Location and surroundings of object

Discover Sam Roi Yot, a breathtaking natural landscape on the Bay of Thailand.
Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park covers an area of around 98 square kilometres and is located on the coast of Prachuap Khiri Khan province directly south of Hua Hin. It is Thailand's first marine national park.

Khao Sam Roi Yot means "the mountain with three hundred peaks" and refers to a series of limestone hills along the Gulf of Thailand, the highest of which is 605 metres above sea level. The northwestern corner of the mountain is called Thung Sam Roi Yot and consists mainly of freshwater marshes that make up almost 37 per cent of the national park, making it the largest wetland in Thailand.

The main attractions of the national park are the Phraya Nakhon Cave with its iconic royal pavilion and huge chamber, the Kaeo Cave and the Thung Sam Roi Yot freshwater marshes. The park is also a very beautiful destination for its abundant wildlife in freshwater swamp and mangrove forests, beautiful beaches, limestone islands, hiking trails and viewpoints. It is easily accessible, only 40 kilometres south of Hua Hin.

The forests on the mountains are home to some mammals such as fishing cats, black leaf monkeys, crab-eating macaques, Malayan porcupines, Indochinese serows and Sunda plant lorises.
Khao Sam Roi Yot is home to a wide variety of bird species, making it another great destination for birdwatchers. Around 355 bird species have been recorded in the park, half of which are migratory birds. It is one of the best places in Thailand to spot waterfowl on the flyway between Asia and Australia in January/February. Spotted Crake, Sharp-tailed Godwit, Swinhoe's Snipe, Steppe Eagle, Marsh Harrier, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Grey Partridge, and Bear Duck are some rare birds that have been reported from the park. Dolphins are occasionally spotted off the coast. Boat trips for anglers and small excursions can be booked on the beach.
Activities
The main attraction of Khao Sam Roi Yot is the impressively large Phraya Nakhon Cave and the Royal Pavilion inside. It is the most famous attraction in the park and the province.
The Khao Daeng viewpoint is a popular place to visit in combination with a visit to Phraya Nakhon Cave. It offers an impressive view over the surrounding area and the sea.
Other activities to add to the day's itinerary include: A boat trip through the mangrove forests, visiting two more caves or relaxing on one of the beaches.
While the black leaf monkeys can be seen every day at Laem Sala Beach, the long-tailed macaques can be found at the Khao Daeng Viewpoint car park or near the headquarters. Most other mammals in the park are very rarely seen, they have forested habitats deep in the park in mountainous areas.
We recommend a day trip to Kui Buri Wildlife Watching to see wild elephants.
We are happy to help you with further suggestions for your holiday planning.
If you fancy a stroll or a shopping trip, head to Hua Hin, a vibrant city by the sea.
Here you will not only be spoilt with culinary delights, but can also buy fashionable clothes, jewellery and typical souvenirs at reasonable prices.
