Domburg is a charming coastal town in the Netherlands with beautiful beaches.
Domburg is Zeeland's oldest seaside resort. A combination of magnificent nature with lovely beach and an impressive small town right behind the dunes. Since the mid-19th century, Domburg has been a seaside resort, although the first tourists came there as early as the 17th century. The clean sea air combined with extensive forest and dune areas have a high appeal. This inspired many famous painters at the beginning of the 20th century, such as Jan Toorop or Piet Mondriaan.
Domburg has not lost its appeal to this day. Thousands of tourists come to Domburg annually to spend their vacation or even just for a short weekend trip. Domburg is popular because it offers so much variety. For example, after a beautiful day at the beach, you can dine in one of the many cafes and restaurants (e.g., Restaurant B.). ) comfortably enjoy his cappuccino on the terrace. If the weather is not so good, there is the option to spend the day at the leisure pool De Parel (Roompot BV), where you can also indulge in the wellness area, with massages, facial treatments, etc. For those who like to shop, Domburg also has a lot to offer, there are various boutiques in every price range. Those who value luxury, for example, can find what they are looking for. At the Nobelaer, you are well taken care of; there, you can find clothing from Gucci, Prada, Armani, etc. Once a week (Mondays from May to September), a large tourist market takes place on the main street, where you can get everything (baked goods, fruit, fish, clothing, jewelry, etc.); no wishes remain unfulfilled. Furthermore, the village has a golf course in the middle of the dunes and a mini-golf course. Even in winter (especially during Christmas and New Year's Eve, when the village is festively decorated) a visit to Domburg is recommended. Wrapped up warmly, one can thoroughly enjoy the fresh air and the view of the sea. On New Year's Eve, people toast to the new year on the dunes, from where there is a beautiful view over the Walcheren Island, illuminated by the beautiful fireworks. For those who enjoy cycling, there are many beautiful destinations, including the towns of Veere, Vlissingen. or Middelburg are all easily accessible by bike. Walkers will also get their money's worth. The Mondriaan route is highly recommended. It is a cultural-historical route (1.5 hours) with interesting places where, among others, Jan Toorop and Piet Mondriaan had their residence. This route passes by country houses, dunes, old streets, and a beach promenade. The beach life in Domburg also has many faces. Windsurfing is allowed here all year round, busy beaches have special surfing corridors. National and international competitions often take place at Noordduin. If you just want to relax, you can rent one of the numerous beach cabins. You can also have a snack or a drink at one of the beach cafes and enjoy the sun comfortably on the terrace.
