Description

Peace, relaxation, romance or adventure - and yet only about 7 hours direct flight from Germany.

Holiday in the middle of nature in a romantic red cedar log house on a 20000 sqm forest plot with good transport connections. On the shore of the pristine and crystal-clear lake lies the generously designed house with an open living, kitchen and dining area. Two double-bed rooms and one single-bed room are spread over two interconnecting levels, providing ample space for up to five people. Each level has separate access from the outside. The spacious bathroom is equipped with a shower and a double washbasin, so that the morning and evening toilet is quickly done, even with full occupancy. The bathroom is located on the upper level and is accessible from the hallway as well as from the upper bedroom.

Leave everyday life behind you on approx. 150 sqm of living and usable space. After a restful night's sleep, enjoy a morning swim in the lake and explore nature on your own in a canoe, kayak or on foot. Reach for the fishing rod to provide dinner, because with perch, trout, pike, catfish and eel, the lake offers a diverse range.

At the end of the day, have a sundowner on the inviting sun terrace with fantastic lake views, retreat with a good book or share your experiences with friends and family overseas via the internet. Be enchanted by a breathtaking starry sky.

The kitchen offers all the necessary amenities and is well-equipped, in addition to a refrigerator and a 4-plate cooker, a coffee maker, a kettle and a toaster are of course available to serve a magical breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The surrounding woods support the feeling of peace and seclusion. Nova Scotia offers a wide range of possibilities, there is something for everyone. Explore the seemingly endless sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean about 20 minutes away by car, take part in spectacular whale watching and tidal bore rafting on the Shubenacadie River or visit Kejimkujik National Park, the towns of Lunenburg, Bridgewater, Mahone Bay or Annapolis Royal.
Colourful harbour towns, picturesque fishing villages and countless, dreamlike bays of the rugged coastline form a pleasant contrast.

The local landlords are happy to help with any questions, requests or problems that may arise.

Location and surroundings of object

The property is located in the wooded south-west of Nova Scotia directly on the lake. It belongs to the small village of Carleton, where there is a petrol station with a small convenience & liquer store and an adjoining café. The harbour town of Yarmouth, about 25 km away, offers extensive shopping facilities, cinemas, bars, restaurants, museums, a golf course, a lighthouse, churches and a hospital

The seemingly endless sandy Atlantic beaches of Port Maitland and Mavillette Beach are also only 25-30 km away. Other attractions in the area include Smugglers Cove, Ellenwood Provincial Park and Cape Forchu. Day trips to whale watching in the Bay of Fundy, Kejimkujik National Park, the historic old town of Annapolis Royal, Port Royal, Fort Anne and the Histroric Gardens or to Lunenburg are unforgettable. Walk in the footsteps of French immigrants and learn about their daily lives in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries or book a rafting tour on the Shubenacadie River.

The journey via the international airport of the provincial capital Halifax takes visitors through the forests of a rolling landscape and lets them dive deep into a parallel world, for example on the southern route past Peggy's Cove, along the Atlantic coast with the towns of Bridgewater, Liverpool, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg (the latter has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1995).

The Nova Scotia Peninsula is located on the east coast of Canada, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Nova Scotia is located at the latitude of southern France. Supported by the nearby Gulf Stream, it has a Mediterranean climate. The lakes warm up to over 25 degrees in summer. You can observe animals in their natural environment right on your doorstep, hummingbirds buzz around the terrace.

Nova Scotia is about 55300 square kilometres in size, but has only about 1 million inhabitants. The sea coast has a length of about 7500 km. The sea is thus omnipresent and it is especially the coastal landscapes that have a lasting impact on the charm of the region.

In Nova Scotia you will find unspoilt nature on the edge of a well-functioning civilisation. The atmosphere of endless forests and lakes and the wild romance of the coast are fascinating. You have the chance to experience life in Canada without sacrificing comfort.

The best

Sylvia and Uwe are the best and nicest hosts you could wish for. The house on the lake is extremely idyllic, lovely and cosy. It is also in absolutely impeccable condition. As is the equipment provided. The relaxation factor, physically and mentally, is unbelievably great. We can highly recommend it and are already looking forward to the next time ! Thank you very much!

Dream holiday

Twice I have been to Sloans Lake in this beautiful house. And both times it was a wonderful, relaxing holiday! The lake is a dream - you don't want to leave the water. The house is super cosy, tip-top equipped and in excellent condition; it smells wonderfully of cedar. And the best landlords ever! They are incredibly helpful and nice, always have good tips and time for a nice chat.
I am already looking forward to my third holiday in this little Canadian paradise!

Great house by the lake

We had a great vacation at Sloans Lake. The house leaves nothing to be desired. The lake and nature invite you to linger and relax. Shopping is easily possible in Yarmouth (about 20 minutes). The landlords are very attentive and could be reached at any time. Simply a great piece of the world that we associate with great memories. Conclusion: 5 stars, we will come back!

Thanks to the best hostel parents

The property is so fantastically quiet that after our first two-week holiday in autumn 2015 as the last tenants of the season, we immediately spent our second three-week holiday here in June as the first seasonal tenants of 2016.
The location of the house away from any public roads (here only a forest path leads to the property) offers the absolute guarantee for peace and relaxation. The landlord couple lives in Canadian proximity to the house as the nearest neighbour about 500 metres away as the crow flies. We felt very considerately treated by the landlords. If you want to enjoy your absolute peace and quiet, you will only see them once a week to exchange laundry. Otherwise, they are available almost around the clock if needed. They give very informative tips on any questions and are even personally available for fishing trips and other leisure activities if possible. On some evenings, freshly caught sea fish was delivered to our house by the landlords. The quality and taste were unique.
We enjoyed the beautiful days on the house terrace and the evenings with mostly beautiful sunsets on the very well developed sea terrace. The wildlife is right on the doorstep. We were visited every evening by a rabbit that kept the grass short by the house for hours. During the day, hummingbirds buzz around the house. Birds can be heard and observed during the day and in the dark. If you sit quietly on the terrace in the morning while having breakfast, you can often observe white-tailed deer in the immediate vicinity. Once they came within 20 metres of us. All the photos of the property posted on the internet are not embellished and fully correspond to the presentation. All household utensils are in very good and very clean condition. There is a variety of utensils available for recreational activities at the property.

Mr. U. Ruschmeyer

My wife Sylvia and I had travelled the country of Canada for many years before we bought our holiday home in 2001 and spent many unforgettable holidays there, both alone and with friends and family or the children, until 2011. In the meantime, we immigrated to Canada and live in our new home very close to the holiday home, which we have been renting out ever since We still take great pleasure in not only personally attending to our guests on site, but also in assisting any interested party with advice and information during the planning process, if desired. Don't hesitate to ask us your questions and find out whether Nova Scotia is worth a trip for you too ...Welcome
