Family reunion

We were allowed to be guests with 6 families for a weekend in the wilderness house. We all felt completely at home - from the little ones (1 year) to the big ones (75 years). The hosts welcomed us very warmly and explained everything about the house to us in a relaxed manner. There was something for everyone: space to play, chill, chat, cook, and enjoy cozy gatherings. Everything was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped. There was also everything for the little ones, from a baby bed, high chair to a play area. We look forward to the next visit!

Gladly again!!! Completely happy!!!

With the whole family (toddlers, uncles, aunts, cousins, and even dogs), we spent a very relaxed weekend with all the comforts, without any of us lacking anything. Fireplace, large sofa landscape, huge dining table for everyone, bowling alley, cinema, sauna, coziest rooms with great bathrooms, super excursions and space for cooking together afterwards, lighting design options for Hallowach or make yourself comfortable, shopping opportunities and much more, left no desire for more.
A friendly and appropriate introduction as well as a caring check-out provided a safe framework. The hosts have offered to be available for questions and problems in a polite and unobtrusive manner.
Also noteworthy is the attention to detail regarding the furnishings. Many collectibles and curiosities create a feeling of being trusted, which hopefully always pays off for the hosts. A fully equipped play area for our little ones and several options for putting them to sleep safely have left no wishes unfulfilled here. I could write more, but it also has to be read ;D

Family week

From Monday to Friday, we enjoyed a wonderful midweek in Heimbach, in the Wildernishaus in Eifel National Park, together with our three brothers, sister, and all our children. What a house, in a very beautiful setting! Besides beautiful hikes and swimming, there was plenty to do in the house itself: a cinema, bowling alley, table football, arcade cabinet with Mario, a sauna, shelves full of children's and adult books, tennis rackets, and lots of fun games. Also nearby, there is everything: a small soccer field, a bakery for fresh, warm bread, an ice cream parlor, a castle, and opportunities for water biking and canoeing. Our host Gerwin Ubels and his wife are very friendly and incredibly hospitable. No one had to be bored for even a minute. The children had so much fun that they actually didn't want to go home anymore. A lovely house that I would wholeheartedly recommend; a stay of longer than a week is definitely recommended! not to forget we were able to BBQ nicely.

Great house for a class trip

We were on a class trip with an 8th grade at the Wilderness House in Heimbach. The kitchen is very well suited for self-catering. The bowling alley, the cinema, and the soccer field around the corner, as well as the excursion options of pedal boating and mini-golf (both a 5-minute walk away), were a welcome change for the students. Mr. Ubels is nice and communication is straightforward! We would love to come back.

Perfect for a large family vacation with young and old! (Review Part 2)

The bowling alley works perfectly and can be used until 10 PM.
Through two of the rooms, you can access another cozy terrace with seating. The lawn behind the house cannot be used.
Unfortunately, the basement is not accessible for wheelchair users from the interior. However, the owners have allowed us to use a path outside the house along their terrace, which is wheelchair accessible. Dogs are also not allowed in the basement, which wasn't a problem for us but can influence the room layout.

The attic with sauna, shower, toilet, and a lovingly furnished relaxation room with a great view leaves nothing to be desired and was happily used by both young and old during our vacation. These rooms are not accessible for wheelchair users, as they can only be reached via a narrow staircase. However, this was not a problem for us. Dogs are not allowed in the sauna area, which is of course sensible for hygienic reasons.

In the immediate vicinity of the house, there are both paved paths and field paths that run through the hilly nature. A small boat dock can also be reached on foot, where you can rent pedal boats or treat yourself to an ice cream or drink.

Overall, we all really enjoyed the days and used the many opportunities that the wilderness lodge offers in very different ways. So we really all had a great time and definitely want to come back again!

Perfect for a successful vacation for large families with young and old! (Review Part 1)

We spent the Easter holidays with the extended family in the wilderness house and had a great time. Usually, one has to make a few compromises compared to the pictures on the internet, but the wilderness house exceeded our expectations. It is very lovingly furnished and decorated, and the owners are very nice and helpful. We had several physically disabled individuals and two dogs with us, so we had many questions in advance, all of which were answered patiently and very kindly.

The wilderness house offers a lot of space and, even when fully booked, more than enough opportunities to spend time together while also being able to retreat. The rooms are not huge, but they are clean and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is great; even with several people, you don't get in each other's way, and the equipment is plentiful. There are two coffee filter machines. On the ground floor, you can find a large, cozy living area right next to the bar and the play area. Behind that is the very spacious dining area and the balcony. Additionally, there is a four-person room, two double rooms, and a disabled-accessible restroom. In the outdoor area in front of the house, there is a large terrace with barbecue facilities and sun umbrellas. Right in front of the terrace, walking paths run along, and you are immediately in the greenery. For families with small children or dog owners, it may be relevant that the front yard is not fenced.

The basement offers, in addition to two double and two quadruple rooms, a cozy, beautiful cinema. Here you can connect devices via Chromecast or HDMI, as well as watch movies through your own Netflix account; there is also a large selection of DVDs available. In the hallway area, you will also find a foosball table, a digital pinball machine, and an arcade game. This made our smaller and larger boys very happy! The bowling alley is another highlight.

What a delightful stay! Highly recommended!!

We had a wonderful vacation with our family in the Wildnishaus! A beautiful setting, at the foot of the Hoge Venen. A luxury home, equipped with all possible comforts (even bed railings, night lights, and steps for the little ones were present). We could relax wonderfully in the sauna, each room had its own bathroom and there was an extra shower by the sauna. The lower floor was unmatched as well, with a game room and cinema, and absolutely fantastic, the nostalgic bowling alley! There are no drawbacks to think of; it is simply an absolute recommendation, of that we are unanimously convinced with our family.

Fantastic family weekend

We spent a fantastic family weekend with 13 people in the Wilderness House. It is so lovingly and harmoniously furnished. Each room has its own bathroom, and even our dog had towels and treats ready. Unfortunately, the weather was too nice to use all the facilities in this house, so we definitely have to come back. The sauna looked great, not to mention the relaxation room with this wonderful view. The cinema is really a great "small cinema" where you truly feel comfortable.
Everything is also geared towards many people, so nothing is lacking.

Family Weekend

We spent an extended weekend in the wilderness house with a total of 8 children ranging from kindergarten to secondary school.

The house is well-equipped and offers many possibilities. The house is very spacious and the location is very nice. It is situated in greenery, yet it takes just 10 minutes to walk to the center.

The cinema and the electronic game console were very popular with both the children and us adults.

Annual Family Weekend

We were all pleasantly surprised by the beautiful location, the very spacious accommodation, the good insulation of the bedrooms, and the completeness of the kitchen. The facilities, specifically the cinema, the bowling alley, and the sauna, also received a lot of praise... everyone was very happy with this. As for the walking environment, it was also great! We felt very comfortable and had a lovely family vacation. Great location with many excursion opportunities. Even in rainy weather, the house hardly lacked anything to fill the days. Kegel vacation

We had planned the vacation as a bowling trip with our bowling club. Consequently, the bowling alley in the house was a significant factor in our choice. What we found upon our arrival and what we experienced during our stay was as if it was made for us. The amenities leave nothing to be desired. The wilderness house is perfect for larger groups who want to do something together, but it also offers enough space, room, and opportunities for individuals. We were undoubtedly satisfied and recommend the wilderness house without reservation. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable given the possibilities the house offers. Super family house!

We were on site with 22 people and thus used all the sleeping places. Nothing was missing, the equipment was excellent, and the two dishwashers saved us a lot of work. There is enough play material available for children, and we adults had a lot of fun on the bowling alley. The house is large enough that everyone had the opportunity to retreat. We particularly liked the mix of 80s charm and modern accents. Great accommodation!

Beautiful travel destination with a large group

The location of the holiday home is in a quiet environment. Within walking distance, there are shopping opportunities, a playground for children, and sights to see. There are more attractions nearby. The holiday home has Wi-Fi. The kitchen is well-equipped. The beds are super comfortable. Many board games are available, as well as informational material about outings. Stay was too short.

We were with our whole family and 4 grandchildren for a long weekend. Sunday afternoon, the 4 boys asked us if they could stay longer. That is already a top rating when the children were so satisfied. What more can I add: everything is spotlessly clean and complete. Beautiful bedrooms with fine beds and spacious bathrooms with top brands sanitary ware. Beautiful view, comfortable living room, and well-equipped kitchen. And when it rains, there are many opportunities "under your own roof." The excursion destinations in the area are also excellent. Will definitely come back.

We have never experienced anything like this before. Such a large house for 20 people, super. We had a great weekend with the whole family. The landlords are super friendly, nice, and helpful. Besides food and drinks, you don't need to bring anything, everything is there on site. Even many board games for young and old are available. A great house for groups

We were with a group of 16 people in the house and felt completely comfortable. All guests were enthusiastic. The care by Gerwin was great, we made intensive use of the facilities and the many possibilities of the house (cinema, bowling alley, sauna). The kitchen and the barbecue area are well equipped, beautiful dishes, great rooms - I can recommend it all around. The house is ideally located for many hikes, we went boating on the Rursee, it is quiet and at the same time you can reach the bakery in 5 minutes. We have already booked for next year!

Highly recommended

We had a really excellent weekend at the Wilderness House. It is very beautifully located in the green.
We were greeted very nicely. There was also nice contact with the landlords before and after the trip. It is important to them that the guests have a nice stay.

Thanks to the good weather, we were also able to use the grill very well.
Special highlights were watching football together in the cinema room and of course the bowling alley, which is in top condition.

Wonderful week in the wilderness house

We had a big family gathering at the wildlife house with 20 people ranging from 5 to 85 years old.
Everyone was completely thrilled with the accommodation: the spacious living room, well-equipped kitchen, beautiful terraces, large grill, clean rooms, great sauna and relaxation area upstairs, and of course the many recreational opportunities in the basement: cinema, bowling alley, foosball, and pinball. There was something for everyone, even a nice play area for the little ones. So the togetherness of multiple generations was relaxed and harmonious. Mr. Ubel was also a friendly and helpful host.

Best place for a family gathering

For the second time, we, as an extended family ranging from 6 to 83 years old, have gathered here. Thanks to the extensive options of a bowling alley, foosball, and more, everyone was able to play, cook, chat, etc., carefree together. Lovely house for a family weekend

We stayed in the Wildnishaus for a long weekend with family members ranging from 1 to 88 years old. Everyone had a great time. There are many things in the house that make it extra special, like the cinema, bowling alley, foosball table, pinball machine, and sauna. The house is decorated with great care with a nice touch of the 80s. The other facilities (bedrooms, beds, showers, living room, kitchen) are all of good quality and spacious. There is a large balcony on one side and a large patio with a barbecue. In short, we all had a wonderful family weekend in a beautiful environment.

Great holiday home that leaves nothing to be desired.

Beforehand - very friendly hosts. Simple and quick friendly communication.

The accommodation is wonderfully located on the outskirts of Heimbach in nature. Hiking and cycling trails are right by the house. Ample parking at the house. Close to supermarket, Heimbecken reservoir with beer garden and pedalo rental. Within walking distance of Heimbach with Hengebach Castle. Kneipp pool and outdoor pool can also be reached on foot. The Ruhr is practically on the doorstep, as is a small, fine playground for kids with a small water playground.

Inside the house, nothing is missing. The hosts have paid great attention to the furnishings, with small lovely details found everywhere. There is plenty of crockery and seating available. 2 fridges, 2 coffee machines, toaster, plenty of pots and pans, 2 dishwashers.

The ground floor is open-plan with a living and dining room with enough seating for large groups. A bar with a fridge and fireplace. The fully equipped kitchen is on the ground floor. 2 terraces on the ground floor, one with a grill and seating. At the back, a terrace with a view of nature towards the east and the Ruhr. On the ground floor, you will find 1 four-bed room (2 single beds, 1 bunk bed) with good mattresses and an integrated bathroom. The 2 two-bed rooms have a ground-level walk-in shower and a separate toilet. All rooms are furnished to a high standard with attention to detail.

In the basement, there are 2 four-bed rooms and 2 two-bed rooms (same furnishings and size as on the ground floor). In the entrance hall are a pinball machine and table football. In a separate room, there is a complete cinema with cinema seats, and in another room, the bowling alley is housed.

On the basement level, there is another terrace with a fire pit and seating. A trunk has also been thought of for blankets and seat cushions.

The sauna with shower and relaxation area is on the upper floor. Great views. All high quality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (which was far too short).

Wonderful accommodation!

We were there as a card club and everything was very enjoyable. The house and location are excellent. We fully enjoyed the opportunities the house offers. The bowling alley in particular was a lot of fun. We also spent nice hours on the beautiful terrace. There are also nice destinations nearby. We liked it so much that we will book again for 2024 directly.

Great family weekend at the Wilderness House

We spent a long weekend with the whole family at the Wilderness House and are completely satisfied.

The equipment leaves nothing to be desired - whether small things like kitchen utensils, board games, books, outdoor games, sports equipment and much more, or a bowling alley, pinball machine - everything is really available. The sauna was a highlight, as was the in-house cinema. The rooms are of a very good standard and a private bathroom in each double room is an added bonus.

The host is very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The house has a wonderful location in the countryside and yet is within walking distance of the town centre.

Wilderness around us - but stay in a house with modern comforts

We arrived with a travel group of 16 adults, 12 of whom had physical and/or mental disabilities, and enjoyed our stay very much, also thanks to mostly good weather.
But bad weather would not have been a problem either, because the house offers great facilities, very well thought-out and complete. There is a beautiful view of the countryside, a great bowling alley, a sauna and a cinema room worthy of the name (beamer, sound, seating at different heights like in a theatre). You only need to bring your own selection of DVDs or BluRays, . In addition, there are pinball machines and table football as well as many recreational possibilities inside the house and also on a beautiful balcony. Reading material is also available, as well as many tips and suggestions.

Thanks to the excellently equipped kitchen and short distances to 2 discounters in Heimbach, we were able to supply ourselves very well and comfortably. We enjoyed using the roofed barbecue on one day, which worked very well and was easy to clean. Apart from that, the village of Heimbach and the surrounding area offer many leisure activities, which we used to a good extent.

We are/were so thrilled that we immediately booked again for next year!

Family weekend at the Ubels family wilderness house

We had a wonderful family weekend at the Wildnishaus in Heimbach.
From the baby (2.5 weeks old) to the senior citizen with 84 years, we all felt very comfortable with 20 people plus a dog (pug).
The house is large enough for this number of people and everyone still has a place to retreat - if desired.
The leisure facilities, from the bowling alley to the home cinema room to the pinball machine and table football (all included in the price and therefore free of charge) were very nice and were used by everyone
and were used extensively by all family members.
Kitchen, bar etc. is equipped with really everything you need or could need!!!!
Last but not least, a host family who were always very helpful with any questions or requests. We will be happy to come back if the opportunity arises again. Thank you very much again.

We stayed at the great wilderness house with our two sons and their partners.
As soon as we parked, we were greeted in a very friendly manner by the owner Gerwin. He immediately took us on a tour of the large, fantastic holiday home. We were immediately impressed by all the facilities: the bowling alley in the basement, the pinball machine, the cinema... simply amazing. The rest of the house is also very well furnished.
High-quality mattresses ensured a good, restful night's sleep from the very first night. The equipment of the kitchen... leaves nothing to be desired. If we had any questions, Gerwin was there immediately and always helped us in a friendly way. The house is very quietly situated in the middle of nature. The chirping of the birds and the call of the eagle owl always delighted us. Actually, you don't have to leave the house at all - it offers so many possibilities... the lovingly designed sauna, with the great view, was unique. All in all, a successful, relaxing and very nice holiday. Once again, many thanks to Olga and Gerwin - the super landlords. Best wishes, continued success and ALL THE BEST!

We spent our family vacation between Christmas and New Year's with 6 adults, 11 children, and a dog for 3 days. Everyone was totally thrilled with the house. Of course, the bowling alley, foosball table, pinball machine, and home theater were the highlights.

Perfect for a family vacation

We spent Ascension Day with our entire family (grandparents with three children and their families, including three grandsons) at this great place. Perfect for us - everyone had their own room, the large kitchen, spacious living/dining area, 2 terraces, a huge balcony with a great view of the Rur Valley, the bowling alley, and even a cinema! Suitable for every season, as there is plenty of space and opportunities even in bad weather - something for everyone! We will come back and have already booked for next time.

We spent a perfect weekend with several people from 7 different households at the WILDNISHAUS. The landlords are incredibly warm-hearted, and the rooms, especially the beds, are impeccable. A nice short holiday with the family

We were 7 adults, 8 children, and 1 dog in the house. The children had a lot of fun at the cinema. Even the oldest one at 87 years old enjoyed sitting with the great-grandchildren and watching movies at the cinema. Unfortunately, the weather was not so nice, so the hikes in the beautiful surroundings were short. Nothing was missing in the house. Everything we needed was available. The rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Thank you for the wonderful time.

We visited the Wilderness House for the first time as a larger group of friends and were thrilled. From the moment we entered, we felt comfortable. The house is tastefully decorated with much love, especially the gathering by the fireplace was delightful, and the fantastic cinema was the major highlight. There is so much to explore in the surroundings (hiking and biking), and there are plenty of fun things to do in the house when the weather is not great :). Weekend trip to Heimbach

The contact with the landlords before the stay was very friendly and accommodating. Several parking spaces are available right at the accommodation. Upon arrival, the landlord gave a brief introduction to the local amenities, allowing us to independently use the home cinema, bowling alley, and other entertainment options. The accommodation offers various opportunities to spend time together in a large group. The rooms were clean and modernly furnished, even with maximum occupancy they offer enough space. Additionally, the rooms on the upper floor are easily accessible for guests with limited mobility, and there is also a disabled toilet available. The holiday home is located directly at the Eifel Nature Park, with many hiking trails within walking distance from the accommodation. In Heimbach, several restaurants are available, and two supermarkets offer shopping opportunities. The departure was uncomplicated and the refund of the deposit was quick.

We've never had anything better for our annual family gathering. Great facilities. There's something for every age, even in bad weather: bowling alley, kids' play area, foosball... and much more. Accommodation and recreational opportunities

Our entire group (20 people, ages ranging from 25 to 30 and 58 to 62 years) felt very comfortable in the very spacious house. Everyone could pursue their interests, whether in the group or on their own. The kitchen equipment is excellent, and the condition of the rooms inside and outside is equally so. In addition, the landlords are extremely friendly! There are many recreational opportunities around, so you don't need a car. We will be back!

Truly fantastic spacious accommodation: very large living area with cozy couches, dining-play tables, terrace, beautiful view, 7 luxury hotel rooms with private shower/toilet, comfortable beds. Despite the bad weather, we had a great time: bowled, watched movies, played lots of games. There's plenty for young children too: games, chalk, baby/children's toys, balls, art supplies, storybooks, and even Donald Ducks! Holiday adventure in the wilderness lodge

The Wilderness House in the Eifel National Park is located in a beautiful and quiet area. Within just a few minutes, you can walk to Heimbach, and shopping facilities are also easily accessible in a short time.
We used the house as group accommodation for a holiday camp, and the various options in the house (foosball table, bowling alley, cinema room) kept the teenagers entertained. The accommodation is very clean. The rooms are tidy and the beds are comfortable. Especially the view from the terrace is to be enjoyed. We didn't miss anything, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the host welcomed us warmly and provided us with important information. We would book the wilderness house in the Eifel again at any time.

We (about 12 people around 25 years old) have been to the wilderness house twice and are thrilled. The apartment is extremely spacious and the bowling alley, pinball machine, and home cinema ensure that boredom doesn't stand a chance if you're not out hiking in the beautiful surroundings! Cooking together in the fully equipped kitchen is great. In the summer, you can also grill with a beautiful view or spend a cozy evening by the fire pit. The landlords are very friendly and helpful. We are happy to stop by for a third time!

We were with a large group of friends at the wilderness lodge and it was a truly perfect stay. The house offers all the amenities you need. Watching the Euro Cup games on a movie screen, just top! TOP group accommodation in a very beautiful and quiet location

We booked 3 nights at the Wildnishaus for our company outing this year (17 people and 1 dog) and were thrilled. Surrounded by nature and silence, yet you can reach the town of Heimbach in just 5 minutes on foot. Or walk 5 minutes and you are at the Rur river and pedal boat rental. The accommodation itself is very clean and well-equipped, we didn't miss anything. The rooms (2 and 4-bed rooms) are freshly renovated and each has its own bathroom. The bowling alley and the cinema on the lower floor are great. From here, you can also access a large terrace with a fireplace, perfect for baking bread on a stick. The main floor features a huge kitchen with 2 dishwashers, an oven, plenty of stovetops, 2 refrigerators, and all the utensils you would expect in a well-equipped kitchen. The lounge area with two huge tables, a bar with plenty of seating, and access to the large balcony can be used for various purposes. The hosts Olga and Gerwin are very warm and helpful, we felt completely comfortable. We are happy to recommend the wilderness house. It definitely deserves 5 stars.

We were with a group of 16 people, for a weekend at the wilderness house.
The house is really a highlight in terms of equipment. With a bowling alley, home cinema, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and a large terrace, there was really nothing missing.
2 refrigerators with freezer compartments, 2 dishwashers, oven, stove, microwave, toaster, and plenty of dishes are available.
The rooms seem newly furnished and each have a large, modern and walk-in shower. Overall, the house was perfect for our stay and definitely even better than we had imagined beforehand.

Great house, friendly landlords, and a perfect location... that's how the Wildnishaus can be described.

The house truly leaves nothing to be desired. The pinball machine and bowling alley provided a lot of fun. The private cinema was also an absolute highlight.

Various terraces allow for cozy gatherings even with larger groups and taking advantage of the sun all day long.

We found a spotless house. There is nothing missing in the kitchen, the 2 dishwashers are especially advantageous given the size of the house and not a matter of course.
