Activities in the area: Hikers and mountain bikers are in their element here: Torfhaus is an ideal entry and starting point for tours of all kinds. Numerous well-signposted hiking trails of different lengths lead through the Harz National Park. Mountain bikers can start tours of the "Volksbank Arena Harz" routes here, and those who have not brought their own bike can easily rent a mountain bike or e-bike here. The small town is also a fantastic starting point for motorcyclists for the most beautiful trips.
In winter, Torfhaus is an interesting destination for skiers, cross-country skiers and sleigh riders: some beautiful cross-country ski trails, a drag lift for skiers and a toboggan lift exclusively for sleigh riders promise varied snow fun.

Torfhaus is a total mood, The hiking trails are great, and the air is so fresh, Besides, the nearby castle is a lovely day trip! I definitely recommend it.

The hosts were incredibly helpful and welcoming! They provided great advice on local attractions like Wernigerode Castle. The area is quiet, and we appreciated the pet-friendly policy since we were traveling with our dog.
