Location and surroundings of object
The holiday apartments are located on the ground floor and on the first floor; in addition, we also have a guest room with a bathroom, also on the first floor. Everything can be rented together or separately. In the solid shed (see picture) there is a 60 m² art studio (ceramics and painting) with exhibition, health gymnastics for seniors under professional guidance in the large landscaped garden with 3,800 m², and breakfast or dinner in the garden (summer season) is possible on request. Three ponds (the largest 30 m long) in the landscaped garden and an open view of fields and forest behind the house create a pleasant place to linger. Among the animals we keep a gentle old German shepherd (Tosca vom Libellenteich), who will be seven years old on May 31, 2026, three lovable cuddly cats (Minka-Butchi, Tinka-Butchi, and the fat Berte-Butchi), dragonflies, frogs, and a turtle (European pond turtle). Grass snakes in and around the large pond, hedgehogs in the garden, fallow deer are in the nearby surroundings and sometimes you can even observe them from the window, the forest is rich in mushrooms and berries, parking spaces are available. The starry sky is magnificent due to the lack of light pollution when the sky is clear. Telescope and mirror for observing the planets and the moon are available. Childcare possible by the hour. German breakfast (toast, butter, jam, cold cuts, cheese, egg, coffee), if desired, also Anglicized (eggs with ham, hot sausage, toast, coffee or tea), also at a moderate price (10 euros). Small village (80 inhabitants) in the largest contiguous forest area of West Mecklenburg, 25-30 minutes by car to the castle in Schwerin and to the Schwerin Zoo, idyllically located between Ludwigslust (approx. 7 min. by train) and Hagenow (approx. 10 min. by train). Good rail connections to Neustrelitz, Waren, Parchim, Hamburg, Berlin, Schwerin. Motorway A 24, exit Ludwigslust/Schwerin or Hagenow approx. 15 min. by car. Baltic Sea and Wismar (World Heritage Site) 65 km by car, Redefin State Stud 20 km, Ludwigslust Palace and Natureum 15 km, Schwerin Palace and Zoo 30 km away, Lewitz and Friedrichsmoor Hunting Lodge 15 km, medieval castle Neustadt-Glewe 20 km away. Listed buildings in the village: Jasnitz Forestry Office, former inn "Zur Eiche" (House Zessin with the holiday apartments, picture 1, some of the former guests of this inn were "celebrities", such as the last Prussian Minister President; some of our visitors already are or may yet become celebrities).
Here, some "well-known" personalities stayed overnight (e.g. the medical technology manufacturer Dieter Kuntz, Los Angeles, USA, the dragonfly specialist and close friend of Mitsubishi Mister Yuichi Hatto, Osaka, Japan, the schnapps distiller and mountaineer Kostadin Strankoff, Kremen, Pirin, Bulgaria, the "Pope of Fossil Hymenoptera" and paleoentomologist Prof. Dr. Alexander Rasnitsyn, Moscow, Russia, the specialist for fossil Diptera Prof. Dr. Wieslaw Krzeminski, Krakow, Poland, the real estate agent, Mark Twain admirer and Wagner non-understander Erich Panik, Rostock, Germany and many others), the many (up until the 1970s), in the end tipsy and drunk visitors of the former inn "Zur Deutschen Eiche" shall not be listed here by name due to data protection and the sheer endless number of unknown and known names. In the last hundred years, and here in the Jasnitz Forest, Kaiser Wilhelm II, the brother of the Russian Tsar Alexander III, Grand Duke Vladimir, Count von Waldersee, Prince Reuss, Grand Duke Friedrich-Franz III, the last Prussian Prime Minister (we discreetly withhold the name), and other "notables" have already brought down the stag and sometimes missed as well. A few therefore survived and have multiplied! One or another hunter and visitor later shot quite a few bucks as well, about which we also remain discreetly silent!

additional information:
The house already housed a restaurant with guest rooms until the 1970s. In the Jasnitz forest there are red and fallow deer, there used to be brown bears, today there are only blueberries. Polar bears have not yet been sighted and are not expected for the time being until the next ice age, which is coming despite the current warming of the climate. In autumn many mushroom pickers come here, in the past when the restaurant in the house was still open and today the guests of our holiday flats and friends and relatives of the family also many mushroom drinkers. White-tailed eagles, black storks, woodcocks, common ravens, buzzards and kingfishers breed in the Jasnitz Forest. The butterfly species Swallowtail, Admiral and Greater Fox fly in the garden, in the summer of 2020 and 2021 many Diestel butterflies also flew (invasion after mass reproduction in Israel and the Mediterranean, 2022 probably not so far), there are stag beetles (rarely observed on oak trees in May/June), hero beetles (also only visible on the hatching holes of the oaks) and woodbucks in the forest (the latter already somewhat more common), adder and moor frog, formerly the Siberian iris and clubmoss (unfortunately not found again so far). At the Zessin house and in the garden in 2020/21, barn swallow, blackbird, house sparrow, tree sparrow, starling, great tit, blue tit, willow warbler, yellow warbler, garden warbler, blackcap and rufous warbler, chaffinch and greenfinch, redstart and house redstart, wagtail, flycatcher and wood pigeon were breeding. A few years ago we had up to ten House Martin nests on the house. Then there were fewer and fewer, and for about ten years they have been completely absent. The cause is certainly the monocultures of maize and rape, the use of insecticides in intensified agriculture. On warm summer evenings, fewer and fewer bats can be seen flying around the house, even though the formerly listed Jasnitz railway station was converted into a bat roost at great expense after demolition. In the marsh part, orchids (broad-leaved orchid) blossom in mid-May, at the large pond (approx. 300m2) the damselfly (now and then), the flat-bellied dragonfly, the Adonis and willow damselfly (also dragonflies), the four-spotted dragonfly, the blue-winged damselfly fly, and up above, black stork, red kite and white-tailed eagle, heath lark and skylark, oriole and raven fly now and then, to highlight just a few. Nevertheless, compared to other regions in Germany, we still have an interesting and rich natural heritage, e.g. the oldest Douglas fir in Mecklenburg or the primeval sequoia tree in our garden or other botanical treasures, which we will refrain from listing. You can discover them for yourself. Guided natural history tours (zoology, geology) are possible. Double star observation after copious consumption of Slibowitz, is guaranteed in the garden and even in the house, even without a visit to the observatory!
