First time in Hungary and super surprised.
The communication with Mr. Cserno was excellent. He gave lots of tips on what to see and
and he was always available if you had any other questions. Even my pets were accepted. The flats were in top condition. Very spacious, spotless. The location of the house is really close to Lake Balaton. We felt very comfortable there.

At Lake Balaton, known as "Plattensee" in German, you can enjoy the full range of Hungarian cuisine, enhanced by the lake's freshly caught fish. A delicacy is the freshly prepared pike-perch fillet, known as "fogas," closely followed by catfish and carp prepared "Hungarian style" with mushrooms, bacon, and bell peppers, or with sauerkraut. A real treat is the meat from traditional Hungarian Grey cattle or Mangalica pigs raised in pasture-based systems! Goulash, known in Hungarian as "gulyás," is undoubtedly the most Hungarian of all specialties, often listed on menus as "Pörkölt" and also available as goulash soup. Another traditional dish is "Paprikahuhn," chicken prepared in various ways with paprika. In autumn, more traditional culinary specialties appear on menus and markets, including incredibly delicious and diverse game dishes and mushrooms – all fresh from the nearby Hungarian forests. If you're on the go, try "Langós," a flatbread with garlic cream.

The city's landmark is the 45-meter-tall historic water tower, which is accessible and offers a beautiful view. Also worth seeing are the old harbor area and the meteorological observatory. A MUST-DO is a trip to the historically interesting northern shore of Lake Balaton to Tihany, Balatonalmádi, or to the thermal springs of Balatonfüred.
