Borgo Le Caselle is divided into the lower house, Casa dei Nonni and the upper house, which houses two separate apartments: the Casa Soprana (110 square metres, up to 6 people) and the "Alte Schule - Scuola Vecchia" (40 square metres, 2 people). Both flats together can also be rented for a group of up to 8 people.
The entire property is terraced with stone walls, each apartment has its own ground-level access and terraces with panoramic views over the mountains and valleys of the Golfo di Policastro and the sea on the horizon (approx. 30 minutes' drive).
Casa Soprana:
2-3 bedrooms for up to 6 people, 2 bathrooms with shower, 1 living room/kitchen with fireplace and dishwasher, 3 terraces, WIFI, satellite TV.
In front of the entrance there is a small utility building with wood store and laundry room, where you will find a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
You can park your car in the shade of a holm oak tree.
You enter Casa Soprana through a large eat-in kitchen with fireplace, dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven, TV and Internet connection. On the same level there is a large living room/bedroom for two people and a bathroom with shower and bidet. A door leads through a small terrace with morning sun into the holm oak forest, a staircase to the upper floor. Here you will find a bathroom with shower and two double bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with separate beds. Both have access to the 25 square metre roof terrace with sweeping views of the unspoilt mountains and the strip of sea on the horizon.
A swing and a wooden house with a hammock await conquerors in the holm oak forest!
Both the house and the outdoor facilities are fully furnished, the kitchen is well equipped, bed linen and towels are provided, and we can also organise a cleaning service for you on request. Wood for heating and barbecuing is freely available.
During the renovation of the old buildings, care was taken to use natural and local materials: the floors are tiled with cotto, the ceilings are made of chestnut wood and the roofs are covered with handmade roof tiles.

Location and surroundings of object
Borgo Le Caselle is situated at an altitude of almost 700 m on a south-western slope in a small hamlet of the village of Tortorella in the Golfo di Policastro, on the southern edge of the UNESCO-protected Cilento National Park, on the border between Campania and Basilicata.
The neighbours still have a small agriculture with cows, sheep, chickens and vegetable production, others still live almost like 50 years ago as shepherds and produce ricotta, pecorino and lamb.
The house is also suitable as a starting point for hikers. If you would like to hike, you will find advice and maps here. On request we also organize guided hikes
In midsummer, the high altitude and the adjacent holm oak forest offer pleasant coolness and a welcome change from beach life. In the middle of the gulf at Villamare you will find typical Italian beach life in midsummer with sun lounger rental and bar service, on the cliffs at Acqafredda in the south and at Scario in the north you will find small bays with crystal clear water, some of which are difficult to reach.
With best visibility you can see from the terrace the volcano Stromboli on the horizon. Especially in the colder months you can watch wonderful sunsets. The charming village of Tortorella with spectacular views, grocery store, bar and post office is about 6 km away
The village is enthroned at 600 m above sea level on a hilltop which slopes down to the Thyrrenian Sea over olive groves and wooded areas, bordered to the west by the deep gorge of Bussentino. From various vantage points you can enjoy the view from the sea over the coastal mountains of Calabria, our "home mountain" Monte Cocuzzo (1389 m), Monte Cervati (1899 m), Monte Sacro to M. Bulgheria.
The familiar place has largely retained its original face: Natural stone houses with decorative portals nestle against the rocky ground, gardens open in narrow alleys.
About 300 inhabitants meet to play cards in the bar of Giuseppe or at the pension payment in the post office, at the weekly market on Wednesday, on Sunday at the church square.
The territory of the commune includes altitudes between 50 and 1480 m, with different vegetation zones that used to offer pastures to shepherds in all seasons.
A cul-de-sac, the so-called Tortorella - Mare, which is not listed on official maps, connects the town with the coast in 20 minutes by car.

Cancellation terms:
- You will be refunded half of the booking amount minus the cancellation fee, if you cancel the booking at least 7 days before the planned check-in until 12 o’clock midday CET (Central European time). For cancellations which are made less than 7 days before check-in there will be no refund.

You are welcome to help yourself in our vegetable garden, if you are interested we can arrange the products of our neighbours (eggs, ricotta, potatoes, chicken etc.)
A journey by car is absolutely recommendable, since there are no more bus connections at the moment
If you want to get involved in the praiseworthy experiment of a car-free holiday, for a small fee you can be picked up at the train station in Sapri, hike through the surrounding area and discuss shopping with us
Every year painting, ceramics and jewellery courses take place, as well as organized hiking weeks in small groups.
