A downside was the owner's dogs. You could smell them in the bedrooms upstairs and sometimes saw dog droppings in the garden. What was disappointing was the response when we asked if there would be any guests arriving directly after us. If not, could we perhaps leave an hour later than 10 o'clock? That was allowed, but it would then have to cost 25 euros per hour. And this while the house was not yet ready for use when we arrived (after the start time).

A very sweet friendly village where during this period it smells of linden everywhere and everyone still has a chat. Within a short distance of beautiful Hanseatic towns, Middachten Castle, etc. With a dog, you are very welcome here and there are off-leash forests nearby, some with water. In short, definitely one of the most comfortable places we have been to so far.

Beautiful place, but unexpected costs, ambiguities, and a commercial feeling left behind. We had a nice week in a beautiful, quiet location with many good amenities. The stay itself was pleasant. Still, we want to honestly inform future guests about a few important points. On the penultimate day, we asked if our partners could come by on the last evening. The owner reacted enthusiastically and mentioned examples of previous groups that had done this as well. The owner excitedly said that it was good and also talked about a previous group that had invited their partners but had let them sleep in a hotel, while according to her, that had not been necessary at all. No words were said about extra costs, which led us to assume that it was allowed or that any potential costs would be mentioned in advance. On the morning of departure, however, we unexpectedly received a bill of €150 that we had to pay immediately. Since we were not informed in advance, we had no other choice. In hindsight, the owner spoke of miscommunication, but unfortunately, there was no compensation. That didn't feel entirely fair to us, especially on top of the €225 that had already been paid for cleaning and linen. We are now mainly a bit confused. Also because there was no wifi available the entire week, for example. And one of us spent at least an hour on the phone with KPN to resolve this for them. We did it gladly, but it now feels like we should also send them an invoice afterwards. Additionally, a few points that are useful to know: – There are three large dogs on the property that entered our house multiple times. This can be uncomfortable for those who are not used to dogs. - Some photos show facilities (like a ping pong table by a pool) that you cannot actually use. - The wifi did not work at all during the week. It is a beautiful place with a lot of potential, but we recommend making clear agreements in advance about any extra costs. We hope that the owner can do something with this feedback and that a suitable solution can still be found for the unexpected surcharge. I would have preferred not to leave such a review. Feels like a shame. But unfortunately, the owner didn't want to call me anymore when I asked if that could be done. She did call a colleague of mine, but that unfortunately didn't concern the bill. That came to me since I am the organizer.

The "vacation home" contains an office space belonging to the owner. Because the "vacation home" is bordered by glass doors to the owners' residence and is partially integrated into it (Vermeer and Van Gogh room), you may experience noise disturbances (such as nighttime conversations from the owners). You cannot regulate the temperature yourself but must constantly request it from the owners (on day 1 we said that 18 degrees was too low, on day 2 it was still 18 degrees). The heating also turns off at 10:30 PM. Due to the setup of the house (little insulation, single-glazed doors to the outside, for example), it is generally quite cold. Furthermore, we found the items in the kitchen somewhat dirty. We left after 1 night for a house with normal privacy (access to your bedroom via a hallway and a private bathroom) and control over the heating. The owners deny everything, even that the website provides incorrect information about the property.
