Welcome to Hochkeil Lodge located on an alm bordering the forests just above Mühlbach am Hochkönig at 1250m elevation.
The Lodge will be completed in December 2019, carefully designed and decorated with taste so you can enjoy your quality time.

Nestled on an idyllic slope of the Hochkeil mountain (1720m) with five new luxury villas, of which the Hochkeil Lodge is the highest situated chalet. On a small country road, this detached chalet is located in an oasis of peace, quiet and nature.
The interior also exudes peace and comfort: natural colours and materials and comfortable and stylish interior.
Thanks to its south-facing location, the chalet has a large number of sun hours with long sun days to enjoy the spacious terraces and the large balcony.
From here beautiful views of the valley of Mühlbach am Hochkönig and the high snowy alpine peaks.
The view from the large living room on the mountains is breathtaking!
The winters are very snow-sure thanks to the local microclimate and in the summer, there are plenty of activities. This beautiful stretch of high mountains is worthwhile all year round!
The Lodge
Attention is the best thing you can give
When designing the Lodge, the goal was to create a complete experience: A light, spacious and robust chalet with the Alps on your lap. Sustainability played a major role in the design of the chalet. The heat pump, solar panels, underfloor heating and the insulating capacity of the house make it an extremely comfortable and eco-friendly chalet. The chalet is built for those who appreciate quality and who handle quality with care.
There is also high-speed WIFI and Netflix. To keep the lodge pure and beautiful, smoking and pets are not allowed.
Living room
The living room has a high ceiling and is surrounded on all sides by glass. The glass doors give access to the two side terraces. The two large sliding glass doors at the front side of the house (each 4 meters!) can both be opened and give access to the balcony which stretches along the entire length of the living room with the view on the mountains. The mountains reach your living room!
Wood and other high-quality materials were used for the design:
An elegant 3-meter-long oak tree trunk table where you can easily sit with 12 people. This is the central place in the living room. Here you can spend hours either dining together, or just reading the newspaper or playing a game.
A generous sofa with cozy lounge corner where you can relax and enjoy the atmospheric wood burning stove.
Kitchen
Adjacent to the living room is the spacious open kitchen. This modern kitchen is equipped with all conveniences and equipment such as an induction cooking system, extra-large oven, luxury coffee machine (Jura), dishwasher, fridge and freezer.
Terraces and balcony
Hochkeil Lodge has at three sides terraces and balconies, all oriented to the sun for a day-long sunshine:
· On the east side a terrace which can be reached through the glass doors next to the kitchen. On this terrace you have sunlight from early morning so you can enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the lounge chairs in the lovely morning sun.
· On the south side a balcony that runs around the entire Lodge and connects the two terraces. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy the sun all day long and open the large glass sliding doors. This way you expand the living room with the balcony. The sun and the mountains reach your dining table!
· On the west side a large terrace which can be reached by the glass doors next to the lounge corner in the living room as well. This terrace has afternoon and evening sun. After an active day you can unwind here with a glass of wine or have dinner together at the large table with comfortable chairs.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom has its own patio doors with terrace. The chalet is robustly built, minimizing sound from each other. The bedrooms have blackout curtains for an optimal night's rest and the beds all have hotel quality matrasses. All bedrooms are equipped with a TV with Netflix subscription.
Four bedrooms are on the ground floor and one is on the first floor:

Location and surroundings of object
The village of Mühlbach am Hochkönig is a 5-minute drive (4km) from the chalet and an 8-minute drive (6km) away is the modern Karbachalm Bahn cabin lift with ample (free) parking options.
In of Mühlbach am Hochkönig there a no chalets located at the piste. That’s why there’s ample free parking positions and the cabin lift can easily be reached.
The Karbachalm Bahn will take you to the Hochkönig ski area in a few minutes. A fully-fledged ski area with up-to-date lifts (33 units) and 120 km of slopes. In this ski area, the Königstour is a very popular skiing day trip of 35 km crossing 6 mountain peaks.
If you prefer to leave the car at home, the free ski bus stops a 5 short minutes’ walk from the chalet and takes you to the same Karbachalm Bahn.
The ski area of Hochkönig is part of the much larger Ski Amadé, which comprises 5 regions, 25 villages, 760 km of slopes and 270 lifts.
Around the corner from the chalet, the smaller ski area of Hochkeil is 3 minutes’ drive by car. It is a small area with a few tow lifts and is ideal for children to take their first meters on skis or for a day of snow fun on the sled or for a walk. Attention and care for the little ones.
This is also a crossroads of hiking trails along and over the Hochkönig massif in the summer. Hiking trails also start directly in the forest behind Hochkeil Lodge, a beautiful nature reserve where you can, amongst other things, walk the Hochkeilrundweg ( km).
If you would like to enjoy classic Austrian cuisine, the locally beloved restaurant of the Grünholz guesthouse is 50 meters away from the chalet. Dinner at walking distance of your lodge, on a gorgeous mountain slope!
Mühlbach am Hochkönig
The child-friendly Mühlbach is a quiet, authentic village at an altitude of around 900m. The village is crossed by a stream and has several good restaurants, a supermarket and a bakery. All facilities are available for alpine sports and for the active summer vacation: ski school, ski rental, sports shops and mountain bike rental etc.
The village also has a mining museum in the former old copper mine and in the summer the heated outdoor swimming pool is open. A larger swimming pool with various facilities and slide is located half an hour away in the village of Maria Alm.
The village of Mühlbach am Hochkönig is 980 km from Utrecht and is easily accessible at only 45 minutes by car from Salzburg airport.
It is 15 minutes by car from the regional town of Bischofshofen, which is also easily accessible by public transport.
In case of snowfall it may be necessary to use snow chains to reach the Lodge by car.

| We are looking forward welcoming you! Here is some practical information. Minimum stay during high season is 7 nights ( Saturday till Saturday), and during the rest of the year 4 nights. Your rental fee is included: Bedlinnen, towels, unlimited use of sauna, internet and Netflix. We have unlimited high quality coffee and tea waiting for you. The rental fee is excluded: cleaning fee 200€ and tourist tax 1,55€ per day per person older than 15 years old. A deposit of 750 euros will be requested from you. We kindly request you to pay this deposit at the moment of your booking. This will be sent to you as a separate bill. The first 48 hours after you have made the reservation, the booking can be cancelled 100% for free. The total rental price ( rent, cleaning fee and tourist tax) should be paid latest 12 weeks before your arrival date. Winter
Alpine skiing
Due to its location relative to the Hochkönig massif, the ski area of Mühlbach am Hochkönig has proved over the years to be a very snow-sure ski area. Depending on the snow conditions, the lifts are open from the beginning of December to mid-April.
A ski pass for the Hochkönig area is also the ski pass for the entire Ski Amadé area.
Ski Amadé comprises no less than 760 km (!) of slopes and consists of 5 ski areas; Hochkönig (120 km of slopes), Gasteinertal (187 km of slopes), Großarltal (80 km of slopes), Salzburger Sportwelt (225 km of slopes) and Schladming-Dachstein (188 km of slopes), making it the largest ski area in Austria. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced skier, there is something for everyone. You can go anywhere with your ski pass and the ski bus can take you to the surrounding areas.
The quiet Hochkönig ski area with a view of the impressive Hochkönig massif (2941 m) consists of the villages of Mühlbach, Dienten and Maria Alm (blue runs 52 km, red runs 41 km and black runs 19 km). The area is known for its long runs on wide varied slopes with fantastic views of the Hochkönig massif. Modern lifts and favourable waiting times make it a very attractive area. Skiing the Königstour (35 km) will take you from one side of the area to the other, without encountering the same slope twice.
The area is additionally loved because of a wide choice of Alpine huts (Alms) where you can enjoy a drink or lunch, authentic Austrian and sometimes also more modern cuisine. These Alms can be found amongst the pine trees on the slopes. Also, for après-ski the Tiergarten Alm or Scheppal Alm are the places to be.
In high season you can also go up the slopes on Wednesday evenings. The Tiergartenalm and the Zapferalm stay open longer, so you can still enjoy a drink in the setting sun (and with a bit of luck there is live music as well).
The youngsters among can have a blast in the three different fun parks. There is free WIFI around the larger lift stations. The Kingscab even has its own WIFI per cabin and in case snowfall is not sufficient, an extensive network of artificial snow machines has been set up.
There is also a ski pass (30% discount) for only the smaller Hochkeil area (12 km of slopes). There are great off-piste options here.

Cross country skiing
Enjoy no fewer than 700 km of well-groomed trails in the Ski Amadé area. From a small track to complete day trips, it is all possible.
The views that you will encounter along the way are breathtaking. From views on the high peaks to beautiful paths through the fragrant forests.
If you really don't know when to quit, on the Maria Alm there are even illuminated trails for the evenings.
Summer
The Hochkönig area has many opportunities for activities for young and old in the winter but certainly also in the summer.
Hiking
Walking in the summer from the Hochkeil Lodge is just fantastic and it means walking in a great nature with flowering meadows and endless pine forests. There are more than 300 km of well-marked trails. The variety is large: There are tours with little difference in height, bypasses but certainly also brisk walks with a lot of differences in height. The views along the way are phenomenal. Along the way you will come across more than enough cozy Alm huts where you can enjoy a cool drink or a traditional Austrian dish to catch your breath.
You can literally start your walk in the back garden of Hochkeil Lodge. The “Hochkeilrundweg” runs over the Hochkeil mountain (1720m), a panoramic walk of km.
If you want to make a longer tour, we recommend the "Majestätische Weitwanderweg", a beautiful multi-day tour of 73 km where you see a lot of this stunning area along the way.
There is also a challenging hike (in the summer months) to the Matrashaus at 2941 meters at the top of the Hochkönig. You can also spend the night there. This cabin is supplied by helicopter and you can see the world below.
The free ski bus changes to the free walking bus during the summer season (from May to October) and stops close to Hochkeil Lodge. The bus will drive you through the entire area.
Several lifts are in operation during the summer and these will take you up briskly, where you can start your walk on the meadows (open from May to November).

Elmer and Dominique are both lovers of active vacations in the mountains. After several mountain climbing courses in his youth, Elmer climbed Grossglockner at a young age. Dominique discovered the joyfull snow in the Alps when she was a little girl, barely able to walk, but already on skis. Both fell in love with the Hochkönig area and the Mühlbach valley.
