllic Neuwerk in the Harz region at the beginning of August 2015. The duration (and route) of the journey (from Braunschweig) to Kickels Ferienhaus was just right. The house has 3 floors and offered enough rooms for our group. We used the two kitchens for cooking and could eat together in the foyer. We also used this anteroom for our work sessions - however, we were also glad that we had wonderful weather (and a space outside the front door) to hold work sessions outdoors. The so-called anteroom did not offer much space for group work and presenting the results. That's why one star was deducted. If group work is not planned, this is not a negative point. The second point of criticism relates to the equipment of cutlery and dishes. We had to put everything together and improvise a bit, and there were no dishwasher tabs on site, so upgrading is necessary. However, with the very nice and open contact to the landlord, this will certainly have already been done for the next guests.

The location is beautiful and offers great hiking trails in the nearby area, such as the Rübenland. We deducted one star because the village does not offer any shopping facilities on-site, and we had to drive to the "Rübenland" 4km away. There is (almost) no internet connection, so we would not have been able to establish a connection to the "outside world" in case of emergency. However, a landline telephone will be installed in the near future. If complete "isolation" is desired, this is the ideal place to find peace - hence only the deduction of one star overall. The caretaker was nice and explained all the details in the house and surroundings at the beginning. Unfortunately, we couldn't establish a phone connection with him because there is no network, which is a bit annoying when arriving earlier or later. Therefore, we felt somewhat dependent on the agreed time. We also had to bring our own bedding, which was an exception. The lack of details in equipment, service, and location only prompted us to deduct one star in the "overall result." We really enjoyed our stay in the "old-fashioned" cottage - it was exactly what we needed for our project/plan.
