Größtenteils ein sehr schönes Ferienhaus
We stayed in the house with 4 adults and 4 children (1, 4, 4, and 8 years old). The space was sufficient for our vacation. We were greeted nicely. The equipment and the house are tidy and clean. Dryer and washing machine are also available. We were pleased to find some games, books, and a large box of building blocks and toys for the children in the house. The location of the house is very beautiful. 2 playgrounds and the forest can be reached within a minute's walk. The other half of the house is rented out to long-term tenants. They were quite nice. However, they made it clear that they do not want holiday guests and that the relationship between landlord and tenant is not good. The house is extremely noisy. The air in the large bedroom on the 1st floor is unfortunately extremely poor and stuffy. This is probably due to the damp wall there. All in all, except for a few minor things, we had a very nice holiday in this vacation home.

Holiday house in a very quiet location
We were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Gnacke and she showed us everything.
The house is located in a dead-end street in the middle of Altastenberg, unfortunately with no "panoramic view". There was nothing to complain about the equipment . . . there were even dishwasher tabs and coffee available. Mrs. Gnacke even provided towels for us, although they were not included. She also organized a daily bread delivery service from a local baker. It was great for us to have a bathroom with toilet on the ground floor as well as on the 1st floor. The house has 1 staircase or 2 staircases (if the attic room is also used). The bathroom on the ground floor is equipped with a walk-in shower, so a senior like my mother could comfortably place her shower stool without having to step up anywhere. It would be nice to have a shelf for shower necessities. The junior felt very comfortable in the attic room. Directly opposite is the guest house, where one can get lots of information about the surroundings or hiking tips. There, you can also play minigolf for free daily.
The house is perfect for unwinding and relaxing with a small terrace. You can start hiking right outside the front door. There are also shorter circular hiking trails... for example, the Flower Meadows Trail. It's just a stone's throw to the Schwedenhütte on foot. The bus stop in the town center is also not very far away. With the Sauerland Card, you can enjoy free bus rides if you don't want to walk back after a hike. In winter, there are ski slopes and cross-country trails directly in the village. We didn't test the local gastronomy in the village itself. Highly recommended for food or cake are: Bauer's Schänke in Ohlenbach (good & affordable, closed on Mondays), Hotel Restaurant Löffler in Silbach, Hotel Zur Post in Langewiese, Hochheide Hütte in Niedersfeld. You can drive up to 800 m and start great hikes from there.
For us, it was a few very relaxed days and we would always want to be guests of Mrs. Gnacke.
