Description
Discover the lovingly restored bakehouse in Burscheid Berkoth, ideal for a relaxing holiday in the midst of nature.
This cozy and well-equipped little house offers about 80 square meters on 2 floors, accommodating up to 6 guests:
On the ground floor there is a living room with terrace window, a wood-burning stove with 2 armchairs, 2 (sofa) beds, as well as glass doors with views of the gardens to the east and west sides.
Here you will also find the kitchen and the bathroom. In the open-designed attic with historic oak beams, there is a beam double bed as well as, opposite, a sofa corner (convertible into a second double bed) with TV and DVD. The attic has a wonderful atmosphere and offers plenty of space to use, for example, for yoga and meditation, massages, music . . .
please note the historic staircase leading up –
it is somewhat steep, but has a handrail. In the living room, there are comfortable seating and lounging options around the wood-burning stove, which provides warmth during the cooler seasons.
Various lamps, a high-quality Bluetooth music box, as well as games and a small selection of books invite you to linger—especially on long autumn and winter evenings . . . and of course there is also central heating ;-)
The kitchen is equipped with a stove with oven, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, and coffee machine, and the kitchen units are well stocked with dishes, cutlery, and many kitchen utensils . .
The antique wooden table in the dining area by the window with a view of the valley is extendable and can comfortably seat up to 6 people. The bathroom has, in addition to a toilet and a separate shower, a bidet as well as various storage options in shelves and 2 mirrored cabinets.
The bakehouse has its own garden with a terrace – especially in the morning a magical place for breakfast in the sun... as well as a shady spot on hot summer afternoons. It is equipped with a seating set with glass table, a fire bowl, and 2 sun loungers.
Your car can be parked directly at the bakehouse. It is extremely quiet here and at night, when the sky is clear, you can see a fantastic starry sky – Milky Way and shooting stars included (the only street lamp in the village goes out at 11 p.m.).
Children are welcome here: There is a lot to discover outside and extensive free and play areas –
however, if you wish to come with children, we ask that you contact us in advance to make arrangements together.
Smoking is not permitted in the bakehouse. If you have any further questions, please contact us -
we will respond promptly!

Location and surroundings of object
The bakehouse is part of the listed Zahrenhof from the 18th century, which also includes a Marian chapel with its own chapel garden as well as three oaks over 300 years old.
The estate and the neighboring farm with organic Highland cattle are idyllically and secludedly situated on an elongated hill (480 m elevation) with pastures, meadows, and many viewpoints and hiking trails – in the midst of the hilly, expansive landscape of the Southern Eifel. A hiking board with designated hiking trails is located directly at the property!
There is also a bus stop for the RufBus (to Neuerburg) directly at the property.
The nearest village, Berkoth, is about 3 km away, and shopping and entertainment options can be found in Waxweiler or Neuerburg (each about 10 km away); the nearest small towns are Bitburg and Prüm (about 25 and 30 km away).
Other popular excursion destinations include, among others, the Devil’s Gorge as well as the Wolf’s Gorge, the castles of Vianden in Luxembourg (approx. 30 km away) or Trier.
Arrival by car is recommended,
by train the station Bitburg Erdorf on the Cologne line is the (nearest) –
we can only offer a pick-up service in exceptional cases.

A true oasis
I was allowed to take a vacation in the Backhaus at the beginning of last year and immediately fell in love with the house, the yard, and the area. Coming back again in the summer was the best idea in a long time. Christine and Tom have made the enchanting Backhaus even more beautiful, with many cozy corners and a great bed. The house has everything you need, but the most impressive is still the estate around it. There are small hidden oases and cozy spots to discover everywhere. A great place to start hikes or simply enjoy nature on site. I will definitely come back.
recommend for: adventure and experience, holiday with children, holiday for singles, romantic holiday
Answer from Mrs. C. Bättig:
Vielen Dank, liebe Juli, auf ein baldiges Wiedersehen in Burscheid !

For us, a holiday oasis
Perfect for relaxing with family or friends for hiking, playing, cooking, and more ... nestled in a beautiful environment.
For me, it's an inspired, magical place.
The holiday home is very beautifully constructed and artistically designed. I really like the implementation of exposing the old bakehouse structures with modern elements/furnishings. In addition, there is a self-created chapel on the premises, which has a great origin story and is embedded in the Eifel Chapel Hiking Trail.
Answer from Mrs. C. Bättig:
Vielen Dank, Markus.
Wir freuen uns, wenn Du uns bald einmal wieder besuchst.
Das Backhaus hat einen neuen Kaminofen und es gibt ein paar weitere Verbesserungen. Gruß Tom
