LA CASA DELLA MADONNA is a unique gem in a dream location for individualists as well as connoisseurs and lovers of the fine arts.
CHIMNEY ROOM: Time seems to have stood still here: As soon as you step through the main entrance into the delicate yellow fireplace room with its low ceiling and heavy, mighty chestnut beams, you feel transported back in time. The furniture from the time the house was built, with the exception of the chairs, seems to capture the atmosphere of the past. Practical: The fireplace room has an additional exit at the back of the house, which leads to a terrace with barbecue. KITCHEN: To the right of the fireplace room is the kitchen. The kitchen passage ends at the top with an original cross beam made of "pietra serena", typical for these old farmhouses. The kitchen miracle: here you have everything "within reach" - in the white-yellow, in the Tuscan country house style furnished kitchen with low ceiling, which could come from a doll's house, even the smallest corner was cleverly used to accommodate all the necessary kitchen utensils: u. a. Coffee filter machine, 2 mochas (espresso coffee made on the stove), toaster, electric kettle, sufficient crockery and dishes, iron, ironing board, clothes horse, DeLonghi vacuum cleaner. Offer every comfort: 1 new Bosch washing machine and dishwasher, 1 new full-length fridge with freezer, 1 new porcelain sink based on an antique model, 1 new DeLonghi gas stove with oven and extractor hood, 2 new hanging cupboards in typical Tuscan style, 1 original antique hanging cupboard, which comes from a desecrated church and now serves as a practical spice cabinet, including 1 antique wooden table from the time with valuable red marble top as worktop, "rosso di Verona"´genannt, another marble worktop of this type fills the back corner of the kitchen. LIVING ROOM: To the left of the fireplace room is the colourful living room/TV room (SAT-TV) in delicate yellow tones with a new, timelessly elegant and made-to-measure suite (3-seater and 2-seater). In contrast, we have chosen a massive wooden table from the 2nd half of the 18th century. Eyecatcher is the television console hand-painted by the artist Simona Bonelli, whose interior doors depict Tuscan landscape motifs. A narrow wooden staircase, now secured with custom-made stylish wrought-iron decorations, has been partially renovated in style and leads up to the first floor in the narrow pale yellow hallway. Two original preserved steps from "pietra serena" still date from that time. The masterfully hand-painted bedroom doors by Simona Bonelli with Tuscan flower motifs and stone door frames create a very special atmosphere in the hallway. FIRST FLOOR: Just to the right of the stairs you enter the so-called "Rose Room", 1 of 2 double rooms. The wrought-iron bedstead with a new memory mattress for 2 persons dating from that time is striking. The hand-painted rose medallion comes from Simona Bonelli. The "floating" wall consoles to the left and right of the bed were created by a professional master carpenter using antique solid wood in a masterly manner. The hand-painted wardrobe was also created by Simona Bonelli and fits in the style of the antique precious mirror chest of drawers. Three rare coat hangers from the beginning of the 19th century are decorative accessories. From the smaller window on the west side you have an overwhelming view of the surrounding hills, the valley depression up to the Pisan mountains, you look down on the panorama terrace and in the olive grove. From the bed you can even catch the sunset between the hills. Every morning the very elaborately renovated bathroom with shower in wellness style, very high quality WC, bidet, marble elements and washbasin with underneath attached hanging cabinet and pull-out drawers guarantees a good mood. The shower base and a niche in the shower have a pebble look. You shower with your own spring water! The Pinocchio room, a single room, with dark heavy chestnut beams, shines in friendly sepia/pricot colours. The Tromp-l´oeil room at the end of the corridor is the second double room and the coolest of all due to its location and refreshing typical blue tones. The highlight of the whole house is probably the almost floor-to-ceiling wall painting in Tromp-l´oeil manner by Simona Bonelli, which represents a fictitious Tuscan landscape. Below it, in the floor, there is a larger rocky promontory, which remained undiscovered for decades. A rare piece of jewellery is the hand-painted wardrobe from northern Tuscany, built around 1850.

The famous hill villages of the valley "Valdinievole" like Montecatini Alto, Monsummano Alto, Massa e Cozzile, Colle di Buggiano and Buggiano Castello are at your feet. On a clear day you can even see the ski area of Tuscany in the "Apennino Pistoiese" with the ski resort Abetone. SPECIALITY: Once a refuge for partisans in the 1st and 2nd World Wars, this typical Tuscan farmhouse is today a holiday paradise for Tuscany holidaymakers who seek peace and relaxation in the midst of nature. The current owner acquired this Rustico in 2017 and under the direction of the agency owner of Residenze Toscane, Mrs. Gabriele Corsten, herself a passionate art and antique expert, was after extensive renovation work in 2017 and 2018, without cost, time and effort to spare, this unique gem revived to new life. Mrs. Corsten herself meticulously took care of the complete redesign of the interior, which was partly made to measure, for almost 1 year: Furniture for all bedrooms and living or fireplace rooms, complete bathroom equipment, kitchen equipment, partly antique and made to measure and handcrafted lighting fixtures, colour wall design, all living accessories as well as motif selection for the hand paintings. Even the smallest detail has not been left to chance. Not easy to find: Some of the precious furnishings date from the time when the house was built, around 1850, and earlier, which was gathered in months of research from all parts of Tuscany and now, in harmonious harmony with the rest of the furnishings, revives the very special rustic flair of once - elegant and rustic at the same time. In order to give the whole thing an unmistakable touch, 4 Tuscan craftsmen were commissioned: including the artist Simona Bonelli, originally from Milan, who was entrusted with the artistic design of the room doors and many furnishings. Her works have already been published in the "Architectural Digest". In close collaboration with the owner of the agency, the motifs and colours were meticulously matched to the rest of the furnishings and real masterpieces were created under the hand of Simona Bonelli. With the exception of the kitchen and the bathroom, the approx. 200 year old original cotto floor and the heavy chestnut wooden ceiling beams have been completely preserved throughout the house and therefore nothing of the authentic character of this house is lost. Also characteristic of this house: in the kitchen, in the fireplace and in the living room and in one of the double rooms, here and there a few rocky outcrops were visible from the floor along the walls: a sign that this house was built on a rock.
NOTE TO ACCESSORIES: To the holiday home you drive approx. 3 km up an initially steep, asphalted, winding hill road, the last meters of the way are vehicle wide and somewhat uneven. There are alternatives. Not suitable for cars with trailers, larger vans, sports or lowered cars. Excellent motorway access (A 11 Firenze-Mare) in Montecatini Terme to reach the classic excursion destinations such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca The name LA CASA DELLA MADONNA is intended to commemorate a frescoed image of Mary with Child, which was attributed various miraculous events in the 16th century and is still preserved today in the Fontenuova Sanctuary in Monsummano Terme. You can purchase the particularly delicious and digestible olive oil of LA CASA DELLA MADONNA from the house owner. Due to the location of the cultivation area and the quality of the olive variety "Frantoio", one obtains an olive oil "extravergine" with very low acidity and is therefore in secret circles already traded as a medicine! OUTDOOR AREA: From the "piazzale" in front of the house you reach the private, secluded and oval panoramic pool with outdoor shower (approx. 8 x 4 m, m deep, open from the beginning of May to the end of September) via a small staircase and a short plated footbridge. The pool is half built into the ground and borders on one side directly on a large secluded sun terrace from which you can comfortably step into the pool. One with nature: the silence, the pure air and the unique view of the surrounding hills from the pool terrace paved with natural stones is a real refreshment and lets you forget your everyday life. Around the pool, the owner has created a small lawn fenced in where the 5,000 sqm olive grove runs steeply downwards. The flatter plot to the left of the pool has been purchased and is also available to our guests. Here everyone will find his "secret favorite corner". From the PANORAMATERRASSE, which is directly attached to the house, you reach the cool and shady back of the house with barbecue through a small gate. The landmark of the house is the Madonna in terracotta, for which a small "grotto" was specially created.

Beautiful holiday days in the holiday home La Casa della Madonna
We spent beautiful holiday days in the holiday home, unique location with a very well-maintained pool, from which one could enjoy the spectacular view into the valley. The surroundings of the holiday home are meticulously maintained down to the smallest detail, and everything in the holiday home is super clean and fully equipped for a carefree stay. A quiet paradise, perfect for relaxing and recovering in absolute silence, surrounded by green olive trees. We were warmly welcomed by Ms. Corsten and the owners Laura and Guiseppe; all formalities went smoothly from the first contact to the farewell. After the first exciting drive to the holiday home, we were fascinated by this amazing, unique place, from which one has an incredible view of the hills and mountains of Tuscany from various terraces at any time of day. Watching the play of clouds during the day, discovering a rainbow, following the sunset in the evening, and looking at the glittering lights of the cities in the valley. There are many ways to explore cities, go swimming in the sea, but also spend relaxed days by the pool of the holiday home. We felt very comfortable and give a clear recommendation for the holiday home La Casa della Madonna.

3-generation vacation with dog?
We spent 3 wonderful weeks here. We were 4 adults, 1 child, and a Golden Retriever. We couldn't imagine the vastness of the property until we were on-site ourselves. Pool, yard, and a whole olive grove, fully fenced and just for us. 2 terraces, one of which is always in the shade, a dreamlike view of Montecatini – we couldn't get enough of it. The refreshing and well-maintained pool was just right for a 9-year-old. She could still stand and was hardly to be gotten out of the water. The wonderful air conditioning in 2 of the bedrooms also invited for a little siesta during the day. The great heat meant that we couldn't use the small room at first – but parents and child just snuggled a bit together, the bed in the 1st bedroom was big enough. Only in the last week of our vacation did we explore the area, took the cable car, went for evening strolls in Montecatini Terme, visited markets, and made use of the good connection to the dog beach in Livorno.
The charmingly designed house invited us to linger. The small, well-equipped kitchen had new appliances. The modern renovated, tasteful bathroom with the wonderful rain shower handled the demands of 5 people without complaint. One only had to coordinate well.
We felt very well taken care of by the landlords and Mrs. Corsten. The highlight was a large-scale dinner invitation to a traditional restaurant. That was very entertaining and above all delicious. Giuseppe and his wife were very warm-hearted. We were also regularly supplied with olive oil, plums, croissants, and Prosecco for the rest of the time. The garbage was also regularly picked up by him, and when a small technical problem arose, we were all immediately helped. At farewell, there were hot tears and the wish, we all agreed, to come back here once again. We still have much to discover.

Für alle weiteren Interessenten/Mitleser noch eine Bemerkung zum „kleinen Zimmer“, dem Einzelzimmer (Pinocchio-Zimmer): In diesem Zimmer fehlt die Klima-Anlage, da der Hauseigentümer hierfür keine Genehmigung erhalten hat. Die Anbringung einer Klima-Anlage hätte in diesem Fall die Zerstörung der Front-Fassade zur Folge gehabt. Bei den Klima-Anlagen in den beiden Doppelzimmern lag der Fall anders und konnten/durften Gott sei Dank installiert werden.

Beautiful
We were with 2 teenagers for 2 weeks in the Casa della Madonna. The holiday home is located on a hill, accessible via a steep, partly very narrow road, but this was not a problem thanks to little traffic and enough passing options. The house is definitely worth the drive! Absolutely quiet, with a wonderful view of the valley over Montecatini-Terme and Alto. It has been lovingly renovated, and the furnishings have been tastefully selected; the equipment leaves nothing to be desired, as everything we needed for cooking was there. The house and pool are spotlessly clean and well-maintained. We were very warmly welcomed by Ms. Corsten and the landlords Giuseppe and Laura; when Giuseppe came for pool maintenance, he was always open for a chat and gave us tips for excursions, etc. Lucca, Pisa, Pistoia, Florence, etc. are easily accessible and it's not far to the sea. You can wonderfully relax by the pool or on the terrace afterwards and enjoy the evening while looking at the stars or the valley filled with lights. If you’re lucky, a badger will visit the olive grove in the evenings – we have seen it a few times. Overall: absolute recommendation for the Casa della Madonna!
