We are very satisfied.

Dear Ms. ter Jung,

we are very satisfied with your accommodation.
The holiday home is in a very quiet location, ideal for people who want to relax.
The car parking space is right next to the house, which we found very good.
The house has everything you need to spend a vacation in any weather.
Nice accommodation also for families with children.
It is only a few minutes to the harbor; cycling is highly recommended here. There is the possibility to go towards Bremerhaven or Cuxhaven, as the bike paths are very well developed.
Not far from the accommodation, there are also restaurants, as well as a small shopping opportunity.
We were very satisfied with everything anyway.
Thank you
Best regards, Fam. Roßbach

Which sights are there in Dorum?

Attractions Between Dorum and Cuxhaven

The small village of Dorum offers a relaxing holiday amidst a magnificent North German landscape between the Wadden Sea and the North Sea coast. Take a walk along the green beaches in Dorum Land or the golden sandy beaches near Cuxhaven. A short walk takes you to the Eversand lighthouse in Dorum-Neufeld. From the tower, you have a breathtaking view over the entire landscape of the Wurster North Sea coast up to Cuxhaven. Among the top attractions in Dorum is the old St. Urbanus church, the main church of the Land Wursten, which was built in the 12th century. Of art historical interest are the crucifix from the 13th and the baptismal font from the 12th century. Not to be missed is the legendary sacrament house, said to originate from a shipwreck. Visit the Dorum dyke museum Land Wursten and learn about how people between Cuxhaven and Bremerhaven have had to cope with the capricious North Sea.

What do you need to experience in Dorum?

Must-Sees

The biggest highlight of the Wurster Land is the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, which lies right outside your apartment or holiday home. This special marine biotope with its thousands of small inhabitants thrives on the high tide, which floods the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea twice a day and leaves it exposed for a short time after about six hours. A guided walk, where you learn all about the tidal flats, is recommended. The excursion delights the whole family – and don't forget your dog, who, like you, must be protected from the sun and provided with drinking water. From Dorum station, you can reach the noteworthy Bremerhaven in just under 30 minutes, with its fully covered shopping malls Columbus Center and Mediterraneo. Bremerhaven scores with numerous top attractions located directly on the city dyke. The exciting Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8° East museum takes your whole family into the climate worlds around the globe. Like a landed UFO, the facility is located right next to the new landmark of Bremerhaven, the Atlantic Sail City Hotel, which architecturally connects to the famous Burj al Arab skyscraper in Dubai. A fine restaurant with a grand view far over the Weser from the 180-meter-high viewing platform is worth a visit. The poignant stories of emigrants, for whom Bremerhaven was a port of hope, are vividly told at the award-winning Emigration House. It is located near the pretty New Harbor close to the Zoo am Meer, which is directly adjacent to the dyke and provides a new home for polar bears and penguins. Walk across the gangway of the "Seute Deern" (Low German for Sweet Girl) in the Old Harbor and experience a dignified old bark from the inside. Take a seat in the elegant restaurant in the belly of the ship and indulge in the specialties of the kitchen. Right across is the noteworthy national German Maritime Museum, with the "Bremer Kogge," the oldest raised ship from 1380. Tip: Rent a bike and cycle along the dyke to the former fishing harbor. Tastefully converted into so-called Havenwelten, it offers visitors a beautiful experience and strolling mile with a ship museum right at the harbor basin. Here, maritime delights and a wide range of souvenir shops await you.

What can you experience in Dorum with children?

Your Perfect Vacation with Children and Dogs

Rent a cozy apartment or a modern holiday home equipped with Wi-Fi in Dorum-Neufeld and enjoy the Wurster North Sea coast in any weather. Family-friendly homes in Dorum-Neufeld or Spieka-Neufeld are never far from the beach with the typical colorful beach chairs that provide protection from wind and sun. The large selection of family-friendly, affordable apartments and holiday homes from private owners makes your beach holiday in Dorum perfect, especially with small children. The child-friendly Wadden Sea with its shallow tidal beaches and the maritime children's playground with a pirate ship ensure this. Holiday with a Dog in Dorum becomes a pleasure. Numerous apartments and cozy homes are set up for pets and welcome you and your dog. Beautiful dog beaches are especially popular – not only with holidaymakers with a pet. The short distances between places worth seeing like Cuxhaven, Bad Bederkesa, or Bremerhaven and the flat landscape invite you to a holiday with a bicycle. Some apartments and holiday homes are accordingly equipped with their own bicycles. Take a trip from Dorum to Bad Bederkesa and visit the impressive castle by the lake there. Or circle the beautiful Bederkesa Lake on one of the many shady forest paths, which are well suited for a walk with a dog. Many riding stables in the area offer wonderful rides for young and old into the beautiful North German landscape.

Where can I eat out in Dorum?

F for Fish Specialties

Fish, and especially North Sea shrimp, are the specialties of the Dorum region. They taste best fresh from the shrimp cutters, which are located opposite your beautiful apartment or cozy holiday home in Dorum-Neufeld. Whether in a roll or scrambled eggs from free-range North German chickens, or in a hearty bacon sauce with a flounder, North Sea shrimp are a heavenly delight. Labskaus – mashed potatoes with herring, egg, beetroot, and pickles – is a specialty of the entire region. What sounds so simple can taste excellent. Fish in all imaginable variations, traditionally always preferred with a bacon or cream sauce, is the alpha and omega of regional gastronomy. To this, you should drink a light, cool beer – perhaps the Frisian-bitter Jeva. And don't forget: red fruit pudding with vanilla sauce for dessert!

What is a must-see in Dorum?

Wurster North Sea Coast Celebrates!

One of the most beautiful – and definitely the tastiest – events on the Wurster North Sea coast takes place in mid-September and is aptly named "Dwarsloeper – the Culinary Day of the Wurster North Sea Coast." For two weeks, you can discover the most creative chefs of the region in selected gastronomy. A Culinary Marketplace at the Midlumer Mill complements the rich cultural offerings of the overall event. Right around the corner from your house in Dorum-Neufeld, the popular "Watt'n Breakfast" takes place in early July – proving how much the people of Wursterland care about their well-being.

How do I come to Dorum?

By Car and Train to Your House in Dorum

You can easily reach your holiday home or apartment near the North Sea via the A 27 motorway and the Neuwalde exit 4 junction. Travelers from the south can make a stopover in Bremerhaven and visit one of the many attractions of the city. Your rented house in Dorum-Neufeld can also be reached by Deutsche Bahn. IC and ICE trains stop in Bremen. The Hanseatic city, with its narrow winding alleys, the impressive town hall with the Roland statue, and quaint restaurants, is definitely worth a visit. During the season, some long-distance trains also stop in Bremerhaven. From here, you can reach Dorum and your holiday home or apartment by taking the EVB regional train 33, which takes just 30 minutes. The regional train runs hourly (every two hours on weekends) on the Bremerhaven – Dorum – Cuxhaven route.
