We built the guesthouse new in 2018/19. In doing so, we tried to combine the old Azorean architectural style with the requirements of a modern holiday home.
The 61 m² living space unites two twin bedrooms, a living room with an open modern kitchen, and a fireplace for the cold season. A large shower bathroom and a utility room complete the house. An extra bed is possible in one bedroom (bunk bed). On the 40 m² partially covered and shaded terrace, you can truly relax and unwind. Right next to the terrace, you’ll find an outdoor shower for rinsing off salt after swimming or simply to cool down.
Since September 2025, a sauna has been part of the guesthouse. This barrel sauna is located directly next to the house. Is there anything better than looking out at Pico and the Atlantic while enjoying the sauna? The sauna is available for free use. For your sauna sessions, would you like a specific color tone for the interior lighting? No problem, you can choose the lighting freely. You can select your sauna infusion from a variety of scents, and of course, you will also receive a large sauna towel and the appropriate sauna clothing.
What else is missing for a perfect wellness experience? Of course, a professional relaxation massage. Talk to us about it and we will organize the perfect massage. You will be thrilled!

We live on the beautiful island of São Jorge. This island is located in the Central Group and belongs to the "Triângulo".
The beautiful village of Urzelina is located on the preferred south coast of the island and is only a few kilometers from the airport and the ferry port in Velas.
Only 50 meters from the sea is the guest house "Azores House on the Atlantic Ocean"
From here you can hear the sound of the sea all day long, the whistling of the wind or the thunder of the breakers against the rock walls when there is a storm

Cancellation terms:

Our service for you
We want you to feel comfortable with us and to remember your "vacation in paradise" for a long time.
We, as your landlords, live in the neighborhood of your vacation home. So we are at your disposal with words and deeds during the planning and during your stay with us.
No matter when you will reach our island, we will be on time at the airport or the ferry to pick you up. In the same way we will accompany you to your departure.
In your vacation home a small food basket will be waiting for you, so that you don't have to rush to the supermarket immediately after your arrival
If you do not rent your car at your arrival, we will drive you to the appropriate station.
If you want to hike and you don't know how to get to the starting point or destination, just ask us.

Dreamy days
The house is modern and well equipped. Everything you need for cooking, sleeping and feeling comfortable is available. The hosts live next door and provide support and advice. The welcome basket with food and wine for the first meal was great, so even if you arrive late, you are taken care of. The view of the sea with the best observation spots for dolphins, whales and birds is enjoyable. Especially at sunset, relaxation with a view of Pico is on the agenda here. Restaurants and mini-markets are within walking distance. A beach promenade and a swimming spot are right outside the door. With a car, all important points on the island are accessible. The boat trip with Dirk off the coast was also great - also possible for anglers. The accommodation is suitable for active vacationers as well as for resting. We would love to come back.

Azorenhaus - Feel-good house
Fantastic location, with a view of the Atlantic and Pico. We could even spot dolphins and pilot whales from the garden. Stylish and very well-equipped. Bright and friendly, just right for feeling comfortable. A bathing area is located right below the property. Dirk and Ulrike are very lovely and extremely helpful owners. The fishing trip was also a successful and unforgettable experience. Thank you very much for the wonderful time! Jürgen and Katja

"Welcome to paradise..."
This is not exaggerated. One would rather not leave. The unique location with the dream view of the sea is reason enough.
The house itself is top equipped and well thought out as we have rarely experienced.
We would love to come back.

A dream
Everything about this holiday home is just perfect: the location, the house, the facilities, the hosts
The house is located directly on the sea, on the most beautiful part of the coast of São Jorge. From the covered terrace (so you can sit outside even when it's raining) or the bench in the garden, you have such a magnificent view of the sea that you don't want to go to sleep at night! The house has everything you need and more, even an expresso machine with coffee pods. On arrival, a basket with all kinds of delicacies from the island and Ulrike and Dirk's warmth (Chicca's, Otto's and Emma's too, of course!) awaited us. And that was almost the best part - what these two do goes far beyond hospitality, we were very happy to have met you, the short insights into your lives impressed us very much and made us "envious" in a positive sense, how nice to meet such happy people - it's contagious :-)
So 5 stars are really too few here, we hope very much to be allowed to come again!

Das Haus selbst ist top ausgestattet und durchdacht wie wir es selten erlebt haben.
Wir kommen gerne wieder.
Das Haus liegt direkt am Meer, am schönsten Küstenabschnitt São Jorges, von der überdachten Terrasse (also auch bei Regen draussen sitzten) oder der Bank im Garten hat man einen so grandiosen Blick aufs Meer dass man abends gar nicht schlafen gehen möchte! Im Haus gibt es einfach alles was man braucht und noch mehr, sogar eine 1A Expressomaschine mit den dazugehörigen Kaffepads. Bei Ankunft erwartet uns ein Korb mit allerlei Köstlichkeiten von der Insel und Ulrike und Dirks herzlichkeit (der von Chicca, Otto und Emma natürlich auch!). Und das war fast das schönste - was die Beiden da machen geht weit über Gastfreundschaft hinaus, wir haben uns sehr gefreut Euch kennen gelernt zu haben, die kurzen Einblicke in Euer Leben haben uns sehr beeindruckt und im positiven Sinne "neidisch" gemacht, wie schön so zufriedenen Menschen zu begegnen - das steckt an :-)
Also 5 Sterne sind hier wirklich noch zu wenig, wir hoffen sehr wieder kommen zu dürfen!
Der Blick ist einmalig, die Gastgeber so freundlich und einfach herzlich ❤️

Vielen Dank, dass wir bei euch dieses wunderschöne Haus mieten konnten und für 14 Tage das Leben auf eurer Insel miterleben konnten.
Die Ankunft auf Sao Jorge ist eine Vollbremsung aus dem Arbeitsalltag, kein Stress und keine Hektik und wenn dann ist höchstens das ansteckend. Und das alles ohne Touristen. Nur 8.500 Menschen und mindestens doppelt so viele Kühe, da begegnet man auf einer Wanderung auch eher den Kühen als Menschen.
Was die Beiden sich da geschaffen haben ist großartig. Jeder Blick auf den Atlantik ist zu genießen und jeden Tag ist dieser Blick anders. Die exzellente Ausführung und Umsetzung des Baus, die überkomplette Ausstattung und die Lage sind besonders. Man hört nachts die Wellen rauschen.
Nach Besuchen in 2013; 2014; 2015,2016, 2017 und 2019 haben wir dieses Jahr wohl einen besonderen Höhepunkt erleben dürfen. Nach vielen administrativen Vorbereitungen hat es geklappt, dass wir uns bei den Beiden auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf den Pico und herrlichem Sonnenschein Trauen lassen. Ihr habt es zu etwas besonderem gemacht.
Ein weiteres Mal herzlichen Dank für die Zeit bei Euch!!! Wir haben es wie jedes Mal genossen und werden wieder kommen. Liebe Grüße Familie E.
Das Ferienhaus ist modern und komfortabel ausgestattet. Es hat alles, was man für einen Ferienaufenthalt benötigt:Geschirrspüler, Waschmaschine, Mikrowelle, Backofen, usw. Ein großzügiges, modernes Bad und eine tolle Aussendusche.
Ulrike und Dirk sind liebenswerte und freundliche Gastgeber, die einem wertvolle Tipps für Aktivitäten geben.
Dies wird nicht unser letzter Urlaub dort gewesen sein.

Das Ferienhaus mit seiner gefühlvollen Topausstattung und die wunderschöne Lage direkt am Meer lässt wirklich keine Wünsche offen.
Und wenn man dann noch bei einer Bootstour mit Dirk von einer großen Delphinegruppe begleitet wird , dann muss man einfach von einem Traumurlaub sprechen.
Naja, und die beiden Border Collies Chica und Otto vermissen wir schon jetzt.

Quant à la maison, tout y est: Un très joli cadre, une belle terrasse pour en profiter pleinement, un intérieur fonctionnel et joliment arrangé.
Nous avons passé d’excellents moments à randonnée alentours, faire du bateau, déguster les bons produits de la région…
En résumé, un endroit à ne pas manquer!
Ulrike und Dirk mit ihrer großen Gastfreundschaft,
ihrem liebevoll eingerichteten Ferienhaus, in dem man sich 100 % wohl fühlt,
dem grandiosen Meerblick von der Terrasse des Hauses,
der nur 2 Minuten entfernten, sehr schönen Badestelle,
den sehr freundlichen Inselbewohnern,
der gesamten sehr ursprünglichen und naturbelassenen Insel São Jorge
und natürlich auch den beiden intelligenten Hunden unserer Gastgeber, die man einfach gern haben muss.
Das Ferienhaus ist modern eingerichtet und hat alles, was man braucht. Selber kochen oder auch draußen grillen gehen dank der guten Ausstattung super. Aber auch die nächsten Restaurants sind nicht sehr weit. Die zusätzliche Außendusche ist der Hit, nach einer ausgedehnten Wanderung die wahre Wohltat! Genauso, wie die guten Matratzen in den Betten.
Rund um die Unterkunft ist es sehr ruhig, man kann andächtig dem Meeresrauschen oder den vielen Vögeln lauschen. Die Straße zum Naturpool ist kaum befahren.
Die Gastgeber Ulrike und Dirk geben viele Tipps zur Erkundung der Insel, bieten zusätzlich Boots- und Angeltouren an und bringen ihre wanderfreudigen Gäste auch gerne zu den Starts von Streckenwanderungen.

Und dann die Lage! Ein Traum! Direkt am Meer vor diesem wunderschönen Naturbad. Vormittags hatten wir es für uns allein und ab 20 Uhr konnten wir in aller Ruhe diese schöne Badebucht für uns allein genießen.
Wir haben diese Ruhe genossen und natürlich diesen traumhaften Blick aufs Meer und auf den Pico.
Nicht wie in einer Hotelanlage, kommt man hier mit den freundlichen Einheimischen problemlos in Kontakt. Einfach dazu am Abend in den Hafen von Urzelina gehen.
Wenn wir könnten, wir würden 10* vergeben. Wir kommen wieder, auf jeden Fall.
Hierhin kann man mit kleinem Gepäck reisen, da Waschmaschine und Trockner vorhanden sind. Weiterhin fanden wir es gut, dass für einen kleinen Einkauf auch ein Geschäft im Ort vorhanden ist und außerdem die Möglichkeit besteht mal essen zu gehen, wenn man nicht immer Lust auf das Kochen hat.
Wir haben die Möglichkeit gehabt, die vielfältige Natur und die Insel ausgiebig kennenzulernen. Beispiele: Vulkankegel auf 1000 m Höhe, kleine Fajas an der Küste, einen ehemaligen Walfangturm an der westlichen Spitze der Insel, einen wundervollen Park, der von den ehemaligen Emigrates gepflegt wird.
Sehr angenehm empfanden wir die immer netten, hilfsbereiten und freundlichen Menschen.
Hier kann man den Urlaub in vollen Zügen genießen und sich erholen. Wir werden sicher wiederkommen.
