Description

Welcome home!

There are many holiday homes in the world, but if you are looking for the extraordinary, the Dean Lake Chalet in Canada is the right address

Furnished to a very high standard with attention to detail, located directly on a lake area and ideal for feeling at home. The holiday can begin right at the house.

The Dean Lake Chalet in Southwest-Country-Style convinces above all with its high functionality and well thought-out room layout. The complete equipment is on a high level ( washing machine and dryer, TV with DVD player, microwave, dishwasher, Weber grill, canoe, kayak etc.).

In the house there are a total of three bedrooms (2 bedrooms with double beds / 1 bedroom with 2 single beds), 1 utility room, 1 bathroom and in the cosy, open-plan living-dining-kitchen area on the ground floor there is a wood-burning stove for the colder months. There is also a sofa set and a dining table. A highlight is certainly the large terrace, which surrounds the house on two sides. From the house you have direct access to the terrace and a panoramic lake view. The sunsets are unforgettable.

A sun deck is located directly on the water. Canoe, kayak, charcoal grill, fishing equipment and a comprehensive folder with lots of information and restaurant tips are available free of charge in the house. You can start many activities directly from the house

We make every effort to offer our guests a unique holiday experience. Upon request, we will be happy to send you our comprehensive Dean Lake Chalet brochure, which contains valuable information as well as several pages of excursion tips in the region.

During the construction of the chalet, great importance was attached to sustainability and many building materials were used directly from the property. For example, the natural stone wall behind the fireplace was built with stones from the property or the exterior façade as well as the wooden elements in the interior were used from the wood of the trees from the property, which had to be felled to create the access road.

Location and surroundings of object

The chalet sits on a m² of natural lakefront property and has more than 3 km of private shoreline frontage. It also includes seven private islands.

From Halifax International Airport (which is served by Condor direct flights from Germany from April to October), it is about two hours to Dean Lake Chalet. Before that, you will pass Bridgewater, where there are several large supermarkets and a small shopping mall. Also within 15 minutes from the house is the town of Caledonia, where you will find a supermarket, petrol station, café, liqueur store, post office, bank and much more. This short distance between pure nature and shopping facilities is rather rare by Canadian standards

The location of Dean Lake Chalet is particularly ideal for those who want to discover southern Nova Scotia from here. It is only about 45 minutes to the cities of Liverpool and Bridgewater on the south coast or to the Bay of Fundy. Kejimkujik National Park is only 20 minutes away by car and Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, is at least 1.5 hours away

Lake:

Dean Lake is perhaps one of the most beautiful lakes in Nova Scotia. It flows directly into the somewhat larger Mc Gowan Lake, in which there are more small islands. The lake conveys a real Canadian feeling, as there are hardly any houses on the shore: Pure nature!

We recommend an extended tour by canoe and kayak, which are available to our guests, to discover the interconnected lakes. The many small islands offer the perfect place to take a break in between. There is even a picnic bench on one of them.

Noisy motorboats, jet skis or even seaplanes are fortunately rarely to be found here. From the house you have a beautiful view of the lake and can enjoy the day by the water in peace and quiet. In summer the water is warm enough for swimming and in winter the lake is often frozen over

Wildlife

Due to the distance of about 12 km as the crow flies to Kejimkujik National Park, the wildlife and animal density is high. As the chalet is also situated in the middle of nature, with a bit of luck you can spot white-tailed deer, raccoon, skunk or porcupine in the forest. Squirrels and chipmunks come right up to the terrace. At the lake you can also find the well-known bald eagles, Canada geese or the specially protected loons, which belong to the common loons and are depicted on the Canadian one-dollar coin.

Activities at the house
You can start many activities directly from our house. There is a lot to discover on the large property and in the immediate surroundings.

SPAY WAYS
In total there are almost 2 km of private paths on the property. Explore the surroundings.

FISHING
There are many fishing opportunities here. However, be sure to obtain a fishing licence beforehand

SMALL HIKING (approx. 4 km)

STREAM WALK (10 km)
Walk to the Medway Rapids in Albany New.

Great tupper lake hike - (14 km)*
A beautiful trail around Tupper Lake. Enjoy the natural surroundings. About halfway along the trail you will find a picnic bench and public lake access with swimming. Take a break before continuing the rest of the way.

KAYAK AND CANOE
Explore the Dean Lake and Mc Gowan Lake area by kayak and canoe. A total of four lakes are interconnected and accessible directly from the house.
TIP: Trip by kayak and canoe to the private island belonging to the property. A large, comfortable picnic table invites you to linger here

SWIMMING
Dean Lake invites you to swim in many places.

EVENINGS AND NIGHTS
Make yourself comfortable right by the house and watch the starry sky. In good weather you can even see the Milky Way.

TIP FOR THE WINTER
In winter, when snow has fallen, walks and hikes around the house are especially fun. There is plenty of wood for cosy evenings by the fireplace.

This house deserves 5 stars.

We were the first to visit this house at the beginning of June 2018. It was impressive. This wooden house was built and furnished with really great attention to detail. We really lacked for nothing. With the canoe you could explore the different islands and spend hours there fishing and relaxing. There were wonderful sunsets on the terrace while having a barbecue and a glass of wine. All in all, a perfect holiday. We will be back, Mr. Rüter :)

recommend for: adventure and experience, holiday with children, cultural and sightseeing holiday, romantic holiday
