Fancy a change from the sea? Roquetas de Mar is home to one of the largest shopping centers in the province. In the small neighboring village of Enix, you will find the dreamy Playa del Palmer. The nearly 2,000-hectare nature reserve Punta Entinas-Sabinar is also located in the municipal areas of Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido. In this fantastic hiking area, you can observe numerous nesting flamingos in the summer. The ruins of the former defensive tower Torre de Cerrillos is one of the most significant sights for holidaymakers with a holiday home or apartment. Equally impressive is the approximately 100-hectare coral reef Barrera de Posidonia off the coast, where divers will have a great time. A popular excursion destination is the repeatedly renovated fortress Castillo de Santa Ana, built directly next to the port facility.
