The location in Andalusia ensures plenty of sunshine and warm air flowing in from Africa. The annual average temperature is 19 degrees Celsius. If you don't tolerate heat well, you should visit the city and the region in March, April, or again from October. This is also a great time for a holiday with your dog on the Costa Almería.

Main courses are served without large side dishes, and olive oil is rarely missing. Dinner for the locals starts at the earliest at 9:00 pm. Together with Mojácar, Carboneras, and Vera, Roquetas is one of the essential tourist destinations on the Costa de Almería. In Roquetas, you can choose from various long sandy beaches for the whole family: Playa Serena, de Aguadulce, de El Rompillo, de La Romanilla, de La Bajadilla, de Las Salinas, and de Urbanización. Fancy a change from the sea? Roquetas de Mar is home to one of the largest shopping centers in the province. In the small neighboring village of Enix, you will find the dreamy Playa del Palmer. The nearly 2,000-hectare nature reserve Punta Entinas-Sabinar is also located in the municipal areas of Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido. In this fantastic hiking area, you can observe numerous nesting flamingos in the summer. The ruins of the former defensive tower Torre de Cerrillos is one of the most significant sights for holidaymakers with a holiday home or apartment. Equally impressive is the approximately 100-hectare coral reef Barrera de Posidonia off the coast, where divers will have a great time. A popular excursion destination is the repeatedly renovated fortress Castillo de Santa Ana, built directly next to the port facility. The city museum is also located there, and interesting cultural events take place.
