Children's playgrounds are in the immediate vicinity.
Biking and hiking trails are right outside the front door.
You can reach the village square of Haus im Wald on foot in 400 metres, where you will find an inn with its own butcher's shop. In the village there is an Edeka grocery shop, bakery (offers bread delivery service!!), post office, bank, a hairdresser's salon and a liquor shop especially for whisky (Whiskyworld).
The climatic health resort of Grafenau (8km) offers plenty of adventure for young and old, as well as places to stop for a bite to eat and a stroll. From the spa adventure park with wave pool to one of the longest summer toboggan runs and an ice rink (also open in summer) to the animal enclosure and tree-top walk.
The proximity of Passau (35km) invites you to a trip to the old town or a boat trip to Vienna. You can explore our neighbouring country, the Czech Republic (border approx. 35 km) and visit the town of Český Krumlov, which is also poetically called the gateway to the Bohemian Forest.
Ski centre Mittendorf, Brotjacklriegel or Arber are approx. 30km away, cross-country skiing trails and ski lifts can be found in the immediate vicinity.
Many natural bathing lakes within a radius of 8-20km (Dreiburgensee, Ebenreuther See, Eginger See, Hohenauer Badeweiher), the Ilz (river) approx. 800m away for the dogs to bathe, open-air swimming pools (Perlesreut, Grafenau, Waldkirchen and others)

Short vacation with dog
Almost can't be better. A lovingly furnished cottage where you don't miss anything. Even a dog bed, food bowl, and dog towel were available. A very warm welcome with many tips for nearby excursions. The only thing that might bother some people is the proximity to the road, but it wasn't a problem for us. For dog owners, it is certainly important to note that the garden is not fenced, so the dog should be able to be restricted or kept on a leash. We will definitely come back.

Very very beautiful
Now we were already the second time in the holiday home Wickie. Again it was beautiful and almost like "coming home". Michaela and Thomas are simply the perfect landlords. There are valuable tips for activities and restaurants, they are always there when you need them. Even my birthday was pleasantly enhanced with cake (so delicious). The little house is lovingly furnished, you can help yourself to the herb garden and everything you need is there. It was certainly not our last visit there, because the scenery, accommodation and Michaela and Thomas have become very dear to us.

Very clean
We had a great time here with our dog. The house is super clean and well maintained. It is equipped with everything you need; we didn't miss anything. There are also plenty of storage options and a large wardrobe. The bathroom, bedroom, and living room are spacious enough, the kitchen is a bit small but sufficient. Nice terrace with good garden furniture, plus a decent grill is available. The location is good, you can reach the bakery, Edeka, and the butcher Bauer (highly recommended) in just a few minutes' walk. There are also many dining options nearby, such as Jägerstöckl, Schmugglerhof, Kleblmühle, and Haus Fernblick, although you may need to drive there or incorporate them into your hiking tour... But they all cook well and the prices are also absolutely fine. Thank you for the wonderful vacation!

Family vacation for everyone
Our vacation at Ferienhaus Wickie had something to offer for everyone:
In addition to relaxed walks through the village and the Bavarian Forest, the surrounding area also offers great leisure activities for kids and adults (city tours, nature park, outdoor pools, sledging tracks, etc.).
After each outing, returning to Ferienhaus Wickie felt like coming home.
Cozy, practical, and very clean and tastefully furnished, we felt very comfortable there.
At this point, I would like to highlight the warm welcome and the great excursion tips from Mrs. Berndt.

Wir haben ein sehr gemütliches, rustikal eingerichtetes Ferienhaus angetroffen. Unsere 3 Beardies haben sich sehr wohlgefühlt ... wir natürlich auch und es war alles vorhanden was man im Urlaub braucht. Dieses Haus ist sehr zu empfehlen. Den Vermietern Thomas und Michaela auch herzlichen Dank für den toll geführten Abendspaziergang im Wald und an der Ilz.

Anytime again
Very idyllic location with great views, exceptionally clean and furnished with love. Everything you need is available. Ideal for holidays with a dog. The hosts take this very seriously. Sympathetic, helpful without being pushy.
Beautiful hiking trails right outside the front door, Passau (worth seeing!) is about 45 minutes away.

A dream!!!!
I have been to many holiday homes and campsites with my dog Jacky. But this house is number 1 for me.
Beautiful holiday home with everything you could imagine. There is absolutely everything you need. The best thing is the beautiful pellet stove, which makes the house warm in no time, even in the current sub-zero temperatures.
It's a dream for my dog, lots of hiking trails, along the Ilz river, it really doesn't get any better!!!
And now to the landlords Michaela and Thomas:
Rarely have I met such nice people.
If you have any questions about hiking trails or restaurants, or anything else, they are always on the spot.
As there are still a few days unoccupied, I am currently considering whether to extend my stay.
This accommodation can really only be recommended!!!!!

Ein wunderschönes Blockhaus mit Flair
Wir haben Weihnachten/Silvester im Ferienhaus Wickie verbracht.
Das Blockhaus war wunderschön und für uns mit Hund perfekt.
Ausstattung, Sauberkeit und Buchung 1a! Hier könnten sich andere Vermieter eine Scheibe abschneiden.
Wir wurden von Michaela und Thomas sehr herzlich empfangen. Man vermisst nichts und fühlt sich schon beim Betreten des Hauses wohl. Es wurde mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und ausgestattet. Im bequemen Haushundebett lag ein Leckerlie und Spielzeug; für unseren Buddy natürlich perfekt.
Die Vermieter sind zurückhaltend und trotzdem immer erreichbar, hilfsbereit und haben tolle Ausflugstipps.
Wir haben lecker gekocht und tolle Spaziergänge und Wanderungen mit Buddy unternommen.
10 Tage Ruhe, Erholung, zauberhafte Momente, Gemütlichkeit…entschleunigt!!!

The fulfilment of our idea of a relaxing holiday.

The contact from the beginning of the booking to the arrival very sympathetic. Such a warm and cordial welcome from the couple. This holiday home is furnished with much love, tastefully and comfortably. The area is a dream for trips by motorbike. We had 2 dogs with us, which also felt very comfortable. Long walks through the woods and meadows are wonderful. The bread service also works very well. The Berndt family always has an idea in store if you need a tip. Uncomplicated and always on hand. Superb holiday home in a quiet location
We have just spent 2 weeks (with child and dog, 2 adults) in the holiday home Wickie: the house has been beautifully prepared with a lot of love and nothing is missing! The house is extremely clean and well equipped and the Berndt family provides a warm welcome. The location is quiet and you have a very beautiful view of the sunset from the terrace. We were extremely satisfied and will gladly come again!
