Attention: Massive security deficiencies, lack of hygiene, and misleading information (Object No. 65323)

We booked the accommodation at Mittelweg 41 in Grömitz (listed as object no. 65323, locally named somewhat differently) for a week.

Unfortunately, the property did not match the information in the advertisement in any way and had serious deficiencies as well as acute safety risks:

Safety & accident risks:
A wobbly railing in the front door access area, an extremely slippery shower without grab bars, and a kitchen window that opens outward without a functioning lock. Massive danger for accompanying dogs: On the terrace stood a cherry laurel bush, whose falling, highly toxic berries contaminated the entire terrace area.
For an accommodation advertised as dog-friendly, this is an absolute no-go.

Hygiene & cleanliness:
Pungent cold smoke smell (despite booked non-smoking apartment), dried coffee stains on kitchen walls, heavily soiled crevices under the dishwasher, sticky chairs, and mold and dirt deposits in the bathroom. Furnishing & Equipment: Worn-out couch, squeaky bed, and a living room chair with a broken metal frame (acute risk of injury). Additionally, the number of rooms stated did not match the actual conditions on site.

Other neighbors from bungalows of the same landlord also reported defective furnishings in their accommodations. Since the landlord was personally present during the key handover, he was aware of the conditions.

Not everything that is written should be believed.

Actually, the few pictures of the house should have made us suspicious, but we seemed to have repressed it. The house appears cold and impersonal. The kitchen is a disaster. If one person is at the fridge, no one can pass by. With two people, the kitchen is closed due to overcrowding. The kitchenette, the corner bench, and the chairs are heavily worn. If one person is sitting on a chair, there is no way through. Although there are three bedrooms, there is no matching tableware for six people. The trash can has no lid and is right next to the bench.

The bedroom in the lower area is furnished with a bed that is extremely low, and the decoration is also carelessly and cheaply put together. The window faces a heavily trafficked street and can only be dimmed with outdated blinds. While it is true that the residential area itself is quiet, with no rowdy crowds, the street is very busy. If someone needs peace for sleeping, this is totally wrong.

The windows in the living room cannot be darkened at all. There are no curtains, blinds, or shutters. The Bose system listed was in a box on the sideboard, not even unpacked. The bathroom downstairs was renovated at some point, but only halfway. It all seems like it's cobbled together. When you try to open the vanity unit, it immediately tilts towards you. Not even a hairdryer is included in the amenities. The upper bathroom or shower seems to be designed for dwarfs. There were no cushions for the terrace chairs. However, the highlight is the beach chair in the garden. It is located in front of the house, on the busy street. We book vacation apartments or houses three times a year in Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, but we have never experienced such a discrepancy between price and quality.

Super holiday

Our holiday in this holiday home was simply wonderful. The house is very cosy and furnished with love. You have all the necessary things in the kitchen for cooking. We found the evenings on the terrace very cosy. The landlord gave us a very warm welcome and looked after us very well. We found it a pity that the week was over so quickly. The wonderful location and the perfect accommodation made our holiday unforgettable. We will always come back...
