Description

Peace, relaxation, romance or adventure - and yet only about 7 hours direct flight from Germany.

Holiday in the middle of nature in a romantic red cedar log house on a 20000 sqm forest plot with good transport connections. On the shore of the pristine and crystal-clear lake lies the generously designed house with an open living, kitchen and dining area. Two double-bed rooms and one single-bed room are spread over two interconnecting levels, providing ample space for up to five people. Each level has separate access from the outside. The spacious bathroom is equipped with a shower and a double washbasin, so that the morning and evening toilet is quickly done, even with full occupancy. The bathroom is located on the upper level and is accessible from the hallway as well as from the upper bedroom.

Leave everyday life behind you on approx. 150 sqm of living and usable space. After a restful night's sleep, enjoy a morning swim in the lake and explore nature on your own in a canoe, kayak or on foot. Reach for the fishing rod to provide dinner, because with perch, trout, pike, catfish and eel, the lake offers a diverse range.

At the end of the day, have a sundowner on the inviting sun terrace with fantastic lake views, retreat with a good book or share your experiences with friends and family overseas via the internet. Be enchanted by a breathtaking starry sky.

The kitchen offers all the necessary amenities and is well-equipped, in addition to a refrigerator and a 4-plate cooker, a coffee maker, a kettle and a toaster are of course available to serve a magical breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The surrounding woods support the feeling of peace and seclusion. Nova Scotia offers a wide range of possibilities, there is something for everyone. Explore the seemingly endless sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean about 20 minutes away by car, take part in spectacular whale watching and tidal bore rafting on the Shubenacadie River or visit Kejimkujik National Park, the towns of Lunenburg, Bridgewater, Mahone Bay or Annapolis Royal.
Colourful harbour towns, picturesque fishing villages and countless, dreamlike bays of the rugged coastline form a pleasant contrast.

The local landlords are happy to help with any questions, requests or problems that may arise.

Location and surroundings of object

The property is located in the wooded south-west of Nova Scotia directly on the lake. It belongs to the small village of Carleton, where there is a petrol station with a small convenience & liquer store and an adjoining café. The harbour town of Yarmouth, about 25 km away, offers extensive shopping facilities, cinemas, bars, restaurants, museums, a golf course, a lighthouse, churches and a hospital

The seemingly endless sandy Atlantic beaches of Port Maitland and Mavillette Beach are also only 25-30 km away. Other attractions in the area include Smugglers Cove, Ellenwood Provincial Park and Cape Forchu. Day trips to whale watching in the Bay of Fundy, Kejimkujik National Park, the historic old town of Annapolis Royal, Port Royal, Fort Anne and the Histroric Gardens or to Lunenburg are unforgettable. Walk in the footsteps of French immigrants and learn about their daily lives in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries or book a rafting tour on the Shubenacadie River.

The journey via the international airport of the provincial capital Halifax takes visitors through the forests of a rolling landscape and lets them dive deep into a parallel world, for example on the southern route past Peggy's Cove, along the Atlantic coast with the towns of Bridgewater, Liverpool, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg (the latter has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1995).

The Nova Scotia Peninsula is located on the east coast of Canada, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Nova Scotia is located at the latitude of southern France. Supported by the nearby Gulf Stream, it has a Mediterranean climate. The lakes warm up to over 25 degrees in summer. You can observe animals in their natural environment right on your doorstep, hummingbirds buzz around the terrace.

Nova Scotia is about 55300 square kilometres in size, but has only about 1 million inhabitants. The sea coast has a length of about 7500 km. The sea is thus omnipresent and it is especially the coastal landscapes that have a lasting impact on the charm of the region.

In Nova Scotia you will find unspoilt nature on the edge of a well-functioning civilisation. The atmosphere of endless forests and lakes and the wild romance of the coast are fascinating. You have the chance to experience life in Canada without sacrificing comfort.

The best

Sylvia and Uwe are the best and nicest hosts you could wish for. The house on the lake is extremely idyllic, lovely and cosy. It is also in absolutely impeccable condition. As is the equipment provided. The relaxation factor, physically and mentally, is unbelievably great. We can highly recommend it and are already looking forward to the next time ! Thank you very much!

Dream holiday

Twice I have been to Sloans Lake in this beautiful house. And both times it was a wonderful, relaxing holiday! The lake is a dream - you don't want to leave the water. The house is super cosy, tip-top equipped and in excellent condition; it smells wonderfully of cedar. And the best landlords ever! They are incredibly helpful and nice, always have good tips and time for a nice chat.
I am already looking forward to my third holiday in this little Canadian paradise!

Tolles Haus am See

Thanks to the best hostel parents

The property is so fantastically quiet that after our first two-week holiday in autumn 2015 as the last tenants of the season, we immediately spent our second three-week holiday here in June as the first seasonal tenants of 2016.
The location of the house away from any public roads (here only a forest path leads to the property) offers the absolute guarantee for peace and relaxation. The landlord couple lives in Canadian proximity to the house as the nearest neighbour about 500 metres away as the crow flies. We felt very considerately treated by the landlords. If you want to enjoy your absolute peace and quiet, you will only see them once a week to exchange laundry. Otherwise, they are available almost around the clock if needed. They give very informative tips on any questions and are even personally available for fishing trips and other leisure activities if possible. On some evenings, freshly caught sea fish was delivered to our house by the landlords. The quality and taste were unique.
We enjoyed the beautiful days on the house terrace and the evenings with mostly beautiful sunsets on the very well developed sea terrace. The wildlife is right on the doorstep. We were visited every evening by a rabbit that kept the grass short by the house for hours. During the day, hummingbirds buzz around the house. Birds can be heard and observed during the day and in the dark. If you sit quietly on the terrace in the morning while having breakfast, you can often observe white-tailed deer in the immediate vicinity. Once they came within 20 metres of us. All the photos of the property posted on the internet are not embellished and fully correspond to the presentation. All household utensils are in very good and very clean condition. There is a variety of utensils available for recreational activities at the property.

5-star house on the lake

We (family with 3 children) spent four wonderful weeks in this dreamlike place. The house is somewhat secluded in the forest with a fantastic view of Sloans Lake. The lake is very clean, has velvety water, pleasant temperatures and invites you to swim from early to late. It is also wonderful under a twinkling starry sky. The equipment of the house is perfect, everything has been thought of and it is in a very clean and well-kept condition. Especially the kitchen is very well equipped, even for five people. Nothing is missing! Even the beds are made and the towels are changed weekly by the landlords. The holiday can start immediately, you feel at home right away! The large fridge and freezer offer enough space to stock up on food. You can do this wonderfully in Yarmouth, about 20 km away. The leisure facilities are varied, there are various board games, books, bathing island, canoe, fishing equipment, fire bowl, barbecue and much more. We didn't get bored for a single moment during the four weeks. We especially enjoyed the time we spent together as a family, but also the freedom for each individual. So everyone had their favourite activity: Kayaking, fishing, jumping into the water from the jetty, gliding across the lake on the bathing island, building a hut in the forest... We combined the four weeks in Canada with a few days in New York afterwards and thus had a successful mixture of nature, relaxation and sightseeing. A big thank you goes to the lovely landlords! You can tell that it is a matter of the heart for them that the guests feel comfortable. They always have an open ear for questions and give valuable tips on excursions and shopping opportunities as well as real insider tips for fishing spots with a guarantee of success! With this spot of earth and your cordiality, you have managed to make this holiday one of our best!

Unique holiday experiences

We spent two fantastic weeks in this absolute dream house with our adult daughter. The location of the holiday home is really unique. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the possibility to swim in this beautiful and extremely clean lake at any time of the day or night, to take boat trips or just lie on the jetty and experience the most diverse moods. The furnishing of the house is perfect. Nothing is missing - everything is well maintained and very clean. But what we remember most are the landlords, who are on site and looked after us with incredible cordiality from the first reception until our departure. We very much hope that this was not our last stay in this place.

Thank you for a wonderful time !

As big Scandinavia and Iceland lovers, we wanted to try Eastern Canada and were not disappointed with Nova Scotia and this very well-maintained and clean holiday home. The equipment of the house leaves nothing to be desired, everything you need is there. The internet connection is also good. The house is beautifully situated directly on Sloans Lake. At the time of our trip in August, it was a very pleasant temperature for swimming or kayaking / canoeing at any time of the day. The house stands alone on a large plot of land, you are completely to yourself. So you can enjoy the peace and solitude without being too far away from civilisation. There are plenty of opportunities for shopping in Yarmouth. The transport links are good, all the sights of the southern part of Nova Scotia can be explored in a day trip. The landlords are on site, are very friendly and accommodating and are available for advice and assistance if needed. The house is ideal both for exploring Nova Scotia's south and for a relaxing holiday in a very beautiful setting. The location on the lake is just terrific. We would make this choice again a second time and always think back to this great time.

Canada - like something out of a picture book

We spent two wonderful weeks in this holiday accommodation with our two children and enjoyed every single day very much. The children especially loved the lake with the bathing jetty. The water was surprisingly warm and very clean, inviting for swimming at any time of the day. The holiday house exceeded all expectations. In addition to the many little things in the kitchen that are often missing in other holiday homes, there were also toys for the children, a stocked bookshelf, as well as a grill and fire pit. In short - everything is there to make the holiday even more perfect. The care provided by the landlord was always very friendly and accommodating from the first day of contact until departure. They always answered all questions very quickly and offered their help beyond that. Thanks to the many insider tips from the landlord, we had very nice experiences. Due to the good support, the house is highly recommended, especially for newcomers to Canada. We really liked the location of the house. All daily errands can be easily done due to the proximity to the town of Yarmouth. In addition, there are many excursion destinations (whale watching on the Digby Neck, Kejimkujik National Park, the Lighthouse Route with Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg, and various beaches on the Atlantic coast) that can be easily reached as day destinations. Unfortunately, our two weeks on site were not enough for all the attractions.

Actually deserves 6 stars.

This is how you imagine a vacation in the middle of nature in Canada. Secluded in the forest and directly on the lake, which you mostly have all to yourself, and then in a beautiful and very rare log cabin that has a very special flair. In addition, nature lovers are impressed by the special wildlife right outside the door compared to home. In addition to the many hummingbirds, we were also able to observe a bald eagle, chipmunks, and white-tailed deer. There are also porcupines and raccoons to see here and there. The landlords were extremely friendly and very serious and professional from the initial contact to the departure and always available for questions. We received a lot of tips for excursions, the information folder was filled with a lot of information. In terms of equipment and facilities, the house itself has absolutely everything you need and is tip-top clean and very well maintained, absolutely exemplary. Canoeing, kayaking, play island, swimming directly in front of the door in the warm, clean lake water at the jetty, barbecue, fishing, outdoor fireplace, indoor fireplace, fully equipped kitchen (even a cooler box for on the go was thought of), and much more, everything available. All information and pictures provided by the landlord are current and match 100% with what was found. Gas station with a "mom-and-pop store" (including alcohol) within walking distance. The nearest "larger" town (Yarmouth) can be easily reached by car in about 20km with all shopping possibilities. The only thing we regret is not staying here longer. After this stay, we went on for two more weeks to Cape Breton and were able to gather further experience in terms of accommodations. Therefore, we are convinced that this location actually deserves one more star in the overall rating. There were absolutely no wishes left open or anything that needed improvement, without exaggerating.

Pure peace and relaxation

We spent 3 weeks at this beautiful place. The house is well furnished, very clean, and we didn't miss anything. The landlords were on site. Our questions and wishes were always quickly fulfilled. The lake is a dream!!! It doesn't matter what time of day or what weather, the lake always invites you to swim. For shopping, we drove to Yarmouth. In town, we bought our worms for fishing. For our youngest who fished from the canoe or dock, this was a lasting memory. Definitely book whale-watching with Tom. We can recommend a bike tour in Kejimkujik National Park (bikes can be rented). Once again, a heartfelt thanks to the landlords for our beautiful time in Nova Scotia.

Fam. W. aus Wismar

My wife Sylvia and I had travelled the country of Canada for many years before we bought our holiday home in 2001 and spent many unforgettable holidays there, both alone and with friends and family or the children, until 2011. In the meantime, we immigrated to Canada and live in our new home very close to the holiday home, which we have been renting out ever since We still take great pleasure in not only personally attending to our guests on site, but also in assisting any interested party with advice and information during the planning process, if desired. Don't hesitate to ask us your questions and find out whether Nova Scotia is worth a trip for you too ...Welcome
