Liked that the toaster worked immediately and garden chairs on the terrace offered comfortable spots to rest in the afternoon. Kitchen included stove, fridge, and coffee machine all functioning well.

We had a lovely time in this apartment, The terrace was a great place for morning coffee, It is very close to Limburg, which was perfect for our little day trips, The kitchen had everything we needed, The only downside was the situation of the separate room, but it worked well for us

Which sights are there in Odenwald?

Attractions in Baden-Württemberg

From your private accommodation in a cozy vacation home in nature, embark on a journey of discovery to the historic castles and fortresses in the Odenwald. When sightseeing in Heidelberg, the castle is an absolute highlight. The well-maintained old town invites you to a relaxed stroll with its many small alleys and impressive bridges. Take a trip to Frankenstein Castle in Mühltal, to Erbach Castle with its extensive collection of antiques and hunting trophies, and to Fürstenau Castle in Michelstadt near Mossautal. The Fürstenau Castle consists of several buildings in the Renaissance style, forming a charming ensemble with the outer bailey, mill, orangery, and castle garden. Neckarsteinach boasts four castles. One of the most beautiful is the Swallow's Nest, a medieval ruin on a hillside. From your apartment in Grasellenbach, explore tourist natural attractions like the Felsenmeer, the dripstone cave, the low mountain range in general, and the Bergstraße Castle Trail. How about a hike on one of the beautiful hiking trails or a trip to the city?

What do you need to experience in Odenwald?

Highlights for Your Stay in the Odenwald

Use your vacation in your Odenwald apartment in Bensheim, the Neckar Valley, or Darmstadt to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Messel Pit. The Messel Pit is a disused open-pit mine where oil shale was once extracted. The unique quality of the fossils found in the shale layers from the Eocene is unparalleled worldwide. Key finds include several specimens of horse-like Propalaeotherium and Eurohippus, crane birds, insects, and plants. Further archaeological finds can be admired in the English Garden at Eulbach. Here, finds from the Roman era from the surrounding area have been collected and integrated into a harmonious park ensemble. The park was established in the 19th century. For pure relaxation, visit the Odenwald Therme in the thermal spa town of Bad König. The healing thermal water for the pools and treatments comes from an underground source at a depth of 300 meters. Every year, just in time for Halloween, a large festival with costumes and music takes place at Frankenstein Castle. It is the largest Halloween festival in Germany. Those interested in dragons and other mythical creatures will find the Dragon Museum in Lindenfels to be a great destination.

Enjoying Odenwald Specialties

The cuisine in Hesse is characterized by regional products. Don't miss the fine apple wine and try the delicious cooked cheese and hand cheese, often served with onions. Whether you cook in your vacation accommodation or visit local eateries or those in the old town, the lovingly prepared baked goods, dairy products, and fruits and vegetables from the surrounding farms promise perfect enjoyment. Hearty sausage and smoked ham are part of a delicious butcher's platter. The hunts provide game meat from deer, stag, and wild boar. Along the hikes by the Neckar and in the city, you'll find inviting beer gardens, country inns, and bakeries with catering. Perhaps early in the morning, the scent of freshly baked bread will waft into your bedroom - then quickly head to the baker and set the breakfast table!

Odenwald Art and Culture

In addition to the many interesting attractions, from your quiet vacation home or apartment in the Neckar Valley or near the city, you can visit numerous cultural events and exhibitions. In the Rhine-Neckar district, there are many religious institutions and churches open to visitors. Visit Amorbach Abbey, Ulrich's Church in Neckargemünd, the pilgrimage basilica in Walldürn, or the Heiligenberg Monastery ruins. In Heidelberg, you'll find the Kurpfälzisches Museum with an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, crafts, and textiles, and the Ethnographic Museum in the historic rooms of the Palais Weimar.
