As a hub between the Silvretta and Verwall, St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl places great emphasis on sporting recreation
History was already made here in the early 1980s with the construction of the world's largest gondola lift. Today, the Grasjoch cable car connects the Hochjoch and the Silvretta to form one of Austria's largest ski resorts with wide pleasure pistes and sunny carving slopes. Away from the groomed slopes, you can experience "untracked freedom" in the powder snow. On the extensive deep snow slopes, both beginners and pros will find their very own "freeride hotspot": designated routes, plenty of space to draw lines and a backcountry area with little traffic offer powder runs at their best until spring.
Adventurous days await you in St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl in the warmer seasons on wonderful high-altitude hikes or while exploring the traditional Montafon maize patches. There, with a little luck, you will also discover the rare Montafon stone sheep, which have been bred here again for several years as part of the natural and cultural heritage of the valley.
