the holiday was super !!!!!!

The island is very beautiful. I had a lot of fun fishing despite the waves. Driving Buggi was great. THANK YOU. The private room was cool and when it rained there was good wifi and Netflix. What more could you want ?????

our best holiday

Everything was as described on the website, only better. A holiday far away from home, in the middle of the Atlantic, where the world is still in order, the landscape and the weather leave you speechless and the people are friendly to each other. Everything is like paradise. You have to be there at least once.
Thank you so much that we were able to rent this beautiful house from you and experience life on your island for 14 days.

Dream holiday

The small island of Sao Jorge was our destination. The off-season arrival and departure is a bit different than to the tourist strongholds. But that's not where we wanted to go! So the stopover and ferry crossing were very welcome and already part of the holiday. And then the incredibly beautiful, diverse, green, misty, sunny and enchanting island with its friendly and lovely people. We enjoyed every day for a short 2 weeks. Experienced the island "and of course hiked it. We bathed at the end of November, picked flowers and exotic fruits and experienced spectacular sunsets almost every evening at a different place. Add a Portuguese wine and the unique cheese of Sao Jorge, what more could you want! But there was more. A very beautiful house with facilities that leave nothing to be desired and all this in an indescribably beautiful place. And of course you, Ulrike and Dirk! You live hospitality in the very best sense. Thank you again! And Chica and Otto have become my friends, although I was not a great dog lover until then because of bad experiences. We will be back!

If you are looking for silence and relaxation - you will find it here!

SUPER, unfortunately AWESOME ;-)) ! Very nice hostel parents, who help with words and deeds to find your way around the island, to excursion destinations on the island etc. (the dogs Chica and Otto provide - if you want - for fun). Best equipment to ensure self-sufficiency with local products (fridge, microwave, oven, cooker, grill, household dishes). Actually, clothes in hand luggage are enough, the washing machine makes it possible. Various possibilities for active recreation, best the "Kaiserbad" after 2 minutes walk or during excursions "around the island" to great places/ island-typical fajas and bathing possibilities. But also just lie on the terrace and let your soul dangle - everything can, nothing must. Arrival and departure are ideal for discovering Lisbon or other Azores islands (Cafe Peter in Horta - a "must have").

What a spectacular view

Sitting on the terrace with a coffee and looking out over the Atlantic to Pico, not only this magnificent view will make our vacation on Sao Jõrge unforgettable. The location of the vacation home is perfect. Right by the water with a few steps to the nearest bathing spot. It is quiet and yet restaurants and a supermarket can be reached with a short walk.
The vacation home is modern and comfortably equipped. It has everything you need for a vacation stay: dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven, etc. A spacious, modern bathroom and a great outdoor shower.
Ulrike and Dirk are lovely and friendly hosts who provide valuable tips for activities.
This will not be our last vacation there.

Extraordinary / Dreamlike

Back home, the melancholy is still great, the memories still fresh and the photos far from sorted. You just have to love this island. This is the second time we have been to Sao Jorge. Of course also because of Ulrike and Dirk, but also because of Sao Jorge .... and because Edda wanted to see Chica ;)

Arriving on Sao Jorge is a complete break from the daily work routine, no stress and no hustle and bustle, and if anything, it's contagious. And all that without tourists. Only 8,500 people and at least twice as many cows, so you are more likely to meet cows than people on a hike

What the two have created there is magnificent. Every view of the Atlantic is to be enjoyed and every day this view is different. The excellent execution and implementation of the construction, the over-complete equipment and the location are special. You can hear the waves crashing at night

After visits in 2013; 2014; 2015,2016, 2017 and 2019, we must have had a special highlight this year. After many administrative preparations, we were able to get married on their terrace with a view of Pico and glorious sunshine. You made it something special.

Traumhafter Urlaub

One week has passed and . . . it was unfortunately much too short. São Jorge is a dream island in the middle of the Atlantic, and when Dirk and Ulrike showed us "their" island through their eyes, we understand that this is what paradise looks like. In addition, the wealth of information about the incredibly friendly people and their way of life, which you won't find in any guidebook, makes the island incredibly appealing. The holiday home with its tasteful top equipment and the beautiful location right by the sea truly leaves nothing to be desired. And if you are also accompanied by a large group of dolphins on a boat tour with Dirk, then you just have to talk about a dream vacation.

Well, and we already miss the two Border Collies Chica and Otto.

This (too short) stay on the island of Sao Jorge at Ulrike and Dirk's house allowed us to meet this very welcoming and available host couple with whom we had pleasant moments. As for the house, everything is there: A very nice setting, a beautiful terrace to enjoy it fully, a functional and nicely arranged interior. We had a great time hiking around, boating, and tasting local products... In summary, a place not to be missed!

Fantastic holiday home - great and helpful hosts

We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday thanks to:

Ulrike and Dirk with their great hospitality,
their lovingly furnished holiday home where you feel 100% comfortable,
the magnificent sea view from the house's terrace,
the very beautiful bathing spot just 2 minutes away,
the very friendly islanders,
the entire very original and natural island of São Jorge
and of course also the two intelligent dogs of our hosts, whom you simply have to love. The holiday home is modernly furnished and has everything you need. Cooking yourself or going outside to grill is great thanks to the good equipment. But the nearest restaurants are also not very far. The additional outdoor shower is a hit, a true delight after an extensive hike! Just like the good mattresses in the beds.

Around the accommodation it is very quiet, you can attentively listen to the sound of the sea or the many birds. The road to the natural pool is rarely traveled.

The hosts Ulrike and Dirk provide many tips for exploring the island, also offer boat and fishing tours, and are happy to take their hiking guests to the starting points of hiking trails.

Best vacation home so far!

We have already had some experience with vacation homes, but this was the most beautiful and best equipped vacation home we have had so far. Designed down to the smallest detail with a lot of love.
And then the location! A dream! Right by the sea in front of this beautiful natural pool. In the mornings we had it all to ourselves and from 8 pm we could enjoy this beautiful bathing bay all to ourselves in peace and quiet.
We enjoyed this peace and of course the fantastic view of the sea and Pico.
Unlike in a hotel complex, it is easy to get in touch with the friendly locals here. Just go to the port of Urzelina in the evening.
If we could, we would give it 10 stars. We will definitely come back.

Dream house by the sea.

We would like to thank our hosts very much for the warm welcome and care in the guesthouse. The house is fully equipped for a holiday with all conceivable possibilities. We did not miss anything. Some examples: a lovingly equipped kitchen, hot and cold water at all times, important for the environment: biological sewage treatment system and waste collection, possibility to shower outdoors as well. For a holiday, very important: a large covered terrace with seating and sun loungers. From the terrace, you have a spectacular view of the Atlantic and the neighboring island of Pico. We found the amenities with WLAN very pleasant. This way, we could send and receive messages home at any time. You can travel here with light luggage, as a washing machine and dryer are available. We also found it good that there is a shop in the village for small purchases and also the opportunity to go out to eat when you don't always feel like cooking. We had the opportunity to explore the diverse nature and the island extensively. Examples: volcanic cones at 1000 meters altitude, small fajas on the coast, a former whale hunting tower at the western tip of the island, a wonderful park maintained by former emigrants. We found the people always nice, helpful, and friendly. Here you can enjoy your vacation to the full and relax. We will definitely come back.

Relaxation with a view of the sea!

A dreamy view from the terrace over the sea to Pico, the bathing bay 2 minutes away on foot, high-quality furnishings, and a welcome basket upon guests' arrival... Relaxation is guaranteed from the first minute! The owners are on hand with advice and assistance, whether as island guides or skippers for boat or fishing trips. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our time.
