Location and surroundings of object
The apartment is located in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village on the top floor and attic of a detached house. The living rooms and the balcony are south-facing and impress with their size and brightness. The house is surrounded by a 1000 sqm garden with barbecue area, sunbathing lawn and garden furniture. Hiking trails start right behind the house, providing direct access to the hiking trail network around Stützerbach and to the Rennsteig, 3 km away. Stützerbach is a scattered gem in the highlands of the Thuringian Forest.
It is an ideal holiday destination for those who enjoy exploring nature, hiking and seeking peace and quiet. Surrounded by forests, idyllic meadows and mountains, the village offers relaxation for every taste.
Germany's most popular high-altitude hiking trail, the Rennsteig, is only 3 km away. Stützerbach is located in the middle of the UNESCO biosphere reserve, which is one of the landscapes of special beauty and uniqueness - a unique experience in the green heart of Germany. But even off the beaten track, you can enjoy healthy forest air, the smell of mushrooms, freshly cut wood and, time and again, magnificent views of mountain ranges and deep valleys - in short, a holiday in the midst of unspoilt nature - on over 100 km of hiking trails or on over 40 km of groomed cross-country ski runs, depending on the season. The place itself has a rich tradition and an interesting history. Even for Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the place was something special. He often stayed here and today a hiking trail connects his places of work and the Goethe Museum commemorates the great poet prince.
Early on, people began to use the healthy climate, the air and the landscape in the spirit of Pastor Sebastian Kneipp for the recovery and recuperation of people. Stützerbach still bears the title of "state-recognised Kneipp spa" today.
Another tradition of which we are proud was and is the art of glassblowing. The fact that the first German thermometer, the first German light bulb and the first thermos flask were made here is testimony to the skill of the masters. A highlight was the production and successful testing of the first X-ray tube in this place. This art has survived to this day. You can see for yourself the skills of the glassblowers at the on-site show blowing in the glassblowing rooms.

Very nice apartment with a friendly landlord.
We had booked the apartment at short notice and had come for a long weekend of hiking. The central location of the apartment (all places/attractions in the Thuringian Forest are easily accessible) as well as the amenities convinced us completely. Mr. Jahn is a great host, always friendly, helpful, and trustworthy.
If you want to hike in the Thuringian Forest, this is the right place for you. The apartment's equipment left nothing to be desired and exceeded our expectations.
I think we won't be staying here for the last time, even though the infrastructure in the village could be improved.
recommend for: holiday with children, cultural and sightseeing holiday, skiing holiday
