The holiday apartment is located directly at the Hümmling Nature Park. The nature park is characterized by gentle hills and deep forests, moors and heaths, as well as precious cultural heritage and small villages that shape the Geest ridge.
On foot or by bicycle, you can discover nature and architecture: from megalithic tombs of the Neolithic period and burial mound fields of the Bronze Age to mills and the Baroque palace complex Clemenswerth in Sögel. When exploring the grounds of Clemenswerth Hunting Lodge, you come at its end to the pond facilities, which should definitely not be missed. The deer installation here is a stylish highlight on the way through the extensive grounds.
Anyone who still wants to be physically active will pass by the Sögel climbing forest.
On the return trip to Börger, you can also explore the Batak house built in 1978. It is modeled after the stilt houses of the Batak, an Indonesian ethnic group on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
Whether the hikes start at the Heimathaus in Börger and go through the Ohe Valley or in the other direction to the juniper grove in Börger, there is much to discover and experience on all routes.
The Hümmlinger Pilgrimage Trail also passes through Börger by the willow church.
The recreation area Surwolds Wald is also a widely popular destination for family outings. In mini-golf, the generations compete with each other; on the 300-meter-long summer toboggan run, young and old alike have fun.
While the children romp on the playground with a 32-meter-high observation tower, the parents enjoy nature. Further attractions of the 34-hectare facility are a fairy tale and a climbing forest as well as a 3D archery park. Other highlights in the nearby area include the Meyer Shipyard and the Von Velen Complex in Papenburg, the “Schloss Dankern” amusement park in Haren, the open-air stage in Ahmsen and Meppen, and many other sights.
