We are here now for the second time. Actually we were going to go in 2020 but Covid put a stop to that. Fortunately, we were able to move our reservation to 2021. Unfortunately, we, but especially my wife, had another setback. A day before departure, the car already packed, a stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal, made it impossible for her to walk, barely sit and lie down. Lots of pain and no prospect of rapid improvement. So cancellation, but ..... immediately reserved for 2022, the same period. All excellently arranged, partly thanks to the efforts of Jos de Vaan, the owner of this brilliant home. Two days after our cancellation Jos and Ellie were already with us to soften the setback a bit and also brought a very nice board with cheese, tapas, nuts, fruit toast. They also kept in touch throughout the year. But we are there now, we immediately felt at home again, especially after the warm welcome from Jos, Ellie, Toon and Ans (Ellie's sister) and thanks to the interior design of the house and all the facilities for the disabled, we can enjoy the house , the immediate vicinity, the Ardennes and the Eifel. Our dog immediately recognized the area and has already set out his flags in the area. Immediately back to Monschau and, later, good food at a restaurant with Dutch people at the stove. We still have two and a half weeks left! More on that later!

We enjoyed the beautiful region on the border between Belgium and Germany. The town of Monschau was very appealing to us. Our teenagers enjoyed the Worriken holiday park, where they could climb, archery and canoe, among other things. The glassblower museum and the handicraft market during the rainy weather was a nice experience. The WiFi connection was too weak according to the current standard usage. Jos and Ella, as owners, can't do anything about it for now. However, there would be improvement in the future.

Weekends from four to six March, we stayed in the cottage La Salutation in Leykaul. On the Thursday before the weekend I got a call from the owner, he asked for a number of requirements. Before we drove into Monschau (incidentally a very nice place to visit), we were already stopped by the weather. We enjoyed our holiday in "La Salutation". The house is almost perfectly equipped, at least we have missed anything. For this, the friendly owner had it decorated stylish and lovingly. Located a few meters behind the German \/ Belgian border at Kalterherberg, the house offered a good starting point for hiking in the Eifel \/ in the various Fens (moors) of the region. By car we were in about 15 minutes in Monschau with its half-timbered houses and many dining options. We were two families with a guest in this very beautiful house. It is spacious, modern and friendly and nothing is missing. On really everything is thought, whether for children (cots and high chairs, stair gate up and down, plenty of toys for indoors and outdoors, ...) or in the kitchen (good crockery and cutlery, enough of everything, complete cooking facilities with good pots , pans, cooking utensils, induction cooker). There is ample and date information on the many objectives and opportunities offered by the surroundings. The kids (3, 6, 8 J.) played in the big garden, and we grilled repeatedly. Fenced land is up, the youngest one could not simply run without supervision. At night you can sit comfortably at the dining table or in the sofas together, there is mood lighting and even Kerzen.Wir have felt ourselves very well and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Rental la salutation is highly recommended. We stayed with 8 people and a small dog in this beautiful house with lots of light, which was very important for us. Spacious rooms with great beds, a nice outdoor terrace where we unfortunately could not really of use for a less good weather, quiet beautiful walking area with the possibility of geocaching. Well located for excursions to the lake of Butgenbach, Monschau, the High Fens, the Eifel, ...... And a very big plus is the warm reception my parents received from the owners on arrival, the flowers they have received during their stay for their 50th wedding anniversary, and the personal farewell. My partner and I travelled from Ludlow UK to this lovely property set close to the Forests, we invited her children (who are Dutch and live in Holland). The house was very suitable for all of us with plenty of space. The owners of the property had gone into great details of the house with regards to catering for disable people, wide doorways, no steps, hoists if needed and a shower chair, the only problem I found when using the shower chair in the shower was it was a bit of a tight fit and the shower tray was sunken which meant I did get stuck when trying to get out as the wheels being wet would slip when trying to get over the small step in shower tray, I think it would have been better to have had a level floor instead of a tray. A beautiful, comfortable and very well equipped house with lots of light through the glass window and door parties. It was a wonderful holiday in La Salutation. It is a cozy home that meets all the comforts for a wheelchair user. For me as a partner and for my wife, it is important that we can both enjoy a holiday and this is really possible! The kitchen is fully equipped and there is outdoor place to barbecuen.verder there is a fireplace where you can light a nice fire. The house is in a beautiful area with lots of greenery. If you drive down by car, there is a nice paved road for cyclists, horses and pedestrians where you can hike and enjoy the beautiful nature. Also, do you have a Railbike where you are helped very friendly if you want to start with a disabled person. A wonderful bakery in the village and a supermarket for necessary things. We had two fantastic weeks in this beautiful and complete holiday home. The welcome by the host and wife was most cordial! After an extensive tour and explanation, we could enjoy this beautiful holiday home. Spacious living/dining room and a large open kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. There is ample and date information on the many objectives and opportunities offered by the surroundings. The kids (3, 6, 8 J.) played in the big garden, and we grilled repeatedly. Fenced land is up, the youngest one could not simply run without supervision. At night you can sit comfortably at the dining table or in the sofas together, there is mood lighting and even Kerzen.Wir have felt ourselves very well and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Reception by very welcoming, attentive and helpful owners. The relatively new house exceeded our wildest expectations which I would like to endorse all previous positive reviews. A beautiful, comfortable and very well equipped house with lots of light through the glass window and door parties. The house has all modern conveniences (many DVDs \/ CDs and records, games etc. etc.) is provided and it was spotless. The bedroom with shower and toilet on the ground floor of the house suitable for the disabled. Weekends from four to six March, we stayed in the cottage La Salutation in Leykaul. On the Thursday before the weekend I got a call from the owner, he asked for a number of requirements. This of course was super, because in case anyone have any additional requests, he \/ she can pass it on to the direct owner. I had the day before departure the weather been a bit monitored because there was a lot of snow predicted for the weekend. Before we drove into Monschau (incidentally a very nice place to visit), we were already stopped by the weather. The owner had already passed his cell phone number, so we could send him a text message that we were what later. Upon arrival, both owners were waiting for us, we were welcomed warmly and they had been cleared of snow the path to the house! We got a tour of the house and gave us many tips for the weekend. The cottage is fully equipped, so there is a record there and there are many games. There are also plenty of DVD 's to watch and there are plenty of CD' s samples. In the spring we had a week in this beautiful, well-kept house in the Eifel. We were met by the owners and they also helped a bit longer to make us the ropes. The house is wheelchair friendly and still cramped shower will soon increase! Super! We are here now for the second time. Actually we were going to go in 2020 but Covid put a stop to that. Fortunately, we were able to move our reservation to 2021. Unfortunately, we, but especially my wife, had another setback. A day before departure, the car already packed, a stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal canal, made it impossible for her to walk, barely sit and lie down. Lots of pain and no prospect of rapid improvement. So cancellation, but ..... immediately reserved for 2022, the same period. All excellently arranged, partly thanks to the efforts of Jos de Vaan, the owner of this brilliant home. Two days after our cancellation Jos and Ellie were already with us to soften the setback a bit and also brought a very nice board with cheese, tapas, nuts, fruit toast. They also kept in touch throughout the year. But we are there now, we immediately felt at home again, especially after the warm welcome from Jos, Ellie, Toon and Ans (Ellie's sister) and thanks to the interior design of the house and all the facilities for the disabled, we can enjoy the house , the immediate vicinity, the Ardennes and the Eifel. Our dog immediately recognized the area and has already set out his flags in the area. Immediately back to Monschau and, later, good food at a restaurant with Dutch people at the stove. We still have two and a half weeks left! More on that later!

My partner and I travelled from Ludlow UK to this lovely property set close to the Forests, we invited her children (who are Dutch and live in Holland). The house was very suitable for all of us with plenty of space. The owners of the property had gone into great details of the house with regards to catering for disable people, wide doorways, no steps, hoists if needed and a shower chair, the only problem I found when using the shower chair in the shower was it was a bit of a tight fit and the shower tray was sunken which meant I did get stuck when trying to get out as the wheels being wet would slip when trying to get over the small step in shower tray, I think it would have been better to have had a level floor instead of a tray.

Most of all we all had a good week and it would have been better if the weather had been a bit kinder to us.

In November in Corona time we spent a blissful weekend in "La Salutation" with our children and their sweethearts. On Friday evening we were welcomed with open arms by the owners (super friendly!): It was already pleasantly warm in the house on that drizzly evening, the candles were burning, there was a bottle of wine, coffee and tea. After some explanation by the owner, our long-awaited weekend in the East Cantons could begin! The house is spotlessly clean, everything has been thought of, especially for visitors with walking difficulties. Our twenties were very fascinated by the record player and the collection of LPs. They found that quite special ...! The house is well located. You can cross the street and immediately walk into the woods. In the area there are thousands of -one possibilities for all types of hiking boots or for other outings. For example, our youth visited Monschau, a stone's throw from "La Salutation". We immediately felt at home, we enjoyed each other's company, in peace, safe bubble, and really being able to make time for each other again. We think back with pleasure to our weekend in the holiday stay of Jos and Ellie and really have nothing to complain about. Also the communication before, during and after will These people receive guests with such warmth and openness, you don't often find that in these strange times. The only downside for us were the beds: they are very soft. But that is of course very personal. For the rest: nothing but praise! We thank Jos and Ellie from the bottom of our hearts and will not soon forget our time in "La Salutation".

Despite not great location (right next to a highway from Belgium to Germany) nevertheless an excellent base for hikes and trips both in Belgium (VoerstreekArdennen) and Germany (EifelMonschau). Very friendly and helpful host and hostess. You could always reach them if necessary! The holiday home was very well furnished. Decent devices, very good beds. Very good TV (55 inch) with home cinema. You could watch BVN via satellite and there was also Netflix. Interesting when the weather is slightly less. We enjoyed the beautiful region on the border between Belgium and Germany. The town of Monschau was very appealing to us. Our teenagers enjoyed the Worriken holiday park, where they could climb, archery and canoe, among other things. The glassblower museum and the handicraft market during the rainy weather was a nice experience. The WiFi connection was too weak according to the current standard usage. Jos and Ella, as owners, can't do anything about it for now. However, there would be improvement in the future.

We had a wonderful midweek La Salutation. The house is spacious and offers all the amenities you need. Nearby you can enjoy hiking, biking track is 700 m. From the house and highly recommended and from the house you can walk into the woods. Monschau is a fifteen minute drive and also very rewarding. The owners are very helpful, you receive the warmest and are easily accessible for questions. The house is an amazing LP collection, where our children enjoyed themselves enormously. Since my mother has difficulty walking it seemed wise to rent a house with adjustments such brackets in the toilet, and a shower chair. The house La Salutation has excellent met expectations. We were very welcomed by the owners, so we immediately felt at home. The house is comfortably furnished with attention to details. The weather was certainly the first great days. On Wednesday morning there was a layer of snow, which is early for the time of year (October 14, 2015) but it still looks too beautiful. Monschau is a buzzing town briefly on. We had an excellent week in a beautiful environment where much to see is.Vlakbij are several lakes where excellent opportunities for hiking. All in all a good week's worth repeating.
