Molina di Ledro

View German

The accommodation was very good. The owner is a very nice man and speaks German well. The lake is fantastic, with real mountain spring water and so clean that you can see all the way to the bottom. The only thing I would bring with me if I go again would be my own bed sheets and towels, as they were not that great. But otherwise, a 1+ rating.

Which sights are there in Ledrosee?

Holiday between mountains and lake

Directly at Lago di Ledro, there is a holiday village and four towns. The tourist center is located in Pieve di Ledro. In the main town of the Ledro Valley municipality, there are numerous significant buildings, such as the Annunciation Church and the old town hall. A holiday home or apartment in Pieve di Ledro is also an ideal starting point for bike tours and hikes. The municipality of Ledro includes the three districts of Molina di Ledro, Pieve di Ledro, and Mezzolago. The picturesque Lake Ledro is a maximum of 47 meters deep, has a total area of 2.2 km², and is one of the most beautiful lakes in Trentino. The surrounding mountains are reflected in its crystal-clear water like a picture book. The first road was built here in 1847, characterized by countless narrow serpentines and nowadays only accessible by mountain bikers. By car, you can comfortably reach the Ledro Valley via two long tunnels. Lake Ledro became famous, among other things, thanks to an archaeological find in 1929. When the water level was lowered for the connection to the Lake Garda power plant, remains of Bronze Age pile dwellings were discovered on the lake bed. This prehistoric settlement is now considered one of the most important in Europe due to its state of preservation and extent. Although many finds have fallen into the hands of grave robbers, some can be seen in the museum of Molina di Ledro. All around Lake Ledro, such as in Pur and Pieve Mezzolago, there are bathing spots, beautiful sunbathing lawns, and pebble beaches. At many places, you can rent rowing and pedal boats as well as surfboards. Hiking enthusiasts will find ideal conditions in the Ledro Valley, with a well-signposted network of trails offering easy to challenging tours. In the Dolomites, Trentino awaits you with la dolce vita. The pale mountains, as the mountain range is also called, stretch to Lake Garda. The Brenta Dolomites are certainly a familiar name to hiking enthusiasts. Their breathtakingly beautiful flora and fauna can be admired in the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park. Equally impressive is the nature surrounding the highest mountain in Trentino, the 3,769-meter-high Cevedale. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking! This mountain is located in the Stelvio National Park, founded in 1935, on the border between South Tyrol and Lombardy. The mountain is also known as the roof of Trentino. The third national park is Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino. This protected area on the border with Veneto is home to numerous deer. In the visitor center, you can observe them from a safe distance. The park is also known for its wood. For a long time, the world's most famous violins have been made from the spruce trees. The most popular lake and the largest inland lake in Italy, Lake Garda, is located in Trentino-South Tyrol. Cypress and citrus trees grow on its shores, while in the north, near Riva del Garda and Torbole, a 2,000-meter-high mountain crown pushes into the clouds – the area could not be more diverse. Of course, Lake Garda is also a mecca for outdoor and sports enthusiasts. Trentino-Alto Adige is Italy's northernmost region and has an autonomous special status. A single holiday will probably not be enough to explore all the attractions of South Tyrol. Whether Val di Fiemme, San Martino di Castrozza, Madonna di Campiglio, Val di Sole, the Fassa Valley, or Marmolada, winter in the Dolomites and Trentino has its own special charm. Everywhere there are ski areas with state-of-the-art snowmaking and ascent facilities and breathtaking panoramas. But not only skiers' eyes will sparkle here, cross-country skiing is also a real experience. If you prefer to start on foot from your private apartment or holiday home on the shores of Lake Ledro, you can enjoy winter with snowshoe and winter hiking away from the slopes. If you want to make a more extensive excursion from your private apartment and your affordable holiday home with a beautiful view, Lake Como is an attractive destination. The most Italian and original of the Italian lakes is considered noble and fashionable. Nestled in an impressive mountain world and surrounded by parks and villas, Lake Como makes your stay an unforgettable experience.

What is a must-see in Ledrosee?

Relaxation and history at Lake Ledro

But the region also has a lot to offer culturally. In the village center, south of Piazza Roma, the granite staircase starts, leading to the 18th-century Church of St. Vigilius. In Verdesina, the oldest quarter of Molina, lies the Church of St. Francis of Paola, dating back to 1628. Slightly below is the magnificent mansion "Casa Demadonna," which served as the residence of the Scaligeri in the 16th century. Also worth seeing is the house "Casa Zecchini," where the poet and translator of significant German works, Andrea Maffei, was born. Trento (Trent) is a city rich in art and history, where Central European and Italian culture meet. The Council City preserves its complete art-historical heritage in its monuments, shaped over time by both cultures. The most important sights of Trento include the cathedral with its enchanting square and the Neptune fountain, the Castello del Buonconsiglio, which was the residence of the Trento prince-bishops for many centuries, the Council churches and the frescoed houses, as well as the exhibitions and museums that make Trento an impressive cultural center. Stroll along the imperial promenade through the old town to the cathedral square and admire
