Description
The Fonte Pecorale is a lovingly restored 19th-Azienda Century. It lies on the edge of the National Park of Gran Sasso to 450 meters amidst a charming landscape between the sea and the mountains of the Gran Sasso massif. Fonte Pecorale belongs to the community Montefino, Provincia di Teramo, with 1,100 inhabitants. The villa has two apartments: il Pozzo, Il Nido and the holiday house La Stalla. On the Fonte Pecorale you find peace and relaxation. Since the spring of 2008, there is a house: La Stalla. The name suggests that this building originally served as stables. After an extensive restoration work, one about 60 square meters large, comfortable apartment has been created. It is located 40 meters from the main house and has its own terrace, a small garden where you can enjoy the sun and rest, and a separate driveway and parking lot. The center of La Stalla is a large, comfortable kitchen. The modern bathroom has a large shower and a bidet. The two bedrooms are beautifully furnished with double beds and wardrobes. La Stalla is a bit higher than the large country house, offering beautiful views of the nearby mountains and villages. In the apartment has a TV with satellite connection. All three apartments are tastefully furnished and radiate a welcoming atmosphere. The beautiful terraces, decorated with Mediterranean plants, in front of the house or in the spacious garden, can be enjoyed wonderfully all day long. Guests can enjoy the olive trees growing on the slopes of Fonte Pecorale during their red and white wine holiday, as well as the self-pressed oil. At the request of our guests, we provide for breakfast fresh rolls, bread, focaccia, or tasty croissants, and in the vegetable garden there are lettuce, tomatoes, herbs, and much more.
One of the highlights of a holiday in Abruzzo is certainly a trip to Campo Imperatore, a plateau at 2100 meters altitude, where Gran Sasso (2912m), the highest mountain of the Apennines, rises in its shadow.
At Campo Imperatore, visitors encounter herds of horses that spend the summer there. On Campo Imperatore, the visitor finds rare plant species such as orchids and thistles depending on the season. In spring, the meadows are covered with colorful flowers. It can easily happen that the visitor must necessarily interrupt his journey because sheep, horses, or cattle are crossing the road. Great pleasure is also offered by one of the two butchers, with excellent cured meats and cheeses, as well as the typical Arrosticcini grilled delicacies offered on site. From this church at Rocca di Calascio, there is a breathtaking view of the valleys and mountains of the Apennines.

We have been going on vacation to Fonte Pecorale with our family for 15 years now.
It is always nice to spend the summer there. The facility is tip-top clean and well-maintained. The hosts are always attentive to their guests. There are many sights to see in the region. Even after 15 years, we always discover something new. By car, you can reach the fine sandy beach in Pineto in about 30 minutes. Or in 1.5 hours, you can be in Rome.
But the Gran Sasso mountain range also offers incredible views with many small towns.
The saltwater pool and vegetable garden are also highlights.

A little paradise
We stayed for 2 weeks in the apartment "la stalla". We felt completely comfortable, the apartment leaves nothing to be desired in terms of equipment. The landlords are super nice, generous and give great tips for tours, restaurants and much more. The swimming pool is a dream. I can only recommend this house.

An idyll to slow down and enjoy!
First of all, we would like to thank our incredibly generous hosts Ester and Pacelmo. You made sure that we didn't miss anything during our stay at LA STALLA. We felt completely comfortable on the lovingly designed Fonte Pecorale estate.
The four of us, two adults and two young adults, enjoyed every day here. Whether it was refreshing in the pool or relaxing on a lounger under the olive tree. Everyone found a cozy spot to relax on the spacious property.
Together, we spent beautiful evenings on the covered terrace right next to the house. We simply moved the cozy, very well-equipped kitchen outside. Our table was filled with delicious vegetables from the organic garden, fresh eggs, and olive oil to enhance our dishes. Simply delicious!
Although we have often spent our holidays in Abruzzo, Pacelmo had many new tips for us regarding culture, leisure activities, and restaurant recommendations.
The proximity to the sea as well as to the mountains contributed to a diverse holiday experience in Abruzzo with hiking tours in the Grand Sasso area, morning bike rides, or trips to the beach.
But above all, we enjoyed the peace and quiet in the beautiful hilly landscape, the nature, and the great view up here and felt very comfortable.
An idyll to slow down, relax, and enjoy!
