The holiday home IL RIFUGIO is an independent, single-storey holiday home with a private pool on three sides for exclusive use. The house attached to IL RIFUGIO is not inhabited. Next door is the homeowner who respects your privacy. A man-high hedge separates the outside areas of the holiday home and the private home of the house owner. 2 double rooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and 1 living room offer comfortable space for 4 persons with small child. Comfortable, bright furnishings. Year of construction 2011, in 2018 the furnishing was completed. Approx. 2,000 sqm fenced olive grove. Internet access. 2 x SAT-TV. BBQ. Air conditioning in the bedrooms. Only small pets are allowed. From the communal entrance, a separate driveway below the owner's house leads to the IL RIFUGIO holiday home. A private parking place for your car is directly at the holiday house
Living room:
Very practical: From the pool terrace as well as from the barbecue terrace you enter the light-flooded, spacious and bright living room with SAT-TV. The high timbered wooden ceiling creates a cosy atmosphere up to the gable in South Tyrolean style. The walnut dining table, model "Rosa dei Venti", and the extraordinary chair from the "pezzi d´arte" series with high backrest are important and sought-after designs by the famous Italian sculptor Mario Ceroli. His works have already been exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and in the Vatican Museums. The precious furnishings also include a display case made of burl wood, originally from a pharmacy, around 1800, a low side table made of walnut root wood and 2 hand-painted antique wall plates (albissola). Very decorative and original at the same time is the reproduction of a medieval wooden monastery clock. When the weather is cooler, the fireplace provides cosy warmth
Kitchen:
From the living room you reach the open kitchen with exit to the barbecue terrace. The comfortable modern fitted kitchen has a high refrigerator with freezer, an oven at eye level, a 5-burner BOSCH gas stove with extractor fan, a dishwasher, a filter coffee machine, an espresso machine, a microwave oven and sufficient cooking utensils and crockery
Bedroom 1 with bathroom:
You have direct access to the pool from the light-flooded, pastel double room with SAT-TV. The honey-coloured parquet flooring, an innovatively designed walnut console and the high fully timbered wooden ceiling complement each other perfectly in tone. Cleverly mounted wall lights set special accents and put Vannucchi's pictures of the 4 seasons in the right light. The brand new en-suite bathroom is divided into 2 areas: in the anteroom is the washbasin, behind it is the bathroom with shower, bathtub, WC and bidet
Bedroom 2 with bathroom:
Also with parquet flooring and a high wooden ceiling is the double room, the coolest room, whose single beds can be arranged. From the bed you look into the greenery and at olive trees. The high-quality wardrobe with sideboard comes from the workshop of a local master carpenter. The collection is joined by a 1800s walnut root secretary, a chair from the "pezzi d´arte" series with a high backrest and a wooden chest "asso di fiori" from Mario Ceroli's Annabella series, as well as a tall turquoise chest of drawers with plenty of storage space. The bedroom has a separate brand new bathroom with shower, WC and bidet
Private pool:
It couldn't be more comfortable: "From bed to pool". The ground-floor private pool with interior lighting, which is only available to you, is located directly in front of the house. Its dimensions are: 9,50 m x 4,30 m, the depth ranges from 1,20 m to 1,50 m. A small brick staircase, a so-called "scala romana", leads comfortably into the pool. To provide even more privacy, in 2018, one side of the pool area adjacent to the homeowner's lounge was planted with tall laurel bushes. Barbecue terrace:
The fenced property with olive grove covers approx. 2,000 sqm. A treat for the eyes: from the barbecue terrace directly attached to the house you look into olive trees. Around it grows the typical reed grass of the area. A rustic seating group invites you to cosy and convivial barbecue evenings. During the day, a sun awning mounted on the holiday home provides shade. Behind the shady back of the holiday home overlooking the hill of Monsummano Alto the plot rises only slightly.

It couldn't be more comfortable: Due to its central location, you can reach the nearest town Monsummano Terme with all kinds of shops within 3 minutes by car. The first explorations in the surrounding area can be made on foot: Visit the weekly market on the market square of Monsummano Terme with the pilgrimage church Fontenuova. The thermal grotto "Grotta Giusti", the largest natural sweat grotto in Europe with an additionally equipped wellness facility and thermal pool, is approx. 900 m away. Treat yourself to your personal wellness pampering day here! From the holiday home, experienced hikers can reach the 320 m high hill of Monsummano Alto on foot, with a geological footpath at half height and shorter and longer footpaths, from Monsummano to Montevettolini. Other sports such as horse riding, mountain biking, paragliding, bog walking and golf can be found right on your doorstep. It is reassuring to know that in case of urgent questions you have the house owner in your vicinity, otherwise you enjoy your privacy!

Very nice relaxing holidays
Very nice house, good equipment, WiFi, air conditioning. Perfect!! It would be nice if there was a washing machine.
Large pool and surroundings. Our dogs were also welcome.

Great house, super amenities, and lovely landlord.
We enjoyed an extremely pleasant stay with a very kind landlord.
In the house, there was a beautifully filled fruit basket along with wine and lemonade as a welcome.
In the apartment, everything was very lovingly and stylishly prepared for us.
The furnishings of the apartment were better than we had ever experienced. Starting with super hand and bath towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, hairdryer, etc.
The bathrooms and the kitchen appeared very new and high-quality. The kitchen is also very well equipped.
The landlady responded to every request in no time and handled inquiries to our complete satisfaction.
I consider the price-performance ratio to be very good.
The location above Monsummano, surrounded by olive groves, is beautiful, and one enjoys a wide panoramic view. However, the walk from the center to the holiday home is tedious, especially in very warm weather.
We find Monsummano Terme itself to be less attractive. We will definitely come back!

Sehr schönes Haus
The house is very clean and very well furnished, nothing is missing. The coffee machine could be bigger. The location is optimal, even the criticized street is good, have had worse before. The outdoor area and pool could be more well-kept (sun umbrellas and lounge chairs).
Very nice, helpful, and friendly landlady. Otherwise, all in all top.

Almost perfect!
We had a very nice vacation here. The large, completely private pool is practically the focal point of the property, so we spent a lot of time here. The landlady (who lives in the neighboring house) is extremely discreet, and you are protected from prying eyes by a hedge.
For outdoor meals, there is a bench set under a retractable awning. However, these benches have reached the end of their service life and would need to be repaired or replaced soon.
On sunny days, it is somewhat difficult to escape the sun because the awning does not provide shade during the day. You have to continually move the umbrellas according to the sun.
The house itself is very high-quality. A large living room with an open kitchen, air conditioning, and a TV with German channels. The kitchen is fully equipped, and we didn't miss anything.
Since there were only two of us, we only used one bedroom. The air conditioning was also important to us here. We would like to highlight the beds, which were unusually stable and equipped with good mattresses (especially for us with some experience in Italy). The evening view of the Tuscan countryside is truly unique, and the sunset is almost ridiculously beautiful.
There are no real negatives. Well, of course, due to its location on the outskirts of the town, it is not really quiet in the evenings, and the annoying barking of dogs on the neighboring farms bothered us a bit, so we only give it 4 points for the location. And we have to mention the difficult driveway to the vacation home, which is really borderline. Cars with low suspension have no chance. And if it has rained heavily for a long time, even normal cars without all-wheel drive would have a hard time. In the dark, we didn't dare to drive away with the car anymore because we were afraid of slipping off the road. The landlords should and could improve this.

Update zur Zufahrt: ich habe heute, 04. Juni 2025, die Zufahrt zum Haus nochmals kontrolliert. Der Weg wurde komplett ausgebessert, das Haus ist mit jedem Wagen problemlos zu erreichen. Gabriele Corsten
