READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING, especially if you are traveling with CHILDREN!
We booked this stay through Belvilla at the beginning of January. Obviously indicated that we want to book something with 2 children aged 3 & 4 years.
So El Kedel was a house that emerged and appealed to us.
Let's start with communication with the contact persons, which is very brief and clever.
The way there is as described in other reviews a huge task. Now I am a fairly experienced driver, but the ride is not relaxed.
We drove here in the middle of the day, so we had enough light and were not tired yet.
We can imagine that you really don't want to make this ride in the evening after dinner, in the dark.
Once at the top we were already afraid to go down.
It will cost you some tires and a clutch if you don't have a 4x4.
It is also only a few km to the village (where there is nothing to do), but this short distance will take you a very long time because it is such a difficult road. Count at least 20 minutes extra before you can drive normally.
Then the biggest issue, the garden with beautiful views over the valley from the pool.
Yes the view is beautiful, no it is certainly not child friendly!
Our children are playful, active and inquisitive, but one step over the edge and they end up several meters down through the cacti.
For us this was the last straw to book a new house immediately upon arrival.
We almost had to lock the kids up when we couldn't keep an eye on them.
Calling and constantly having to keep an eye on that no one rolls down is certainly not a holiday...
We had of course checked this with the contacts, but they saw no problems.
There was also no understanding at all when we reported this.
The complaint is of course also directly with Belvilla. They understood us there, but couldn't do anything...
The pool was not very clean and the electrical appliances are dated.
The one night (out of 9) we spent there

A top view, unique location Quietly located

Anyone who has mastered the access route to the house, which is certainly challenging for many people (partly unpaved, one-lane, steep slope), will be rewarded with an excellent view. Cleanliness and the property management were excellent, only the garden could do with a little more attention. Quiet, secluded Location to relax.

Wonderful place for lovers of peace, space and privacy! Obv tips we had a 4wd car and that was not a luxury. The rough route gets used quickly, but requires good driving skills. The route via Algarobo is the easiest to drive (yep we have tried them all). With the manager we had very nice contact. A very helpful, nice man! The house and the terraces are fully equipped. Kitchen- bathroom and bed textiles are more than sufficient, and also a small base stock of consumables is present. From the master bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathroom you have a beautiful view of the valley and the sea. The house had just been refreshed with a new layer of paint, and looked well maintained. Highly recommended for those who want to relax, and occasionally want to go during the day!

Beautifully located house in the mountains with lovely pool and stunning views over the valley and to the zee.Two cons - the road to it is a narrow, 6 km long road with bumps and holes and lots of bends and a piece of unpaved. Only for the more experienced driver and with robust auto.Dit limited something the possibilities, because you do not just get away for a message. We have a lot of relaxed that week and at the cottage cooked so for us it fell.- heart summer at night it remains quite warm and there are only fans in the bedrooms.Air conditioning would be more comfortable. All in all a very nice week spent there.

The drive to the cottage is the first time very difficult. However, we were well received by the person who had the key with him, had a good explanation and was open to all questions and help. The environment is extremely phenomenal. The view you have in El Kedel is beautiful! The cottage itself is very nice and everything you need on holiday is present. Beautiful pool with beautifully landscaped garden and plenty of seating and lying options. We definitely recommend this and will definitely come back! The only downside is the way up which takes longer than you think, but this was absolutely no reason to visit the rest of the area. Tip Do not hesitate to book a 4x4 as a car because this is definitely recommended. We will definitely come back to El Kedel and will make a lot of advertising!

Beautiful villa with an exceptional viewThe house is beautifully situated and from there you have a phenomenal view of the sea and the mountains. The furniture (especially in the kitchen) are not the latest, but that did not bother us, as we were mainly on the terrace. The pool has a very nice size. Because the 30 minutes walk to the villa very narrow, Steep and bumpy, is definitely a 4x4 to rent. Our 2 week holiday could have been wonderful, if the pool would have been cleaned properly. On arrival the steward told us that he would come over once or twice a week to clean the pool. Already on the first day we noticed that both filters of the pool were full of leaves and the pool with every jump into the water polluted again. When the manager on the 4th day had not yet appeared for pool cleaning and greenish dirt had settled on the pool floor, we contacted him accordingly. Unfortunately, despite the promise, nobody came and the pool was always greener. Since we had no device, we could not even do the pool cleaning. We have the manager several times. Unfortunately, our requests to clean the pool, remained unsuccessful until the last day. In addition, the kitchen worktop was sticky on arrival and we found a moldy filter in the coffee maker. It's the first time we've had such a poor service with Belvilla!

Spicy task to find the house for the first time. The road to it is at certain points very dangerous and sometimes even almost impassable with a normal car. Fortunately we had a SUV (really recommended) so we got through it fairly. Upon arrival, everything seemed fine. Reception was good by Vicki, very nice smooth British woman who led us through the house. But after looking better, the house turned out to be poorly maintained and cleaned. Kitchen sticky and dirty boxes dirty. No hood in the kitchen, which makes the whole house for food long after cooking. bathrooms very fussy too. And shower soon after 2 minutes the water became cold again. Outside the furniture is very dated. stains in the seats dirty old pillows on the sunbeds. Also, there are no umbrellas and there is no possibility to shade in the day. You can not expect anything from the outdoor kitchen to have a gas stove of 2 pits that are apart from misery. Very dirty too. All the crates contain stuffed crates, but the crates were filled with dirty rusty water where the cooking utensils lay. There was also a wasp nest in the porch but we were told that it would be empty. However, the entire week had a huge amount of wasps, which forced us to go to the beach during the day instead of staying at the lovely pool. The pool is definitely a plus of the house. Well maintained and clean. There is little to no lighting outside the house so very dark in the evening. However, the view was also phenomenal. Certainly in the evening. Beautiful sunset behind the mountain peaks. All in all, if the house is thoroughly cleaned and cleaned. And after measurements of this time are brought to experience real luxury.

Nice, but late August is the most arid and dusty. Walking to the village Arenas because of the many hills and heat not recommended. Especially near the house you could occasionally spot a rat. The manager had the poison been happy with zich.Comfortabel house (where the air conditioning and hot water it would work properly), good food, beds and a very nice pool. There is no air-conditioning in the bedrooms, there is a fan. Supermarkets and restaurants are within 2 km (Arenas) but the road to it is so bad, that to actually do it only with a 4x4 properly. The beach is a half hour drive on a challenging route also.

Very comfortable house with beautiful views, privacy and a lovely private pool! The unpaved mountain road to it is a small adventure but also that part of Andalusia went. The coast is let you experience the traditional Spanish life and hospitality but especially near the Moorish mountain villages in the immediate vicinity. Worth repeating!

Hilltop house with stunning views over the sea and the hills. The house is built stylish and modern. Large living room, nice kitchen, air conditioning, beautiful terrace, nice pool, and an outdoor kitchen. The house is located far outside the village on a hill with similar properties, mainly British expatriates. The ride from village to house is tricky and very bumpy. The beauty of Nerja is 45 minutes away and the Axarquia Valley is around the corner.
K.L. Lub
Whole week of sunshine, warmth, peace, quiet, privacy, wonderful pool, almost on top of the mountains. Beautiful view! The last piece to the house is impassable; very steep slopes on unpaved bumpy winding roads. The distance of 7 km to the sea making an awful lot longer than you might expect. Service from the host was fine! A little more shade around the house would be welcome.

The road to the house was a bad road. Experienced drivers make it. Older people will have more difficulty in reaching the house. However, in quiet ride you'll get there. In the dark it gives a lot more effort to get up.
M. Koestering
In May 2016, we have family stayed a week in this property. Truly a place for tranquility. A large and deep pool and stunning views of the Mediterranean. Somewhat less suitable for small children due to the deep pool and the lack of a fence of the plot which is quite steep slope.
Ruud Trompert
Accommodation was excellent with lots of privacy. Accommodation is located some distance from the mountain. Spacious and maintained house and the items available were all good. Nice pool and you can enjoy the view over the mountains and sea. The road to it is a narrow road, sometimes bumpy and the last bit steep, but easy driving. Shops 30 minutes away in a big shopping mall. In the evening, going to a restaurant is a bit difficult through the narrow road in the dark. A good starting point for the beautiful nature and culture in the many cities.

Magnificent villa, very well equipped, well located, splendid view. Very good reception from the attendant. Spacious rooms, very well equipped kitchen with all equipment. No complaints except the lack of signage, just ask for information about the location of the villa. We quickly get used to the road

Villa El Kedel has a great location with fantastic views. The access road seems challenging, but is doable, especially after the manager has shown you the route. The villa itself has a pleasant layout, but is somewhat 'outdated' in terms of facilities: the coffee maker needs to be replaced, there is no properly functioning air conditioning and the outdoor kitchen lacks a decent BBQ. Fridge and washing machine work well. Bathrooms and bedrooms are ok (mosquito nets needed because of mosquitoes). There are many things from the owner, which make it 'homely' and do not get in the way, but which you sometimes wonder why they are there (> 15 multi-way plugs???). Villa is well maintained, but cleaning could be better. We had a wonderful stay, partly because the weather was good and we spent a lot of time outside on the terrace with fantastic views. All in all, the price-quality ratio is excellent. Also nice that we could stay a few days longer due to flight cancellation.
