Welcome to La Chaumière Krier
Our thatched house stands on the outskirts of Pont-Croix on a hill, in Cap Sizun. White facade, blue shutters, hydrangeas in front of the house, all around a large garden, old trees, fields. The sea is three kilometers away. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the right place. The house is comfortably furnished and is suitable for families, couples, and small groups of up to six people.
Inside, Breton antiques and wood characterize the rooms. Four rooms are spread over 112 m² on two floors. Three bedrooms offer space for up to six guests, including a double bed (180 × 200) with a dressing room. There is also a bathtub and two separate WCs. A washing machine is available in the basement.
Living and cooking:
The living-dining area has an open fireplace, two sofas, and a long table for the whole group. The open kitchen is well equipped: dishwasher, oven, induction stove, refrigerator, filter coffee machine, and Nespresso capsule machine. In the morning, croissants from the village; in the evening, cook for yourself or go out for a nice meal – it happens naturally here.
The garden:
Around 10,000 m² with old trees and a small stream. Three terraces for sun or shade, plus a gas grill and hammocks. Plenty of space to relax while the children play outside – and quiet enough for evenings by the fireplace.
For families:
A baby bed, high chair, toilet seat, and changing mat are available, as well as a swing, basketball hoop, sand toys, bodyboards, handcart, a child carrier for hikes, and boules and cricket games.
Out and about:
Two bicycles and an e-bike are available subject to availability (no guarantee that they are always operational). Your surfing and beach equipment can be stored in the garage.
We rent privately and are happy to let you use our house for a few days on the Breton coast.

The best location to explore Brittany
The house is situated on a hill at the edge of Pont-Croix in the Finistère department, right in the middle of Cap Sizun. In 2025, Pont-Croix was named the second most beautiful village in the world by the UN Tourism Organization – a medieval place with cobbled alleys, a collegiate church from the 13th century, and a marketplace where an organic market is held regularly. The sea is three kilometers away: to the south, long sandy beaches; to the north, a rugged cliff coast with small bays.
Pont-Croix covers daily needs well: two bakeries, a supermarket (about one kilometer away), a fish shop, a pharmacy, and several restaurants – such as Chez Le Du (Fusion), La Table de Lou, and GLAZ. Weekly markets are held in Pont-Croix and nearby Audierne. Beaches:
The best swimming is at the beach of Trescadec near Audierne – the most family-friendly in the region, with little current, plenty of space, an ice cream shop, and restaurants within walking distance. For surfing and the wild Atlantic scenery, the Baie des Trépassés and the Pointe de la Torche are suitable, a kilometer-long beach with several surf schools. The nearest beach, Pors Péron, can be reached in a few minutes and is good for a quiet walk along the coastal paths. Audierne:
About ten minutes away lies the fishing town of Audierne: harbor, weekly market, aquarium, canoe rental, beach, playground, and cinema. In summer there is a large street food selection.
Le Goyen:
The coastal river Le Goyen flows into the Atlantic at Audierne and changes with the tides. Along the river you can walk and cycle well, and in summer also go canoeing. Excursions:
In the surrounding area are the viewpoints Pointe du Raz and Pointe du Van, the Moulin de Keriolet mill, and the Phare du Millier lighthouse. Further away, Locronan (one of the most beautiful villages in France), Quimper with its cathedral and market hall, as well as a boat trip to the Glénan Islands from Bénodet, where dolphins can sometimes be seen, are worthwhile. Pont-Aven, known for Paul Gauguin, is also worth a visit. In bad weather, Océanopolis in Brest and the Aquashow in Audierne are good options.
Regional products:
From the region come the cider from Cidrerie Kerné, caramel made from salted butter and pastries from Biscuiterie de la Pointe du Raz, as well as the striped shirts from Armor Lux. At the weekly markets in Pont-Croix and Audierne, there are fresh, local products. Surfing:
The surf spots of the region, especially the Baie des Trépassés, are quickly reached and are suitable for beginners as well as advanced surfers. The equipment can be stored in the garage.

A small gem in Brittany
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this small, lovingly designed, and well-equipped house along with its wonderful garden. The hosts are always reachable, and there are everyday necessities and beautiful excursion destinations nearby – we will gladly come back soon!

Dream House
The house is breathtaking! It is decorated with so much taste and love and is equipped with everything a (family) heart desires: baby and toddler equipment, a toy box for indoor and outdoor play, a swing, and various sitting areas. Terraces in the garden, a fireplace with accessories for cozy evenings, a generously equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, oven, and induction cooktop, an inviting dining table in the living area, comfortable mattresses and (various) pillows, towels, various beach items, bicycles, washing machine and drying rack, and much more.
In addition, there is the perfect location that invites you to explore the small and larger towns, coasts, and beaches in all directions! The supermarket is a 3-minute drive away, the family-friendly beach in Audierne with a beautiful playground nearby can be reached in 12 minutes by car, and the marketplace with restaurants and bars in Pont-Croix is a 20-minute walk away.
We are thrilled and can only recommend La Chaumière and Brittany! Many thanks to the host!

Cozy vacation home in the countryside
We were there with a group and felt very comfortable. Contributing to that was the cozy fire in the fireplace in the evening, the stylishly furnished rooms, the view of the greenery, and the well-maintained living atmosphere. Excursion destinations are easily accessible on foot and by car, as well as delicious local restaurants.

A Breton Dream
La Chaumière Krier is simply dreamy! We spent wonderful holidays there and felt comfortable from the very beginning. The house is exactly as described – beautifully and lovingly furnished in the French style, with romantic details, a huge fireplace, and a very large, cozy living room. Everything was spotless and well-equipped, nothing was missing – everything was there for the children as well. The property is huge and idyllically enchanted, with a swing, a barbecue area, and even a small babbling brook – simply perfect for relaxing. We were especially excited that there are e-bikes, which allowed us to take great trips to the Atlantic. Additionally, beautiful beaches and picturesque hiking trails for small and large walks are super quick to reach. The surroundings are simply fantastic: in Quimper, you can go shopping wonderfully, Audierne has great restaurants and cute, small art galleries, and the many small "Petites Cités de Caractère" in the area have a very special charm and are incredibly worth seeing! In the lovingly created guest folder, we found many great insider tips that made our stay even more enjoyable. Not least, the communication with the host was simply top-notch – super warm, reliable, and friendly. Overall, a coherent price-performance ratio and an absolute recommendation - we would love to come back!
