While I don't want to sound critical, our room was quite nice, but we did notice that other rooms featured carpet flooring, whereas ours had wooden floors, Maybe our room was a standard one, and the others were upgraded, but I'm not entirely sure, We arrived in the morning, and with check-in set for 3 pm, we thought wed ask if we could check in a little earlier since we had a toddler with us, We arrived at the hotel around 1:30 pm, but the receptionist, or perhaps a supervisor, was rather firm in her response, I appreciate the hotels policies and was made aware of the check-in time, but I did expect a bit more warmth in their reply given our situation, On a positive note, the location is fantasticright in the heart of the city and just a short walk from the train station, The breakfast staff were also very courteous and eager to assist, which we really appreciated,

The breakfast was not quite to my taste. The selection was somewhat limited, and I missed scrambled eggs, which simply belong to a good breakfast for me. The rolls were baked and sometimes a bit dry, which I found unfortunate. Fresh rolls would have been ideal. The coffee machine was also a bit impractical, as one had to wait a little to get their coffee. The staff could perhaps have been a bit more attentive to reset the tables more quickly. Next time, I would prefer to try the bakery on the ground floor. However, the location of the hotel was fantastic! We were in the middle of the action and were able to visit the Christmas market, which was great. After a few mulled wines, it was just wonderful to fall straight into bed. The lady at the reception was really friendly and helpful.

The bathtub was really nice, but it could be a bit difficult for people with limited mobility. The room was in good condition, although its age is noticeable. A power outlet near the bed would have been practical. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, and I thought it was great that a kettle was available. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, plentiful, and offered a good selection. The location was excellent, as the subway was just a few steps away. The train station and the Westfalenhalle were also quickly reachable. Overall, I would definitely come back.

The hotel does not have its own parking garage, but you can conveniently park in the nearby parking garage in Freistuhl, which must be paid for by yourself. Upon arrival on holidays or outside regular opening hours, the hotel can open the parking garage for you if you call in advance. The location is perfect, right in the center, and since the rooms are on the upper floors, it is pleasantly quiet. Our room was very spacious, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We spent the time over Christmas there, and it was simply ideal.

The hotel is easy to overlook, as it is located in a commercial building on Kampstraße on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. The most noticeable sign is the 'Mercure' sign, which is mounted high up. The entrance door to the elevators is rather inconspicuous, and only a small sticker on one of the doorbell buttons indicates that you are in the right place. However, the location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the main train station, and the subway station is just around the corner. The lobby on the 3rd floor is inviting, and the room as well as the bathroom are nicely designed. The price is reasonable, especially since a tasty breakfast is included in the price.
