Suhl on the Rennsteig is an old city, founded by the Celts around 500 BC. Ore mining and iron processing were the main products from the beginning, which helped the city prosper. By the 16th century at the latest, Suhl was famous as the "Armory of Europe" and is still known today as the "City of Arms." Nowadays, Suhl mainly produces hunting and sports weapons of world renown. Do not miss the Suhl Weapons Museum located in the beautiful half-timbered house "Alter Malzhaus," one of Germany's most important specialty museums. The city's attractions include many magnificent half-timbered houses, giving Suhl an idyllic cityscape.
